Random thoughts thread. (New Horizons)

Been trying to find a furniture piece to customize a calendar qr to it. Haven't been having luck finding any though. Furniture pieces that would work for, that is.

I've liked this since day 1 but I really love the sound design overall and have been thinking about it despite not playing recently for some reason. The sound of footsteps— especially on concrete/stone/hard flooring is something that I've always adored lol.

It’s weird whenever my villagers ask me if I want to buy anything in their house. This happens whenever one (say, Rizzo) invites me to his house and says “Anything here you wanna buy?” Imagine you get invited to a friend’s house in real life and that’s the conversation. 😂

Okay I am all for the random visits but I wish there was a set time they show up. When they just appear it prevents you from being able to decorate your house. I dread going into my house just to put stuff away on the chance they just pop in. I mean you can pretend to leave to get them to leave. So at least there's that. Still a hassle though.

And don't get me started on the fact they hold you hostage in their house until THEY decide you can leave. I don't ever accept going to their house because of this.

started a new island yesterday, and today it's raining really hard. i noticed my character starts to dry when holding an umbrella which is really cute. i think new horizons has so many little details that makes you want to move slowly and take in every little thing, which i deeply appreciate

Yeah I don't remember it being so excessive in NL, maybe it was, but I was decorating one of my homes and like 5 times someone tried coming in. I just kept decorating in the spare room until they left, but it was a bit obnoxious and excessive. They really need a way to toggle it on or off.

Yea it seems every time I go to inside my house someone shows up.its why I am glad you can have storage, stoves and dressers outside so I don’t have to go in my house that often.
it would be great to just turn it off.
I have haven’t had a problem with any of them holding my hostage when I visit. I just stay a few minutes and leave.

Wait, they can hold you hostage for a minimum amount of time? I never tried to leave immediately after being invited to a villager's house, but that seems excessive. There really needs to be a "do not disturb" feature in the next game.

My idea for the next game:

For starting, I was thinking like what if we were able to select a theme for our towns. We select one out of the four (or more) themes: Zen, Forest, Castle, City-like, and Country/rural-like for example or if you don't want that, you could go for Original.

Each of the themes would come with a number of starting items (maybe 10 to 15) that are unique to that theme. The Town Hall, Post Office, Nook's Cranny, Able Sisters, Museum and even the villager's homes will also take on a unique appearance. If the player selects original, it would just be like every Animal Crossing game you start, with no items. All the buildings on this theme will just be the normal ones, including your villager's homes.

However, no matter the theme you can freely change stuff like in New Leaf and New Horizons.

I have never gone back to playing an older Animal Crossing game since I start the next one. But if I do go back to an older game now, ACNL will be the earliest game I will return to.

I really hope in the next game, we can keep characters like CJ, Flick, Saharah and Daisy Mae from wondering all over the place. Especially CJ, I can't stand the days he shows up on my island.
I'm highly aware that it was a thing in the older games (because I played them, duh), but I hate wanderers.

I said previously that my island's theme was water. I changed my mind. I'm going themeless again. I realized something about myself. I'm not the the kind of player that can do a themed island. I will get overwhelmed trying to complete the theme and make it look good, then reset out of frustation. So my island is themeless. I'm going to start flattening my island and moviing my villagers to the beach and maybe some ideas will come to me as I work on prep.

Currently watching some videos on landscaping and terraforming ideas, to get some inspiration for my second island, I have not terraformed my first island so I'm kinda new to that feature!

The snow storm is coming for those of us who have our games set to the northern hemisphere.

Right now I don't mind the snow on the ground. But once Toy Day to January 7th (the tree lights) goes away, all the magic does too.

And Holly shrubs. I wish those lasted all winter.

I just realized that Erik is a moose. Maybe if I design his house in Happy Home Paradise, I should have Agent S as his roommate. And the project name? Frostbite Falls.
