Pokémon Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield General Discussion

ok, but let's please not make breeding harder. breeding hell is already a thing for past gens

Hyper Training was also introduced in Gen 7. It allows for level 100 Pok?mon to increase their IVs (technically the IVs themselves aren't changed but the game acts as if they are).

oh yeah, I forgot about that

yay for more hidden power options

Do you mean EV's? I thought that IV's couldn't be changed.

I really hope Gen 8 lets us change our Pokemon's Hidden Power and nature. At this point, those are the last things we can't change. Being able to take an IV down to 0 (useful for certain builds) would be great too, but I'd like the HP/nature changes the most.

Anyway, pretty excited. Looking forward to it. I think this is the first time I've actually had a jaw drop for graphics when it comes to Pokemon. And I've been into Pokemon since Gen 1 first came out. Pokemon games are fun, but they don't exactly have cutting edge graphics. This isn't cutting edge either, but it looks fantastic. It's definitely much more modern looking.

No, it's IVs. If you get a Pokemon to level 100 in Gen 7 games and give them a bottle cap, the IVs for that Pokemon will go up to 31 (the max) as far as battling goes. It won't change the IVs as far as Hidden Power calculations or passing down IVs to the baby when breeding though.

Well I really like the names, and the game itself looks absolutely amazing! Definitely impressive graphics. I was hoping this would be an open world Pokemon adventure, kind of like BoTW, but it appears to be much more standard/formulaic so far. That's still ok though and I'm sure the game is going to be great!

I also like both the grass and fire starters although the water one isn't too appealing. But I'll wait until evolutions to make a final decision.

I'd like for a way to manip your natures like you could in Let's Go. And an easier way to get a Pokemon's hidden ability, but at the cost of 500k.

I highly see a doubt for both of these, but it would be a nice feature for us competitive players.

I haven't actually played Let's Go. How is the nature manipulation any different and/or better from the way you can already manipulate natures? You can just get a Pokemon with synchronize that has the nature you want. If you have a whole box of synchronizers (one for each nature), it's not hard to get what you want.

The only way synchronizing doesn't work is for event Pokemon. You have to manually soft reset for natures for those. That's kinda annoying.

I must say it should have been for Let's Go only, as A: In Let's Go there are no abilities, and B: You could find a pokemon you wanted instead of random encounters which returns in Gen 8.

I would only hope for a Hidden Ability mechanic to be easier to get, but i'd doubt that.

I did see the female protagonist sneaking in grass in the trailer at once point. So perhaps DexNav will be making a return?

Do you what else I would like? If we could have our Pok?mon boxes on the go, so we don?t have to visit the Pok?mon Center and store our Pok?mon there. That was one good thing about Let?s Go Pikachu/Let?s Go Eevee. It?s a way to curb backtracking.

I loved the DexNav. S.O.S. chaining is okay for racking in those IV's, but more tedious. DexNav is easy as you'd get it without hassle, except for some cases.

I also want horde battles to return as a way to make EV Training easier.

Agreed. Not sure if I'll ever play Let's Go or not, but the box thing is definitely one feature I really like about it.

In addition to that, I'd like to have more box space in general. 32 boxes isn't enough. I know people are going to say "but Pokemon Bank exists!" Yes, it does, but it requires paying for a Bank account to use. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if you have to pay for Switch Online AND Pokemon Bank to access Bank now.

I'd like to be able to access all of my Pokemon offline. I have a Living Dex and a lot of event Pokemon from all of my years of playing Pokemon, so I have too many Pokemon for only 32 boxes.

That reminds me of checking a Pokemon's summary at any number of Pokemon you have in your party right after you just caught it instead of having a full team.

And hopefully the return of boosting items (Not Battle Items, i'm talking about O-Power and the like.) to return, which i'm certain it will because it hasn't left, but it did for original Sun and Moon.

No HMs pls

Whether or not Sun and Moon is a good game, getting rid of HMs in exchange for Pok?mon rides through the Pok? Pager was one thing they did right. HMs were only good in the first generation or two, but Game Freak made a step in the right direction by dropping HMs altogether.

honestly, I'd most rather prefer they brought back HMs, but as a completely optional thing. for if you want to use your own personal mon as opposed to what the game gives you for the same intended purpose

rides are nice, but there's something more appealing about being able to use your own mons to me that'd make me willing enough to sacrifice a few move slots for (well, some moves like surf are fantastic regardless, but still...)

more importantly though, bring back field moves. those did nothing wrong

I like the idea of ride Pokemon like in Alola but being able to use your own Pokemon instead of some random one's

I'd prefer the HM's too.

It's a little weird having a Lapras and Mudsdale on my team, and having to page Lapras and Mudsdale for a ride.

Shakes head.
