Splatoon SPLATOON 3

I'm most likely getting this just for Salmon Run. I already have the date saved. I haven't played any Switch game in a long, long while, and this will be a perfect game to come back.

I’m pretty hype for this. It will probably be game of year for me.

I'm so hyped just gotta wait until September! Within Splat2 I have a thing that I am doing where I am not collecting any level up super snails until Splat3 comes out! I've been doing this since earlier this year so I'm not sure how many I have waiting for me, I'll find out in September I guess!

Posting mostly to bump this up for potential discussion due to tomorrow’s direct. I won’t be able to watch it live as I’ll be at work when it airs, but I will catch general Twitter notifications to tie me over until I can watch it properly later on. Really looking forward to more news about this game. Also hopefully news of preorders for that sweet sweet special Edition OLED.

I'm not hyped about the Nintendo direct. I'd probably just watch it after, if there would be SR-related things. I just want to play my games.

i dont think i like any of the new character designs :v too bad. i probs wont pick it up, splatoon 1 had my life in a grip for the longest time but splatoon 2 didnt keep my attention. i doubt 3 will do it. don't really think they've added enough to make a whole new game but i haven't seen much yet so maybe that will change.

I got into Splatoon 2 super late but it ended up being the game I play the most consistently, even now. I'm so excited to play this one at launch!! The new specials kind of terrify me but in a good way. I'm loving the updates they made to SR, which is what I'll probably be playing the most. I was already super hyped when they mentioned the egg tossing, so I was happy to see more footage. I'm not a huge Splatoon lore person and I didn't care for the idols or story mode... but I am obsessed with Lil Buddy and Big Man, truly.

Saw the Direct live this morning. Looks promising. Was enough shown to justify a new game? Eh, it depends on who you are, and I don't think anyone can honestly answer this until Sept. 9th, anyway.
Looks good and excited for some of the new things.
My only question is the Demo that's out soon, does anything carry over, or is it just a Demo with a Splatfest?
Good question. I didn't play the second game when it was in beta because I didn't own a Switch at the time, but I've heard that rank and such did carry over, so I can assume it's the same here.

There is something on the Splatoon 3 official site about data carrying over, but I did ask about the Demo on the Splatoon Discord Server and someone said. that when 2 came out and they did a similar thing for a 1 Day Test, nothing from that carried over.

I double checked on Google and it turns that person may be correct. I hope I didn't mislead you; I was just going off what I heard from somewhere else.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about 3 teams in a Splatfest.

Splatoon Splatfests were fine, because it was all new and things felt even. Splatoon 2 is when I began to see people hopping onto message boards just to see what teams the majority/pro players were joining...which resulted in the Splatfests feeling very one sided a lot of the time.

Splatoon 3 appears to be encouraging squad team ups.

HUGE fan of being able to just purchase/select your buffs though. I hated constantly rerolling to get the right slots just the way I wanted them.

No, not at all :)

The 3 teams splatfest had me curious as well. It’s a lot different.

I just wish they'd have separate "rank" (Salmon Run) for freelance and those who likes to twin or play in squads like how it is in Ranked and League Battle. It would separate those playing legit FL and those overusing the term "FL" but actually playing with "friends" aka cheaters lol

I rly like shiver but I hate the other two idols this time around. They just kinda look unnatural (that and bias towards Marina LOL)

I watched the Direct, and I'm looking forward to the game. Decorating lockers seems fun, and I'm excited for the first Splatfest. I'll probably join team scissors~

Reminder that the Splatoon 3 splatfest world premier is on August 27th from 9am to 9pm pacific time. The preload is already up on the eshop and is free, it opens on the 25th. There are three teams this time but I still don't know which one to pick, I want to pick scissors but I get the feeling that a lot of people are going to pick scissors and I actually want to have matches against the enemy teams this time.

Looking forward to it, though I’m not particularly excited about anything.

Curious about the 3 way Splatfest. 2 v 2 v 4 seems kinda… off.

And where’s Splashdown? 😩
I’ll miss jumping to a teammate with Splashdown at the ready…

Not really feeling the inflatable shark on rails. Did they also get rid of the baller? Don’t think I saw it in the direct.
The shark (don’t remember what it’s called) Just seems like a more restrictive baller, but I guess it makes up in speed.

Love the new weapons tho, had a feeling they were gonna give us another melee weapon… if you count rollers as melee.

P.S. Rocks can crush scissors and be thrown through paper. Rock always wins. Our victory is inevitable

ooooh i'm glad i remembered to preorder the game already 😊 i finished rewatching the direct today and it honestly looks fantastic! i'm super excited to play~ i played the original splatoon a lot when it came out but i kinda fell off with splatoon 2 (aside from forum related events) i'm really intrested to see how the new trio splatfest format will play out. i'm not sure how i feel about it yet but time will tell 😃

Here's a slew of Japanese commercials to generate more hype for Splatoon 3:
Three should be enough. Y'all can watch the other half directly on Nintendo's JP channel.
