Instead of using the giveaway prefix for holding, I think the cycling prefix would be more suitable. Would that not make better sense? :/

It does, but even when I was using the cycling prefix looking for holders, when I posted Julian was in boxes, I got bombarded with "OMG CAN I HAVE JULIAN?! HES A DREAMIE" I think a holding prefix would be extremely helpful, so people didn't have to let down these people.

This is true! Though I also think people should actually READ the OP before even posting in it. I have had so many people not get entered in my giveaways for not following the rules. It's not that hard to read a few quick rules.. Like come on! >.<

It's not hard, but people don't do it even if it's 1 rule that's 3 words long. :/
They get too excited.

Don't know if anyone's suggested this, but rather than a "holding" prefix, maybe a stickied thread for those types of requests like the Official Looking For/Buying thread? Would keep the board much cleaner. I don't want to wade through holding request threads (and surely there'd be more of them if they were endorsed with their own tag) when I'm trying to look for villagers.

Also not sure what to make of the "I'll buy you your dreamie" type giveaways considering these people, while certainly generous, don't actually have a villager to give away.

I like the idea of a sticky thread for 'hold-my-villager' requests.
