aaa I think most of the time on here if people leave "likes" on posts in What's Bothering You, it's meant sympathetically, not as a literal "I like that that happened to you!" ;u; Same with "love" tending to mean "sending love", not "I love this"; I can't think of a good interpretation of the celebrate react in that thread though. This was more common to see before the Hug react was added ofc, but I know a few users have mentioned not feeling comfortable with receiving Hug reacts, so I try to leave sympathy likes for them instead! I definitely don't mean them in a "sucks for you!" kinda way asdkljghfd

I agree but I prefer consistency. Others may not still view it the same way 3 years later vs 5 years ago.

Is there a way to disable certain reactions on certain threads? I don’t think the celebrate react is appropriate for the What’s Bothering You thread, for that I see a possibility that future trolls could abuse it to celebrate bad things.
Sadly, that's not possible right now. We were discussing the option of restricting the Valentine's reaction to only the event threads, but Jeremy said the best he could do is restrict it by board I think. Individual threads are not possible.

However, we do understand that the reactions could be misused in a hurtful manner. It's one of the reasons we've been very careful about which ones to add. If you come across this and it seems purposefully done with ill intent, please report it. It would be considered rude behavior which is against our rules.

I’m sure I’ve accidentally ‘celebrated’ a post for a split second instead of ‘hugging’ it before, maybe they should switch around to not be next to each other if you’re doing that^ but maybe I’m the only one who’s done that 😂

Can you get warnings for reaction abuse on TBT’s Discord too (like if someone uses the 😡 react to a political post they disagree with)?

I have accidentally hit the wrong reaction several times and had to quickly correct it. So I also want to assure everyone, we wouldn't just toss warnings around for an incorrect reaction. If it became a pattern, that would be a different story.

I haven't discussed this with the other mods, but my personal opinion is that's not the same as expressing joy at someone else's misfortune. If you post something political, there will be people who agree or disagree and they are allowed their opinion in the same way you are.

Generally, we would prefer not to see a lot of political posts because they often devolve into arguments. Although we have not said such discussions are forbidden as long as they remain civil.

Note: None of the staff views human rights as politics. They are vital rights for everyone and anyone posting in opposition of that would be violating our rule against discrimination.

Question about the multiplayer channels.

Are we allowed to use them or even use TBT to host sessions involving NSO expansion exclusive games (i.e. Nintendo 64 multiplayer tournaments)?

a blank space in between the celebrate react and hug react would be really nice.. I am always worried about celebrating by accident

Is threatening to report another member or telling another member that you reported them against the rules? The rules don’t say anything about threatening to report another user, but if it’s against the rules, where would that go under?

I'm trying to change my avatar to a GIF and I keep getting this error I haven't seen before, it's not the same error TBT gives me when a GIF file size is too large for the server or when my avatar should be a larger pixel size.
1: Yes I have the Avatar Animation in my inventory and it is set to active
2: The GIFs in particular I wanted to use are all less than 5 kilobytes in file size, they aren't some huge GIF the server can't process
3: The GIFs I wanted to use are smaller than 400x400 pixels (wouldn't it say I need a bigger image if that was the issue?)
4: I tried clearing my browser cache and that didn't fix it.
Why do I keep getting this strange error and how do I fix it?

As far as I know, whenever I've tried to upload a gif there may be some gifs that don't work for whatever reason. You also need to make sure the gif isn't too many frames long. TBT doesn't support gifs with lots and lots of frames in them. You can use a gif editing tool online in order to cut out unnecessary frames. Also make sure the gif isn't too large, but that's a given.

If I recall correctly, gifs on this site have to be like, smaller than a certain amount file size in order to be usable. It's kinda unfortunate that there's such limitations, but that's just the way it is.

Ohhh those specific GIFs I wanted to use were all 60+ frames which is quite a lot more frames compared to most GIFs I use, that didn't even occur to me that is why I cannot upload specific GIFs because they have way too many frames even though their file size is only a few kilobytes. Thank you so much Riley!
