The Information Desk: Ask questions about the site here!

I haven't seen it happen yet, but I was thinking about something: if a gifted collectible contains a message that breaks TBT rules, like including a partially censored forbidden curse word or something, how can it be reported?
The best way to handle it would be to report them through their profile. In the report, explain which collectible contains the rule breaking message and what it says in the report (i.e. "The message on their Star Wand contains the forbidden word boogers"), then we'll investigate and take action if it's deemed necessary.

We don't and can't moderate private messages between users on any other platform than TBT itself, so off-site messages can't technically violate TBT rules. However, action may be taken if we have reason to believe that a specific member is harassing other TBT users via Discord or behaving in such a way that violates the safety of our community.
So, would action be taken on a non-official TBT server where certain users speak rudely about me or are judgmental? Or is that not possible because said users are not directly harassing me?

I actually talked to the staff about this. They won’t take action for off-site behavior unless if you’re threatening others’ safety or are harassing them. If said message on a spin-off TBT server or any off-site community involved yours or others’ personal information being leaked, death threats, hate speech, or anything else serious like that directed towards another member on this forum, and the reason was Bell Tree related, then not only will the staff take action against the user who made these posts, but you must also report these kinds of posts. But if someone simply insulted you on an unofficial TBT server, then no, it won’t count against them.

yes that sounds like a recipe for disaster lol, especially because spinoff servers have a tendency to become clique-y.

who do I have to bribe to get a zodiac snake figurine? 💰 🐍
I'll do it for a box of ice-cream sandwiches.

Hey all, I've deleted several recent posts here and let's please stop bringing up drama from other communities. Sure, the community being referred to is based on TBT, but we don't run it or have any say in what happens there. This recent discussion kind of serves as an example of why things are separate. We have our own rules and methods of moderation that help TBT remain as fair, respectful, appropriate, and welcoming as possible. Another community may use a different approach that we don't necessarily agree with.

To give an example of a case when we would intervene, imagine you're on Discord and receive a DM containing a scam link. Your only mutual server is TBT's. In this case, the person/bot is clearly targeting users from the TBT server, so we would ban them from the server. Similarly, if a TBT user found you on the forum and started DMing you on Discord with harassments, threats, etc., we would address it in some way.

Is it okay to make a thread in the "Nintendo Treehouse" about trading Pokemon cards, by any chance? Since I'm assuming it's only okay to trade Amiibo/Gummy cards in the "AC Amiibo Card Post Office"?
Amiibo cards are the only items with real world value that we allow to be traded on TBT.

My backdrop isn’t hidden but it won’t show up? It keeps going to the back of my inventory even through its the most recent thing. Helps?

Taking a look, it looks like the Thparkling Thermosphere backdrop is still active in your inventory. Once you deactivate it, the other backdrop will show up for you!

Is there a way to disable certain reactions on certain threads? I don’t think the celebrate react is appropriate for the What’s Bothering You thread, for that I see a possibility that future trolls could abuse it to celebrate bad things.
I agree with that! I hope the forum technology makes this possible.

Might as well add the like button to that too, if react locks can be a thing.

aaa I think most of the time on here if people leave "likes" on posts in What's Bothering You, it's meant sympathetically, not as a literal "I like that that happened to you!" ;u; Same with "love" tending to mean "sending love", not "I love this"; I can't think of a good interpretation of the celebrate react in that thread though. This was more common to see before the Hug react was added ofc, but I know a few users have mentioned not feeling comfortable with receiving Hug reacts, so I try to leave sympathy likes for them instead! I definitely don't mean them in a "sucks for you!" kinda way asdkljghfd

Onto my question, has anyone been having trouble with spoiler tags duplicating themselves lately? When I'm previewing my event entries and getting ready to submit, I often notice there'll be one or two extra copies of my proof spoiler. I have to toggle BB Code and remove the extra tags, sometimes more than once, before the issue is fixed. I feel like it happens most often when there's a lot of images/post formatting.

You're not alone! I've also had that happen to me while I was formatting my Aetherial Aesthetics entry, and sometimes with my art thread posts too.
