The Glasses/Contacts Thread

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Glasses, they make me look civilized.

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Nearsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Rectangular glasses.

Are they plastic or metal?
Plastic.

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
I like rectangular frames.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I need them to see beyond arm's reach.

I'm short sighted. I usually wear plastic, square framed glasses as I think they suit me better than any other shapes.
Contacts are a bit too fiddly for me and I would probably end up poking my eye out. I've never tried them.

I personally think I would look prettier with contacts but... I'm horrible at putting things in my eyes! I can't even use eye drops without flinching. So for now, I'm wearing metal rectangular glasses because those are the ones that look best on me.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not? Glasses. Contacts give me headaches, + I hate my nose and my glasses make it less of a bother.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted? Nearsighted.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)? They're rectangles with rounded edges. Black with sparkles on the sides.
Are they plastic or metal? Plastic.
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses? They look the best with my face shape.
Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)? I need my glasses to see pretty much everything. I sometimes take them off to read though.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not? I hate glasses but have never tried contacts, so I guess contacts in theory.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted? Near-sighted.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)? Black rectangular ones.
Are they plastic or metal? Plastic.
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses? I didn't, a friend of mine has the same eyesight and gave me her extra pair because mine were crap.
Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)? I have to wear them all the time, but I don't if I'm just sitting around or whatever. But to see anything, yeah I have to wear them. Particularly while driving. I have to take my glasses off while reading or doing anything close-up like painting, writing, etc.

I want to try contacts but I just haven't gotten around to it, honestly. My glasses are a constant pain in the ass, they're too big for my face so if I lean forward they'll fall right off. You have no idea how frustrating this is when I'm trying to do things like sweep & mop at work. If I have to bend over to do something I actually have to hold my glasses on, it's ridiculous. If contacts don't work out I'll obviously just get a new pair of glasses that fit (also I hate the look of these ones anyways, I'd get something different).

I'd love to just have corrective surgery but I'm still a little hesitant even though I've heard good things.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not? Contacts, I only where them when I go to school to see the board. When I go home I just take them out and don't wear anything.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted? Nearsighted, I can't see distance.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)? I have these rectangle ones I don't use.
Are they plastic or metal? Metal
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses? Because I had too. I don't wear them though.
Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)? Just for school. As I said, when I get home I take them out and just wear nothing on my eyes because I can see close and I can read a book and anything it's just the distance, like TV

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? I'm sure I would prefer contacts if I could wear them.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted? Near-sighted.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)? Mine are square like, more so rectangular than anything.
Are they plastic or metal? They are metal.
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses? Well I love the color purple and thought the diamond-like shapes looked nice on the sides of them. ^^
Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)? I need to wear my glasses for eeeeeverything, lol. I am so blind without them. D:

I have been wearing glasses since around 4th grade when I realized I couldn't really see the chalk board from where I was sitting at school. I hated them for years until I realized: "These make me able to see, I might as well start liking them!" and picking out something stylish often helps. I honestly don't mind wearing them at all, though I did go to see if I could get contacts out of curiosity and they told me that my eyes were too dry for them. I like how I look without them, but I also don't mind how I look with them. Meh, lol.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
I prefer glasses. There's no need for me to use contacts, then again I wouldn't wear contacts since I'm such a chicken to put anything inside my eye unless it's eyedrops.

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
I'm nearsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
They're kinda round square

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
They looked nice lol but when I started wearing them they felt weird on me that I gave up and decided to keep using my old glasses, but now I use my new ones.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I just use it when I'm watching tv and using the computer to see clearer. Everything else is good.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?

I prefer glasses, but that's because I've never had contacts before. But I will in a week or two!

They match my facial structure, plus I liked the design on them. (Little moons and stars)

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?

I need to wear them for everyday activities.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Contacts, but I never tried contacts. It won't be a good idea since I'm clumsy and careless, I would either break or lose it, or forgetting to take it off, etc. So I have to stick to glasses

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Farsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Square with rounded corners.

Are they plastic or metal?
Metal.

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
It's the one that fits my face and it doesn't have flashy colors

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I need it every time actually, but I don't like wearing glasses. Only wore it when I need/want to. When everything around me is blurry, it's easier to ignore people :p

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
I haven't tried contacts. My eyes are kinda sensitive so idk how well it would work out..

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Neeear

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Rectangley ovals

Are they plastic or metal?
Metal! I would have gone with plastic but they don't have adjustable nose pieces

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
I needed a petite-size metal frame that came in dark purple. They were also supposed to be good for my face shape, but who knows!

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
Errrrrrrything. I can't be seen without my glasses! (Johnny Bravo anyone?)

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?

i prefer contacts because i don't think my glasses look nice on me, but they irritate my eyes and i can't wear them for longer than 3 hours at a time

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)? I need them 24/7 unless I'm sleeping or showering

I like wearing glasses, they suit me and my face would feel naked without them lol. And I'm basically too lazy for contacts ^_^

I hope ya'll don't mind me reviving this old thread because there's no point creating a new one, and seems to have some good points of discussion
Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
I only recently got glasses in the past 6 months, so I haven't tried contacts. I'm happy with glasses at the moment, even if they're a pain at some times.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted?

Nearsighted! With slight astigmatism in one eye. I also have very high eye pressures, so I need to keep them monitored every few months.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Kinda squarish and rounded.

Are they plastic or metal?
Plastic. I'm not sure if I'll go for plastic again though as they seem to slip a lot haha.
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
These were one of the only pairs at my optometrist that I liked haha.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I don't need them for everything. I use them in classes, when I'm driving or when I'm playing video games on the TV. Basically anything where I need long distance sight. I don't usually need them at work (I work in a kitchen so they're EXTREMELY annoying) or at home, and only wear them when I need to.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Contact lenses, I hate glasses. I take my lenses out every night to give my eyes a break. I hate having to clean glasses all the time and the constant glares on the lenses...

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Nearsighted, I got this from my mother who’s the same as me and my dad is farsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Uhh, the best way to describe them are large square ones

Are they plastic or metal?
mainly plastic with a bit of metal on the arms

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
I hate glasses in general and I don’t think that they suit me so these are the ones that suit me the best.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I need them for everything lol I’m blind.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Glasses. Much less work than contacts. And nothing gets trapped behind them.
Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Very Nearsighted.
What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Rounded square? They're aviators.
Are they plastic or metal?
Metal.
Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
They were one of the few styles online that came in my size, and besides that, I remember fondly my dad rocking the aviators when I was a kid, and I look just like him.
Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
Everyday everything. I can navigate my house without them if I need to, but I'm at a serious disadvantage for everything without them. I can see 4 inches in front of my face clearly.

I have both glasses and contacts, though I prefer to wear glasses and just keep daily contacts that I can wear on occasion and then throw out.

I’m near sighted, and my eyes are super bad that most optometrists are surprised when they see just how bad they are.

Right now I have square plastic frames because I’m a fan of how they look, but my current glasses suck majorly. They’ve broken half almost a dozen times and they’re currently held together with hope and a ton of super glue, but I’m hoping to get new glasses this summer because that’s when my insurance renews.

I use my glasses for everything because I’m close to being legally blind without them, but mostly if I’m reading on my phone I’ll take my glasses off so my eyes don’t get too hurt because they strain a lot when I read on my phone.

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Glasses. I don't like things I can't feel, and it adds a nice frame to my face.

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Nearsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
They're square and black.

Are they plastic or metal?
Plastic.

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
I got the most basic option for now and black glasses just seem classic to me. I'd really love white temples though.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
I need them for everything and I don't feel comfortable doing stuff with my vision blurred.

Now this is a thread revival if I ever saw one...

Do you prefer contacts or glasses? Why or why not?
Glasses - I "can't" wear contacts because I can't put them in, so they never let me have them. I can't stand the idea of physically placing something on my bare, naked eyeball.

Are you nearsighted or farsighted?
Farsighted.

What kind of glasses do you have (round, square, oval, ect.)?
Black and square.

Are they plastic or metal?
My dailies are plastic, I also have another pair of metal ones I don't wear as often.

Why did you choose your particular style of glasses?
Black and square - can't go wrong. I have anti-reflective coating on my daily pair - helps for my job of sitting in front of a computer all day.

Do you need to use your glasses/contacts for everyday activities or just for reading (or for something else)?
Yep. The general idea is that farsighted folk "only need reading glasses" but that'd be for weaker prescriptions I'm sure - I cannot read anything in normal and some larger print without them on, and even stuff far away is difficult very to focus on - assuming I can focus on it at all. I get pretty bad eye strain and then headaches without them on.
