It's really strange. I'm 28 now, but when I was in high school, a lot of people I know really liked them, or at least acknowledged that they were an amazing band. But maybe, like you said, now that people are a bit older and have developed their musical tastes a bit more, they are just sick of always hearing about them and maybe annoyed by the fact that more recent bands don't get the same amount of praise. I think the thing about The Beatles is, it's not about how good they were as a band, because I'll admit, some of the songs from their earlier albums were a bit insipid. I think it's more about how they changed the music industry. They were so experimental and influential, and they really paved the way for future bands.

Haha, sorry for the long response. Not all of it's aimed at you specifically. Some of this I just wrote for people who dislike The Beatles to read.

I would agree that whether or not people like The Beatles depends on generation it seems, which isn't particularly surprising.
I would admit that I sometimes feel like ABBA is underrated.

But here's a contentious opinion: The Beach Boys > The Beatles

George Harrison was such a cutie lol I loved the Beatles when I was young and my parents would play their music. When I got older I actually got to learn how important their music was for the overall history of rock n roll and appreciate what they did. I still love their music since it's always been in my life and some of their songs are near and dear to my heart.

I never got why all of a sudden it was "cool" to hate the Beatles or whatever because yeah some of them were pretty crappy dudes or for whatever reason but I'm still fine with their music. It just kind of annoys me how their most popular songs are not that great compared to other songs they have. Although some of their hits were pretty great songs. I just like the Beatles lol

I like the Beatles, not a favorite band or anything, but I enjoy some of their songs. Also I like Across the Universe the movie

Very much so. They're not my favourite by any means, but I've liked them since I was a teenager. I much prefer the 60/70/80's music to anything we have now

But here's a contentious opinion: The Beach Boys > The Beatles

I would agree with that if The Beach Boys had made a couple of more records like Pet Sounds.They would have if Brian Wilson had stayed off the drugs.Another reason I don't think they're better than The Beatles is that they had session musicians playing on some of their records(including Pet Sounds).The actual Beach Boys just recorded the vocals.I've always liked The Beach Boys but wonder what could have been?
