Um... so, I got that black screen upon waking my 3DS from sleep mode today. No biggie - not the first time.

Messing around, I found that removing the game cartridge would fix the problem. Now, the issue was with More Brain Training, but it seems to be running happily at the moment.

At the moment, inserting Animal Crossing Wild World does nothing, and half-inserting it freezes the system. Buuut... if there's no SD card it runs fine. I have no idea what is going on here.

:(

EDIT 1: Huh. Exiting a house on Wild World freezes the game, but not the system.

EDIT 2: Oh yeah, and just move this if this thread is in the wrong section. Didn't want to put it in the Gamers' Lounge but it seems like the only other suitable place. It's not to do with Animal Crossing as such.

EDIT 3: Running the latest firmware, V. 11.0.0-33E. Unless there's been a hidden update, nothing has changed there recently.

EDIT 4: Perhaps the Nintendo Treehouse would be an alright board for this to have been moved to. Oh well, we'll see where it lands up.

EDIT 5: And there we go, the thread's in the Nintendo Treehouse. Anyway, my 3DS seems to be happy today, though Wild World is still having contact issues.

EDIT 6: ...and continuing to freeze the system.

I've had that issue a few times, usually something's goofed up the internal sensor. So it think's its closed when it's not. Went away by keeping it in warm areas and away from other 3DSes.

Hmm... I'll see how it is today, though don't see why it should be inconsistent and messed up by Wild World. May try running the battery completely down, though it's not to do with it thinking the lid is closed since it still turns on the screen backlight, speakers etc.

It's not been exposed to any unusual temperatures as such, though it's possible it's taken a bash that did something. :/

My original 3DS does this when I go to use it. As soon as I open my original 3DS up, it plays the menu music, but the screen is black for about 3-4 seconds. I feel my issue is more because the pins inside my original 3DS's Game Card slot are bent and unable to read physical games anymore unless you press hardly onto the cartridge.

Hmm... do you think my 3DS could have a bent pin or two? At the moment it's happy with everything except Wild World though, even with added pressure. :/

Probably my Wild World cartridge somehow failed in the middle of the night just sitting on a table but I'm not sure how that would happen or why my 3DS was acting strangely before with any cartridge.

Alright, it's magically fixed itself today.

Well, that was fun.

No way to close this thread and I can't be bothered pestering a moderator so... meh.
