Forgive me if you already did this, but the trick is usually heating the chips on their own first then adding the cheese on top after they're already hot. Then heating it all together for a further minute or two.amateur cooking:
I didn't have dinner today. I was trying to cook nachos and couldn't figure out why the cheese wouldn't melt onto the chips. I proceed to throw out multiple bags of chips and couldn't identify the problem. I thought maybe the brand of chips were cheap store value. So I switched. Then I tried changing from Kraft shredded cheese into regular restaurant brand shredded cheese.
...erm, something worked I suppose. At least I can have something to eat now.
