Real talk: does anyone actually like Monkeys?

I have never had a monkey islander on my island or my town in New Leaf but I do not mind the design style of the monkey islanders they look cute.

Aww, I like the monkeys! I think their designs are really cute.

The only monkey I've had in my town so far is Nana. I think Tammi and Shari are also really cute, and Tiansheng was an adorable addition too.

I like the monkeys! I think I prefer most of their designs over a lot of the gorilla designs. It would be cool to see Ferret/Weasel/Stoat villagers too, but I don't necessarily think they have to replace monkeys.

I think the monkeys are cool! There should be more of them honestly. I just really really wish we could have a Porter monkey move in; his is the ultimate monkey design. Also, how cool would it be if they made a sock monkey villager??

Of the monkeys we CAN have, I really love Shari and Simon... and Flip was one of my first villagers in New Leaf (along with a couple of gorillas).

I don't like monkeys in real life. As for this game, they're okay. Although the only monkey I like was Porter (who looks like Champ) and Deli. If we're talking about gorillas, that one I like better.

I actually think the monkeys are really cute! Deli is my favorite—I'm honestly surprised he's not higher ranked amongst the standard "cute" villagers—but I also really like Tiansheng, Flip, and Shari too. I think I may have also had Simon at one point in New Leaf iirc, and I think he's fine. I'm not sure I dislike any of them.

I am okay with them. It is not the cutest animal. The ingame monkeys are okay. I would not take one on my island tho ans the Gorillas are just ugly tbh.

I have had one monkey in my NL town and not had a single one since, they dont bother me but i just have my dreamies and there are no monkeys in that lineup.

i do think the ape's are a bit freaky!

Your post made me laugh, I had forgotten no monkeys were allowed on our ACWW towns without our consent :'p
I don't like monkeys either, but it mostly has to do with the fact that they're the only animal I'm scared of I find their models kinda cute actually (unlike gorillas, they're probably the only villager species I fully hate), I think Shari and Nana are pretty nice, and the rest got normal designs for the most part, I really like the =3 face lots of them have going on. But because I'm scared of them irl, I prefer to not have any of them on my town, it's unnerving.

Not a fan of the monkeys. I don't know why, but they aren't really my thing. For other animals I'd like to see in ac? Llamas, dragons (too close to alligators?), maybe skunks...

I love the monkeys! Deli is one of my all-time favorites and I’m hoping for Shari to live on my island at some point.

Monkeys are not something I was drawn to or even tried till I decided to try a whole bunch of villagers I have amiibo for. Then I tried Nana, and I now absolutely love her. I've also tried Elise, and she was too human and at the same time too oddly proportioned for me. I find the tuft of hair on the monkey's heads hit or miss. But I think their curved tails are cute, and I also like the little half moon shape of their ears. I'm looking forward to trying Tiansheng and Flip and seeing how I like them. I'm also interested to see how Shari and Deli grow on me (or not) once they're in my town. I also think monkeys are way cuter than gorillas.

As far as other species ever since I heard someone suggest bats I'm in love with that idea. I'd also like other types of lizards besides alligators. It would be cool if lizard were a general category and the had ones like Bearded Dragons, Iguana, Geckos, Skinks, etc. in it.

I love the monkeys. Tammi is my favorite villager. The way they move their tails around is cute. There aren’t too many of them and they used to be really special in Wild World iirc. They always felt special to me since. A couple of the designs are iffy but the only one I really dislike is the one with makeup. Deli and Shari are great, and Monty and Simon are kinda cool. I miss Champ badly. Tiansheng is kinda cool too. Nana is really cute and imo underrated as well. I don’t understand the monkey hate at all honestly.

edit: I went to double-check, and the monkeys were event-exclusive in Wild World. So yeah, they were pretty special back then.

I like them, personally. Monty was one of my islanders for this game, and I've had Shari in New Leaf. I've probably invited others back too, but I can't remember any further than NL. I really wanted Tiansheng on my island, but I ended up getting the last villager for my island and I don't have the right amiibo cards to invite the others back.

I try not to hate on villagers cause every villager is special to at least someone, but I can't deny I'm not the hugest fan of the monkeys

I think it'd be really cool to see lionesses! It's super weird that there are strictly only male lions; perhaps Nintendo feels that a lioness may look too similar to the tiger models??
It's also really weird that there are bear cubs but no "baby" versions of any other species! Just think, little kittens, puppies, wolf pups, ducklings, etc. AAAA it'd be SO CUTE

As for the dogs/cats/others needing more breeds, I think there's already at least some attempt at showing different breeds: Portia is clearly a Dalmatian, Mac looks to be a Bulldog/Boxer, Butch's coloration reminds me of a Rottweiler which would fit with his cranky persona, Shep looks to be a sheep dog, Goldie a Golden Retriever etc. and this is just for the dogs alone
I think making individual models for each breed would just be an unnecessary expense and would make the villagers look a bit confusing (a Husky dog villager modeled to look more accurate to an actual Husky would look way too similar to the wolves for example), so doing so through the villager designs alone is a good compromise and gets the idea across

I actually like some of the monkeys, I think they're really cute! Wouldn't have them in my town personally, but they are cute. Now, gorillas? I cannot STAND the gorillas. They are my least favorite species and unfortunately some of them will have to step foot in my town so I can collect their photos (looking at you, Rilla.)

I think making individual models for each breed would just be an unnecessary expense and would make the villagers look a bit confusing (a Husky dog villager modeled to look more accurate to an actual Husky would look way too similar to the wolves for example), so doing so through the villager designs alone is a good compromise and gets the idea across

I think maybe something like how the ostriches are all different species (like flamingo, crane, peacock, etc.) would be interesting for a husky! Just make a wolf look like a husky - that might be really cute!
