pet peeves / lil stuff you cant stand

If you think it's cool to act "hood" or "ghetto", I can completely confirm that it's cringe as ****. Just swearing all the time, throwing around a certain slur, and barely speaking proper English is not cool and shouldn't be considered cool. Basically, if you talk like anyone does in a modern rap song, modern meaning post 2012, this includes you. As a black person, I think it's definitely possible to be black and act normal. Maybe that's because I live in the suburbs, but I really don't think so. Okay, before, in like the 1990s, 2000s, and early-mid 2010s, it probably wasn't that annoying, but now it is most definitely annoying because of how it's evolved. And I can confirm that because every single time I go to school, I deal with people that act like this. I was going to school in the 2010s, and it wasn't that bad then, so I really don't know what changed. There's a lot of words people use that I still don't know the meaning of, like apparently weird doesn't mean abnormal anymore. Idek anymore, but it's still obnoxious. 🙄 Not everything about black culture, just this certain type of culture, hood culture.

Whenever my daily routine gets interrupted it causes me to get so stressed out and I find myself getting annoyed trying to get back on track.

Using the F word in front of every word, it’s so unnecessary. And loud yawning annoys me, especially when my dad does it.
The first one is why I have such mixed feelings about the Philip DeFranco Show. I get it’s a casual YouTube show, but sometimes it feels disrespectful during the news segments.

As someone whos yawns and sneezes are essentially sonic booms, I apologize. I hate it too, I wish there was a way to make it quieter. Well, I suppose I could with my yawns. But sneezes are a lost cause QAQ

Why can’t I just have cute kitten sneezes-or better yet no sneezes at all ;w;

I have high school students on the bus I drive that act like this, and I 100% agree. It creates a toxic environment for those not involved. I can only do so much, however, so trying to manage it while driving is already hard enough. I try to relax myself a little bit when it comes to what they say, but when it veers into bullying or sexually-inappropriate territory, then we have a real problem. I've got to pick my battles.

It's so weird to think that I grew up as a teen in the era where this was becoming more commonplace. Now as an adult, I just can't stand it at all. The rap music especially that is put out and is "popular" these days just sounds like garbage to me. Tell me again how saying "work it" over and over 20 times is worthy of a Grammy award??? At least in the 90's, most of the rappers who were popular then could actually piece lyrics together that created a story. The samples they would use were also fun to listen to sometimes, and were not just generic beats stolen from YouTube. Nowadays, I can just tell by listening to the first 10-20 seconds of a song that it's going to be bad. Like, I'm pretty sure that stealing a beat from a royalty-free library with me mumbling random stuff into a microphone placed way too close to me and posting it on SoundCloud with a "Parental Advisory" tag will make me popular overnight. Eugh.

I get it, everyone has different music tastes. With me being raised on my Dad's Electric Light Orchestra albums being played on repeat, I've grown to appreciate 70's music a lot. Nobody understands that creating music back then was much more of a genuine experience than it is today, and it deeply saddens me when people don't even know who any of the influential and groundbreaking music artists from the 70's and 80's are/were.

When people try to talk to me when I’m eating. Quadruple how annoying this is if it’s strangers while I’m eating out in a restaurant (commenting/asking questions about my order, etc)

I don't really like it when I ask someone a question, expecting a decent response, and instead get one-worded answers that had little thought put into them. It wouldn't hurt to explain a little bit more why someone answered the way they did. I'm not expecting anyone to go overboard with it; it can even be a single sentence. That's all I'm asking.

I hate it when people say the n word. It barely has a meaning anymore, and at school, it's like 40% of the vocabulary of most people at school. Even though I can say it, I refrain from doing that and use less annoying words because I hate it now. Even an average episode of the Boondocks uses that word less than I hear it at school. People need to evolve and use other words in their vocabulary. If they even have any other words in their vocabulary.

I hate it when people say 'no?' at the end of a question. (e.g. I thought we were going there tomorrow, no?) It just sounds so impatient and passive aggressive whenever I hear it like the person is demanding an answer from you immediately and really irritated. My brother does it all the time and it is really annoying.

when people block a whole bench by sitting/laying in the middle it or putting their stuff on it. tbh I’ve probably been guilty of it plenty of times but the fact that it’s happened to me so often recently has made me try to be more aware and provide space for other people.

Edit: someone just saw me sitting on the floor, cleared up space, and got up, apologized, and told me they cleared up space. Faith in humanity restored! ^w^🌈💖🌸

There are certain words/terms I hear on an almost daily basis that annoy the heck out of me because of how often they're said. The trend seems to change almost every year it seems...

2018: Common sounds heard in mumble rap songs
2019: TikTok Challenge
2020: Social Distancing
2021: Contactless
2022: AI
2023: Sustainability I know, you wanna give me peace of mind saying that X product is made out of 80% recycled this and 20% recycled that and that it saves a whole 10 drops of water, but I really don't care that much. Stop shoving these facts down my throat and just tell me how the darn product you're trying to sell works, for crying out loud.

This pet peeve is probably unique to me and nobody else, which I'm fine with.
Alright, alright, you probably want a pet peeve that actually makes sense, so here's a legitimate one:

There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of products I see for sale on Amazon that are from companies (in China) with names that look like someone took their keyboard, smashed either ten random letters or two random words together, and called it good. And the thing is, Amazon promotes these companies as if we already know they're household names. Like yeah, I've definitely heard of XiuanChee before. I always buy my soaps from XiuanChee. They're the best!

One last pet peeve: when browsing through a random product's description, I'll see grammar errors that just make me cringe. Unless it's from a name brand with high recognition, this happens very often with almost every product I see for sale on Amazon. I get it; not everyone knows English and they probably have to use Google Translate on a daily basis, but you've gotta do better than that. Yes, I make grammar mistakes every now and then myself, but I don't make obvious mistakes every two sentences. My OCD basically corrects me.

Another very minor thing that annoys me:

Top ten or how-to articles that end in the current year, such as “HOW 2 GET MAX BELLS IN ANIMAL CROSSING IN 2023!” Like, the game hasn’t seen a content update in over two years; I doubt anything has changed since 2021. They all end in the current year so that they can get their clickbait money. This is an unnecessary tactic, and the articles are usually poorly-written anyways.

Oh, and [SOLVED] tags for articles that are just advertisements for computer programs. I really hate those.

Some people have no tact and aren’t careful about how they word things. Things can come off very differently based on wording and I don’t think people pay attention enough to that.

"Love" songs with lyrics where the singer is telling their partner that they'll "never find someone else as [whatever] as me" or that no one else will treat them as well as the singer does. I think that's a really terrible and emotionally manipulative thing to say to someone you claim to love. Breakup songs are one thing, but in regular love songs (and assuming there isn't meant to be a hidden layer where the singer is playing a manipulative character) I feel like that's kinda normalizing some pretty toxic stuff.
