Pokémon The Pokémon Challenge Thread

EDIT @Midoriya I GOT THE STORAGE ISSUE SETTLED

So I'm redoing an old challenge on Sword where I have to complete the entire Galar Pokedex, not counting DLC, before I get to Wyndon. The only Pokémon I'm allowed to transfer are the box legendaries and Eternatus, as they're physically unobtainable before Wyndon. The rest I have to hunt down either by natural encounter, or if Shield exclusive, via Surprise Trade. I can go to the Isle of Armor or Crown Tundra to get a team member, but those Pokédexes don't count. Last time I did this I failed a shiny Vanillish because I was multitasking and ran from it, so I'm hoping the shiny gods bless me with another full-odds encounter to make up for it!

Update on Emearld since I dusted it off to play again when I could XD I also just trained my pokemon a lil from what I left off. I will try and get round to whitee 2, and just started Diamond again (first gym sadly killed me so redid it)

Second Gym: Being punched in the face
My team:
Wingull (LV 17) Peeko.Jr
Marshtomp (LV16) Marmoris (Name meaning 'The shining surface of the ocean')
Zigzagoon (LV16)Hunch
Poochyena (LV16) Irono (Called them this because it's 'Ironic' to their Pokedex entry)
Whismur (LV5) Whis-Ohh
Sableye (LV16) Rihan (Name based on Rihanna who sung a song called Diamonds)

(In boxes was my other Whismur which I trained to Level 16 too)

I gotta say, I was quite worried with this gym, look at all those Pokemon who would get smashed just by their pinkie. Wingull was my main OP in this fight, but I was worried with Meditite, expecting a confusion attack. So I thought Poochyena would do better.

First was Machop, and Wigull came out. Wingull did take some damage because of that blasted bulk up. He also used a blasted super potion, but I thought that was fine, because then he wouldn;t use it later. I had to use a potion as well, but defeated him well, but was still hurt.

OH BOI
Okay first, I wanna say, I tried my hardest to find what moveset his pokemon had, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I had to go on their level moveset, but Mediaite was laughing at me and bloody focus punch!! And killed Irono!! ;_;
I was extremely worried, but brought out Marmoris, and found out that his mud shot really hurt Meditite, and kept stopping Meditite from focusing so I had the chance to go all out on it, he used his last super potion but I kept on going till they fainted.

Makuhita was going to be a problem, I needed to heal Peeko Jr, and I didn't want Makuhita to try anything while I did so. I am super glad I brought that other Whismur to use as bait while I healed. I have a better Whismur in boxes so I wasn't as sad as I was, unlike Irono ;_:

I brought out Peeko Jr, and with the fuel of his dead friends, we carried on wing attacking him until Makuhita was down!

So sad about Irono man...

Wait, question for Emerald. Just realised Sableye is Dark/ghost (never had the chance to use them, so forgot easily) but does it mean it's immune to psychic powers?

Yes, Dark-types are immune to Psychic-type moves. Ghost-types are neutral against Psychic-types, though.

Thank you~!
I was given the TM thief so was thinking of adding that to Sableye so there was a type move advantage; was just a lil worried about having to deal with Wally.

More so, that I accidentally killed the Pokemon I was going to catch on route 17 (Illumise) so will now have to focus on levelling up Marshtomp and the others before the electric gym :/ I did grab a Gulpin beforehand.

Hello again~

My Diamond Nuzlocke Walkthrough:

I felt like I had to mention my last save that got defeated by the first gym. I had a great team as far as I remember.
Had Chimchar, Bidoof, Starly, Zubat, Geodude, Magikarp, Bedew and luckily Abra.
I didn’t throw a poke ball and hoped for the best, I had Chimchar use taunt, so it couldn’t leave with teleport~!
And Abra had the hidden power move, I dunno what typing it was, but my days, Abra slayed so well. So I even decided to trade it over to another game, until I know what typing that hidden power was!
This time around, I tried finding Abra that way again, but sadly got Shinx and accidentally killed it. :/

So anyways~ here’s my team and gym battle!

Name: Dusk (Opposite name of Dawn)
Rivel: Lupin

Team for first gym:

Machop: (LV 15) Luisa (Encanto is a great movie)
Zubat (LV 9) Redrum
Bidoof (LV 9) Cinnamon
Bedew (LV 15) Petunia (holding quick claw)
Staravia (LV 14) Pave ( ;) )
Chimchar (LV 10) Fritz

In boxes:
Magikarp (LV 8) Haten - I fished at Twinleaf Town, because that route 218 will have a better Pokemon once I surf.
Geodude (LV 6) Clinq
Onix (LV 8 ) Shazam

As you can see, Machop and Bedew were my main fighters this time around. There weren't many Pokemon I wanted to train due to the lack of Pokemon in the small areas. But it’s fine, I’ll focus on them very soon.

Roark first brought out Geodude, and I brought out Machop to karate chop it into gemstones.

Then it said Roark was planning on bringing out Cranidos…....................Why tho

My original idea for this, was that Roark was going to bring out Onix first, and I’ll bring out Bedew to growth several times before killing Onix, so the growth will still be there for when Cranidos comes out.
But I guess, the game hates my plan, so I switched to Bedew.

I was extremely worried, and didn’t bother growthing, and just spammed Mega drain, quick claw activated, he used a potion, and I got hurt from pursuit but I luckily got him down this time!!

I kept Bedew in for Onix, growth’d once for good measure and killed him instantly.

Glad this time it went well. I believe I lost a pokemon in the mine against a machop? I think I lost Bedew that time around. But this time I was ready. Now I can relax a little~
I’ll focus on leveling up Zubat and Chimchar for the second gym. Might try and use Onix soon as well, just interested in what it could do?

Emerald: Third gym, always that electric gym ;_;

Team:
Marshtomp (LV 24) Marmoris
Sableye (LV 21) Rihan
Zigzagoon (LV 22) Hunch
Wingull (LV 21) Peeko Jr
Gulpin (LV 22) Acid Reflux (I had to name him this!)

Yeahhhh, Marmoris is my main op for this battle.

Voltorb came out (Beforehand I nervously checked it didn’t had explosion, and will be avoiding voltorb in it’s later levels like the plague) and was instantly killed.
Electrike comes in, and for a split second I was thinking of changing the pokemon, but decided not to, and they immediately fainted.

Now for Magneton. Of course it bloody uses super sonic! I get hurt by the confusion and a sonic boom, but was luckily able to kill it afterwards.
Time for Manectric. I’m a lil low on health, and tried to do a mud shot, but I was still hurt by confusion. Manectric continues to howl and I heal.
I finally get it’s HP into red as it howls once more. My only worry is if it does a quick attack; which it does. I need to stop jinxing myself. But was able to finish it off the next round. :)

I dunno, electric gyms always scare me for some reason. And Wattson didn’t use any of his positions.

For now, Just need to get an extra member, I only have six.
I plan to keep Zigzagoon and Whismur as they are until they learn a certain move, then evolve them. Pin missile and Stomp.

I decided I'll be doing another challenge on Pokemon Shining Pearl. I really want to play the game again, and this seems like a unique challenge.

A Pokemon Shining Pearl Starterlocke! Basically, you choose one starter from generations 1, 2, and 3, and then use those with all three Sinnoh starters on your team. If one of them faints even once, it's recorded (but they aren't released). This is to help circumvent the problem of not being able to catch more Pokemon. Once everyone on the team has fainted at least once, the challenge is considered a loss.

I really, really like the way this is set up because it'll force me to be careful and know my team's movesets inside and out. I'll be using Charmander, Chikorita, Mudkip, Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup for this challenge. That should give me double the trouble against Volkner when/if I get to him (because of Swampert and Torterra's Electric immunity).

I'll report on my progress as soon as I get my first gym badge. Wish me luck! :D

Update on my Pokemon Shining Pearl Starterlocke!

I managed to get my starter, Chimchar, and it happened to be female so I nicknamed it "Maki Oze" after the anime character Maki Oze in Fire Force. She's often called a "gorilla cyclops" in the show, so I thought it was fitting.

From there I traveled to the first gym, defeating trainers along the way. Maki evolved into a Monferno, and I was able to successfuly beat Roark with only her.

With the help of a friend I received eggs for my other five team members. I nicknamed them all after characters from anime based on what they're like. Mudkip is nicknamed "Kisame" after Kisame in Naruto Shippuden, one of the Akatsuki members. He has a shark sword in the show and uses water-based attacks, so I thought it was fitting. I also absolutely love the nature he has, and that he already has Counter, typical of the actual Kisame.

Turtwig was nicknamed "Kamui Woods" after Kamui Woods in My Hero Academia. Him having Heavy Slam already is pretty fitting.

Piplup was nicknamed "Tanjiro" after Tanjiro in Demon Slayer. His nature, which boosts his speed, fits him well.

Chikorita was nicknamed "Hanami" after Hanami in Jujutsu Kaisen. Another villain character, his nature fits him like Kisame's nature does. Having Aromatherapy to heal allies fits him as well.

Charmander was nicknamed "Natsu" after Natsu in Fairy Tail. Natsu uses fire-based attacks in the show, so it fits.

And that's my team. Overall their natures actually turned out to be pretty good, and I'm glad I remembered to have them traded as eggs and not actual Pokemon, otherwise they would stop obeying me as they grow stronger. I'm looking forward to continuing this challenge and heading to Eterna City!

Update on my Pokemon Shining Pearl Starterlocke!

I made my way to Eterna City, battling trainers along the way. Tanjiro almost died to a Hiker's Pokemon's critical hit, but survived, and then Kisame came in and took it out. Everyone ended up evolving into their middle stages. I then took on the Eterna City gym, which was a breeze considering I have two Fire types on my team. I beat Gardenia and earned my second gym badge. When I next play I'll be heading to the Galactic Building in Eterna City. I believe Kisame will be good here against Jupiter's Skuntank because of his Ground typing.

I ended up getting rid of my Pokemon Shining Pearl Starterlocke because it was beginning to become very boring and way too easy.

Restarted my game and decided to shake things up some. I'll be attempting a Pokemon Shining Pearl Wonderlocke challenge! This type of challenge wasn't possible in the original Diamond and Pearl games, but is now in this game thanks to the Global Wonder Station (because Wonder Trade/Surprise Trade didn't exist back then).

I already got my first gym badge and traded away my starter and two other Pokemon, and this is the team I've received. Not a bad starting team at all. It'll be easy to evolve them into Azumarill, Alakazam, and Milotic respectively. I am going to need more options against Gardenia, however.

An update on my Pokemon Shining Pearl Wonderlocke!

I continued on while battling trainers. Some of my Pokemon evolved, while my level 18 female Alakazam fainted to Mars's Purugly's Thief. Because of this, I had to release it. It was difficult to lose an ace Pokemon that early in the game, but I didn't let it stop me. I needed one more good Pokemon against Gardenia, and got a level 20 Hoothoot in exchange for a Buneary from Eterna Forest in Wonder Trade. It evolved into a Noctowl and learned Extrasensory.

I wouldn't need it against Gardenia, however, as I was able to sweep her entire team with my Skorupi and the move Fell Stinger. Fell Stinger is a move in this game that drastically raises the Attack stat each time a Pokemon is knocked out. Because of this, and because her Cherubi and Turtwig are super effectively weak to it, Skorupi's Attack stat was maxed when Roserade was sent out. I was able to defeat it easily and win my second gym badge.

Alakazam is lost, but not forgotten. I'm actually okay with it though because, while Alakazam is super powerful, it's not that fast, and is one of the reasons why I lost my previous Nuzlocke attempt in the game.

Next I'll be heading towards Veilstone City, site of the third gym badge!

Another update on my Pokemon Shining Pearl Wonderlocke!

I traveled through routes while battling trainers, and some of my Pokemon evolved. No one else has died yet, although my newly evolved Gardevoir came painfully close to dying to a Machoke's Poison Jab, but it survived at 12 health points. I just recently beat Maylene and Crasher Wake, and when I next play I'll be heading towards Celestic Town, and then back to Hearthome City to battle against Fantina. I can already tell Drapion is going to be my secret weapon against her. :D

Final update on my Pokemon Shining Pearl Wonderlocke challenge!

I continued to battle trainers, gym leaders, and more on my quest for the Pokemon League. My team evolved, we gained new allies, and finally at last, we were overleveled and ready for the elite four and champion. I made it through the first three elite four members okay, but Lucian's Medicham defeated Noctowl in one hit. I faced Cynthia with five Pokemon against her six, and I won!!! My Drapion strategy worked. I took out her Spiritomb, Gastrodon, AND Milotic using Drapion with a maxed Attack stat thanks to Fell Stinger. Garchomp took out her Lucario quickly with Earthquake. By this time I only had Milotic and Garchomp left, and she had Roserade and Garchomp left. Milotic managed to kill her Roserade with Ice Beam and tank a super effective Grass type move. Then I switched to Garchomp for her last Pokemon, Garchomp, and used Outrage. Since my Garchomp was level 72 and hers was 66, I outsped and OHKO'ed it for the win. 😎

I have to say that this was a fantastic way to finish and win the challenge. My original strategy was to use Reflect with Noctowl and slow down her Garchomp, but it seems that wasn't necessary. Drapion getting set up was key, so I'm glad it all worked out. Until next time. See ya!

Pokemon challenge complete and entered the Hall of Fame.

I’m doing a no healing in battle run of Pokémon Uranium. Basically that means I can’t use potions, but I can use moves like roost. It changes everything. I’m one of those people that spams potions a lot in battle, so this forces me to actually strategize a bit.

Recently I started getting back into 3DS games, and one of the games I've never beat a challenge on before is the sixth generation of Pokemon, Pokemon X/Y. Now, I don't think it's necessarily nigh impossible like generation five is, but I know I have attempted some runs before and ended up blacking out on each one.

I'm pretty confident with this run so far. I've managed to get a pretty good team set up, and have caught a first encounter in pretty much every route and area so far. I'm also going to keep the second starter that the professor gives you on my team and count it as my first encounter in Lumiose City, just because they're useful for making the challenge a bit easier.

Anyway, here's my Pokemon X Nuzlocke information as of now:

Trainer: Riley

Venti the Quilladin (M), Lv. 18
Ayato the Wartortle (M), Lv. 17
Hu Tao the Bunnelby (F), Lv. 15
Raiden the Gulpin (F), Lv. 11
Sucrose the Espurr (F), Lv. 11
Yae Miko the Flabebe (F), Lv. 7

In boxes:

Aether the Pidgeotto (M), Lv. 19
Bennett the Butterfree (M), Lv. 10
Zhongli the Farfetch'd (M), Lv. 7

Deaths: N/A

Gym badges: 1

I decided to go with the female trainer and name my Pokemon after Genshin Impact characters. I'm pretty happy with building my current team. Diggersby and Wartortle are going to be essential for the second gym, especially against Grant. Diggersby is about the only thing that will have a SE type advantage against his Tyrunt, and Wartortle can easily take care of his Amaura. Then at the third gym, Sucrose and Yae Miko will take the spotlight. The fourth gym will be more difficult due to the types of Pokemon I have, but Raiden should shine here. Hu Tao will also be good for the fifth gym, and Raiden will be good for the sixth gym. As it currently stands I have no real advantages against the 7th and 8th gyms, but those are far off and I can definitely get some other Pokemon on my team by then if need be. For now I'm just going to keep going and catching the first Pokemon in each area in an effort to build up my PC box. Next up, Cyllage City, site of the second Kalos gym badge! :D

Well, I ended up losing the last challenge around the third gym. I just recently started yet another Pokemon X Nuzlocke, however, and this one seems promising. I've had some good encounters/catches and I just beat the first gym.

Trainer: Riley

Gym badges: 1

Pokemon:

Naruto the Froakie (M), Lv. 11
Hawks the Pidgey (M), Lv. 13
Shinobu the Vivillon (F), Lv. 12
Luffy the Azurill (M), Lv. 13
Tamaki the Litleo (F), Lv. 14

Boxes: N/A

Deaths: N/A

I'll most likely be choosing Bulbasaur from the professor, that way I'll already have both a Grass, Fire, and Water type on my team. I'll post again when/if I earn my second gym badge. Until then!

I played a ton of Pokemon today and got my second, third, and fourth gym badges in my Pokemon X Nuzlocke. No deaths aside from a level 24 female Pancham that was used as a sacrificial pawn against Korrina's two Lucarios, lmao.

I played a good amount of Pokemon over the past couple days and got my fifth and sixth gym badges in my Pokemon X Nuzlocke from Clemont and Valerie. Shinobu ended up dying during training, but I quickly replaced her with Hawks, who evolved into a Pidgeot, and now my team is looking great! :D

Up next I'll be heading to the Pokeball Factory, and then Anistar City for my seventh gym badge.

I beat the Pokemon X Nuzlocke challenge!!!! :D

I was getting worried because my strongest mons' kept getting killed leading up to Diantha, but surprisingly I was able to take out her first five Pokemon pretty well, and Sylveon happened to be good against her Mega Gardevoir because of Shadow Ball (and its high Special Defense).

Pokemon Trainer: Riley

Deaths:

Mikasa the Pancham (F), Lv. 24

Naruto the Greninja (M), Lv. 65 (died to Siebold's Gyarados's Dragon Dance boosted Earthquake)
Todoroki the Beartic (M), Lv. 65 (died as a sacrifice during the champion battle with Diantha)

I also unintentionally made my trainer look like Sailor Moon, which @Holla might appreciate, lmao.

I have now beat some sort of challenge in both the first half of Gen 6, the second half, Gen 7, the first half of Gen 8, and the second half of Gen 8's games. I don't foresee myself doing another challenge anytime soon, but I'll probably do another one in the future in Scar/Vio. Until next time! :D
