Villager Trading Plaza Feedback

As of the most recent Direct, we've added this rule:

When hosting an auction for your items or moving villagers, you must follow through with the sale unless you explicitly stated that the auction results are subject to be changed. Otherwise, the auction winner may give the host negative feedback for failing to complete the sale. The auction winner may also receive negative feedback if he or she fails to follow through with the purchase. Include as many rules with your auction as you feel fit, such as starting bid price, time limit, and bidding increments.

Nothing foolproof, but hopefully we can make better adjustments in the future.

There's always a lot going on around here, so admittedly there's a lot that goes under my radar. If you guys happen across a topic you think needs a bit of moderator intervention, then by all means hit that report button (it'd help us out a lot).

I think maybe if there were some hard guidelines about all auctions having to include a starting bid, increase amount, and end time, the community as a whole would understand better and be able to sort of police the auctions that are happening. I just keep seeing an alarming amount of auctions with limited information, NO information, and my personal least favorite: changing information. Many people are great, but there are just so many people here who don't know what they are doing and need some guidance.
I know there's a lot that goes down here that slips by the busy mods, but that's exactly why I think a stance should be taken to frown upon sloppy auctions.

Please remember to close

I do have a suggestion for those who start threads at Villager Trading Plaza: When the thread has concluded (whether a deal is made ? or ? it has failed), please close that thread.

By not closing the concluded thread, it leaves open the possibility that there will be any forum members who may mistakenly think such a given thread is possibly still open.

I Have Maple In My Town, If She Ever Moves You Can Have Her, She Only Recently Moved In, But If You Can Wait A While You Can Have Her :).

This place needs to stop making my posts merge! I can't get attention to my posts without bumping and my bumps keep getting merged with my first post -.-

You're not supposed to bump your posts so often anyways. Post merges happen if you post more than once in the same half hour, I think. The time might have increased.

I have a question that I tried searching in google and couldn't find an answer...
So I know if you meet the same villagers you have somewhere else they won't know you. And if you have one of your villagers move to another town they do remember you because they were yours. But say you have a villager in your town move out. Are you able to get that same villager (generally, not that exact one that moved from your town) in your town later?
For example, I have Lolly in my town and if she moves, can I get her again from someone else later down the road if she isn't my original Lolly? Or will there be some kind of coding that won't giver her the option to ask to move to my town...

Nope, it doesn't matter which Lolly you adopt :) .. So long as you've done your 16 cycle for her after she's moved out, you can adopt whichever Lolly you want, it doesn't need to be the exact one that moved out

Okay another question, my original Wolfgang was living happily in my town and i was dumb and let him get into boxes, and he moved to my cycling town. then he got cycled out of there and i miraculously found him in a friend's town and they got him into boxes for me, and when i went to get him (with my main town that he was orginally from) he wouldn't give me the option to let him move back in... can villagers not move back in to a town they've already been in? :c

just to be clear, he sin't another Wolfgang, he is the exact same one that was originally in my town.... does the 16 cycle still apply here even if he's the same one? :c

Yes. It applies to all Wolfgangs. It applies to all villagers, no matter where they came from; your original town, or another person's town.

Maybe there should be a 'Hold" a villager tag?
I see a lot of people asking if they can hold their villagers

Something I've noticed a lot lately is that lots of people seem to post "Auctions" without really knowing what they are. I've seen so many posts with the "Auction" tag in which the poster doesn't specify a starting bid, bid increments, or an end time. That's basically a "Selling" thread, lol.

I wholeheartedly second this a million times over - it needs to be dealt with.

NOTHING is more annoying than seeing a thread mislabeled as an Auction or a Giveaway and the thread title: "PLIS HOLD MY VILGAGER!!!!!!!!!! :,(" Despite my NUMEROUS issues with such threads even existing, they are absurdly too common, and while I wish we could relegate them to another board (or ban them altogether), a tag at least would be dandy.

I actually made a thread explaining the different types of thread things and such. I'm still working out a few things, though. Some things may be kinda biased to some people, so I'm still considering on switching the villager/buyer things.

All together, I think the VTP is great as it is. Any more tags and I have a strange feeling that the VTP will be flooded.
I could even see the hold tag getting out of hand.

someone plz teach people what an auction is

I feel like the description of an auction in the sticky isn't clear enough for people who just really have no idea that there's even a difference between an auction and a [selling] thread.

A auction is where people bid! Example:

Auction: Molly

min bid: 1 mil
min increment: 500k
buyout 20 mil

First you need a min bid and a min increment but buyout is optinal! People bid in a auction but selling is 1 person who is willing to pay the price not like:

Selling:Molly

Offer please! Min bid: 1 mil min increment: 700k

selling should be like:
Selling: Molly

10 mil bells

Not a auction! First person who wants to pay for Molly wins! No bidding!

and trading is trading for a villager not like this:

[Trading] 2 mil for Margie

that is called a Looking for/Buying Thread!

For the record, I know what an auction is; I was suggesting/giving feedback that they make that more clear to OTHERS--perhaps in the "Guidelines" sticky.

:3 Hia there!
