I’m a bit peeved off on how people think the starters are lacking in design, where I like them all. I don’t get it.

for me, it's a lot that they just feel very overlapping in terms of design points. rabbit is by far the most unique in that aspect, but even then, still feels rather blended in to the rest

especially compared to what we got for sun & moon

Strange choice of names but okay. Scorbunny looks so precious though <3 Scrubble looks very cute as well it reminds me of mudkip.

It's a matter of personal preference. I think the last generation of starters looked a lot better, but I also have high hopes that these starters' evolutions will look great.

I noticed this while I was watching the trailer, that all three starters seem to look so similar to each other. They don't possess the same amount of uniqueness (?) that the gen 7 starters had.

Oh I'm so excited! I love this, I'm super excited to get back to the main concept as I didn't enjoy Sun/Moon as much as I'd hoped. I loved the starters, I'm definitely claiming Grookey, he's so sweet! Cool that this is based off of the UK, it looks super neat and unique! And I'm so hyped for the snowy village! Man this is really taking me back to the Gen 4 release for some reason. Pokemon releases always make me feel so happy. Anyway, I'm so hyped!

I dunno, there's a lot of stuff in the trailer reminiscent of the UK, to name a few:
- Two of the starters, bunny and froggo, are animals fairly common in the UK. Should have made the monkey a field mouse or something.
- That hillside grass art thing is fairly common here.
- Industrial mills were a huge part of the UK, seen in the trailer.
- The UK is filled with countrysides and farmland, as well as buildings/houses similar to those shown prominently in the trailer.
- There's mines in the trailer, the UK at one point having a huge mining job market.
- It shows a football/soccer stadium, football possibly being the most popular sport in the UK.
- There's a snowy area, because the UK is always cold...Except for that one week in summer where we get sun, represented by the fire area (I'm not being serious with this one)

Plus the name, 'sword and shield'. This relates to so much stuff in the UK's history, as well as today actually since we still have castles and all that 'swords and shields' stuff all over the place.

It looks more based on the UK's historical relevancy more than how the UK is today (probably because it would be hard to make a family friendly game world filled with abandoned highstreets, crime and racism), but it's still the UK.

Is it wrong that I don't like these starters as much as all the past ones? None of them except maybe Scorbunny appeals to me. Maybe they'll grow to me later on and when their evolutions are revealed.

Well, I think it looks fine. I hope it's not as lineair als Sun and Moon tho. Alolah did not feel like a complete world to me.
The starters are oke, they look a bit like fake Pokemon but I like the monkey the best and I'm curious what they will evolve in.

Those names tho... Sword and Shield? Ok then Nintendo.

Really glad for a region based off the United Kingdom. Really looking forward to these games! One of the reasons why I bought a Nintendo Switch last year in July. Was mostly for Smash Bros and Animal Crossing, but that's besides the point.

Definitely going to be picking Pokemon Shield, unless Pokemon Sword's Legendary is a Wolf. I also think I'll go with the female protagonist this time around for my first playthrough, since her design is more appealing over the male protagonist's design.

I'm definitely seeing minor branching paths in the region map. It might be mostly linear, but not fully.

Protagonist: ?By beating us in a Pokemon battle??

Anyway, these games look really good and exciting, especially compared to the 7th gen. Why do the names of them give me such X/Y vibes though? Iirc Kalos was based off of France. I?m hoping that the difficulty level is also higher and the starters? evolutions look good. Definitely going to get and play them either way though.

I'll admit that I have been fairly apathetic about Pok?mon these past few years, but this new trailer actually has me very excited for Gen 8! I was thinking about getting back into competitive battling and a new generation seems like the perfect time to do it.

To those who didn’t like Gen 7, I actually liked the 7th generation. I actually did. It was the generation that got me into Pok?mon. But I understand why people don’t like it.
