Pokémon Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield General Discussion

This game will be living proof that Gen 5 was the last good Pok?mon game

Ummmm.... X/Y, OR/AS? Lmao

Actually another friend of mine also thinks gen 5 is the last good Pokemon game. Still though, I would like to think that at least one or two of the 3DS games had some charm to them. Kind of boring if the series was only good when it was in sprite form.

lets go was trash but nintendo still has a shot in the pokemon switch area before everyone gives up on them

if they screw this up...

I enjoyed Gen 6 when they came out when I was in my younger teen years, but having replayed them recently I’ve come to a conclusion that they’re incredibly sub par games. The director of those games (can’t remember his name) made them purposefully easy because he thinks that kids only care about mobile games these days.

Kalos lacks in memorable locations and characters other than Lumiose City, which even then is likely the most confusing location in any Pok?mon game. While ORAS was the stronger of the gen 6 games, they lacked the charm that the original games had and isn’t the promised definitive Hoenn experience unlike Emerald. It’s a bit of a slap to the face, too, given that HGSS is considered the best game by many Pok?mon fans that the next remake felt like a downgrade.

Gen 5 has the most compelling Gym leaders, best rivals (Hugh was kinda dumb though), a story that actually makes the bad guy team and the Pok?mon league important plot points, and overall my favorite designs for the Pok?mon yet having fully animated sprites.

Everything about the Gen 5 games just feels like the definitive Pok?mon games to me. I can’t say much about Gen 7 since I never had the money to be able to purchase S/M, but from what I’ve heard it suffers from it’s own issues.

All fair points to be honest. I definitely agree that gen 6 is a bit too easy compared to previous generations. And yeah, gen 7 has a lot of problems... lol

I’ll say this much about Gen 6 though, it did have the most accessible competitive online mode out of any other game, which I did enjoy about it. Mega Evolution was dope af but now Gamefreak is getting rid of it in favor of godzilla pikachu which is pretty much my biggest disappointment of the Sword and Shield so far other than the fact that they’re cutting Pok?mon.

New Sword and Shield news are out. Looks like Doug Dimmadome and KISS just got their own siganture Pokemon. Oh, also some new characters.

Team Yell is goofy as hell. Seem like pseudo-villains unless this is the first Pok?mon game to not be about saving world in a while.

Also, Team Yell? Why couldn’t they have just called it Team Metal or something.

Happy they're branching outside of Kanto for Regional Varients. And happy for the return of Regional Evolutions with Galarian Linoone getting an evolution.

On the discussion of regional variants, I would be happy to see regional variants based on 2nd Gen Pok?mon, 3rd Gen Pok?mon, and 4th Gen Pok?mon. We don?t need another regional variant based on the 1st Gen (sorry Victorian Weezing), and the Unova generation and beyond is still too new for regional variants (who wants a Galarian Minior).

I really hope Hoppip gets his/her Galarian variant.

The new regional variants look cool at least. Also, Marnie is cool. I don’t know about the name “Team Yell” though. Don’t think I could take them seriously if they were the main villains for the region.

Also, Galarian Riolu/Lucario when?

I agree but I can't lie, Doug Dimmadome Weezing is prob one of the best regional variants I've ever seen lol

My initial reaction to this was "... you're kidding me, right?" I think Team Yell sounds stupid. I do like their aesthetic however, it's totally rockin.

MORPEKO IS SO CUTE OMG MY HEART- definitely gonna add him to my pokemon team!!
Obstagoon looks really cool.
Galarian weezing... Yeahhh we dont talk about that.

No matter how silly this game gets, I'm still going to play... but still... the new evil team? Seriously? Team Yell? It's getting pretty weird. Oh well. Still going to be fun. X)

Not a fan of Alolan and Galarian forms now.

I wish they'd quit trying to make meme-designs.
It's neat that they brought regional forms back but yeah, I felt this way about Alolan forms >.>

Well most anyways. I hope they shoot for something cool like alolan-vulpix. Here's to hoping for a galar-flygon form!
