Real talk: does anyone actually like Monkeys?

Monkeys are fine gorillas are a hard pass except for Peewee. Hate the gorillas. Started a new island lately and got Hans as my campsite villager. Haven’t played the game since then. I will maybe play again until I can get him amiibo’d out but everytime I pick the game up and think about playing I remember him and I end up doing something else. I really love this island too so I can’t reset over that petty thing. But man it’s so hard to play.

I think maybe something like how the ostriches are all different species (like flamingo, crane, peacock, etc.) would be interesting for a husky! Just make a wolf look like a husky - that might be really cute!

Oh that would be cool, a wolf villager with a husky design could be interesting! The base model of the wolves fits way better than the dogs for that breed, and they did the same with Audie being kind of fox-like so I could see it working out!

Monkeys are not my favorites but since I am trying to earn all villager photos, I've invited numerous monkeys. Monty is probably my favorite of the monkey group. He was on my island ages ago and one of the first photos I earned.

they’re not my favourite by any means, but they’ve actually grown on me a lot over the past year! i don’t mind their design at all; in fact, i think they’re pretty cute. nana is definitely my favourite, but i honestly like all of them (except for monty) in some capacity. insanely underrated imo!

the gorillas, though, are... something else lol. no offence to anyone who likes them!! they’re just not my cup of tea. the only one i like somewhat is rilla, and maybe boyd as well.

The only monkey I like is Tiansheng because of him being inspired by Sun Wukong, a character from Journey to the West. I still haven't gotten his photo but hopefully one day. All the other monkeys are ok, not really a fan of any of them. I really have gorilla vilagers though. Other than Hans, who is a yeti, I generally avoid from any gorilla be my villager.

Monkeys were a mistake. This terrifying species was introduced in WW but you had to actually consent (by downloading them) to have them in your town. From CF on, they could move in at will, wreaking havoc on your rosebeds and emotionally scarring young little yours truly. I still have nightmares based on the time when Tammi popped out from behind a bush to accost me.

Does anyone here actually like any of the monkeys? I never see them on the top of favorite villager lists or wishlists villagers people hope will be in their town in NH.

They're just too close to human to be cute, and I would much rather them be replaced with a more unusual species like Seals, Giraffes (since Gracie hasn't been shown), Red Pandas, Sugar Gliders/Possums, Weasels/Ferrets, Panthers (Leopards, Jaguars), or simply more variety of cats, dogs, and birds so that they have different face shapes, ear shapes, feather plumes, etc. Because of course, cat breeds and dog breeds look very distinct, and there are many species of birds that look very different too. I would really want huskies, samoyeds, poms, shiba inu, and aussie shepherd for dogs. British shorthair, persians, and seal-point birman for cats. I'd like cardinals, peacocks (should be smug male!), and birds with funny crests on their heads, too.

What species would you replace monkeys with? What unique-looking breeds of existing species would you replace them with? Or are you here to defend the honor of monkey villagers?

The only monkey villager I like is Nana. She looks like taffy. I would say Niko too, but he doesn't really count because he's not a villager.

I haven't had much chance to have monkey villagers, but I do adore Elise, that was only due to Pocket Camp but I still like her, And Shari and Tainshang look intersting~!

None of the monkeys have terrible designs, but I can’t say I am a big fan of them. None of them stand out.

I love the monkeys! I think they are very cute and all are special in their own way just like every villager! I know I normally like villager personality more than looks but can you tell me that they are ugly??? I love Deli and Tiansheng just as much as Elise and Monty!

Also Gorillas are some of my favorite villagers, especially Hans and Boone. And I thought the squirrel monkey villager Shari was endearing, I came to appreciate her when she moved to my town in New Leaf and she's one of the better looking sisterly villagers. Deli has a good design too.

The monkeys are not my favorite villagers, but they deserve to exist. My favorite has to be Tiansheng because it comes from Asian mythology. The others don't really interest me. It's not a species that I find cute or interesting, I understand that we can like them, but it's not for me. Not enough room for Tiansheng otherwise, and I'm a little disappointed.
The gorillas, because we are quite close anyway, are no better. Afterwards, I admit I love Rocket. She is one of my favorite villagers. I will definitely have her on my island because she lends itself well to the chosen theme. And because of all the Sisterly villagers, along with Canberra, she's the only one I like.

The Monkey species is far from my favorite species in the series, but I like a few of them well enough.

I have Elise and Tammi as residents in one of my New Leaf towns, a combo circus/magic show town. I figured monkeys would make for good trapeze artists. I like both of their designs; Elise's glasses, lipstick and beauty mark give her a unique look, and I like Tammi's red eyes.

I also like Tiansheng. He's a resident of my New Horizons island. I enjoy his Journey to the West-inspired design based on Son Wukong.

The rest are all just wavering between okay and bad for me.

I'm much more fond of the Gorillas as far as the primates are concerned.

The Monkey species in Animal Crossing is like the Hamster species for me; I like the model, but only a very few of the designs appeal to me. I'd like to see more added in future games.
