What are you reading?

started 'to be taught, if fortunate' by becky chambers for book club and i am excited. favorite genre and already a fun approach

I started to read a book on the impeachment process to try to understand it better. Boring, but informational.

I was inspired by an archive from BBC's Bookclub podcast to give Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped a read. I remember reading it as a child, but I haven't read it since then.

song of achilles a la recommendation of @/Aquilla :3c all i know is i'll cry and im excited.
once i'm finished with this, im moving on to reading red, white, and royal blue. heard lots of good things, then i'll watch the movie after.

Reading along to an audiobook of Treasure Island for the first time in many years. I have a bit of a history with this book, which I won't get into here, but to make a long story short, it's nice to be able to enjoy this novel without associating it with the childhood drama previously attached to it.

Currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to get fanfic inspiration.

I forgot how amazing the books actually are, I've just been reading fanfiction for the majority of the time.

I'm currently working my way through the Sherlock Holmes chronology. I've just finished A Study in Scarlet and am now about a quarter through The Sign of the Four.

I must say, I knew beforehand that Sherlock Holmes had a drug addiction from prior pop culture knowledge. But I didn't expect the second book to immediately open like, "One fine day in London, Sherlock Holmes was doing cocaine." The casual manner that this is exposited gave me immense whiplash.

So, so thankful that I am a librarian-- I have near constant access to tons of books! Right now I'm reading Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle. I am also currently reading a book for one of my grad courses titled Indexing and Abstracting in Theory and Practice. Though I'm in my early twenties, I still mostly read YA fiction, so I'm stepping out of my comfort zone!

Currently reading a book called Scythe by Neal Shusterman.
It's my second time reading it, and honestly I love it to death. Reading it again because I finally got my hands on the second book (three books in total, I think), and wanna remind myself what happens.

Really recommend reading~!

Currently re-reading The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling). I received the newest book, The Ink Black Heart, for my birthday, and I thought I may as well re-read the series. My goal is to finish all 6 before the 7th one, The Running Grave, releases in October.
I, in fact, did not finish all six. I misplaced The Cuckoo's Calling and I don't know where tf The Silkworm went, so I kinda gave up on that (but I'm still going to add The Running Grave to my wishlist anyway).

So, instead of the Strike novels, I've started reading the Hunger Games series! After I'm done with that, I might try out the Percy Jackson series. I've been reading way too much fanfiction recently, so I thought it was about time that I read some actual books for a change.

Edit: I have located The Silkworm, Cuckoo's Calling is nowhere to be found, but I remember how it ends, so the Strike novel marathon might be happening after all... after I'm finished with The Hunger Games, though, since I am physically unable to read two books/series at once. After the Strike books are done, it's PERCY JACKSON TIME!

I’m reading a book about reading books. Lol. And I have two other books about reading books on my wishlist. 😝 (I’m currently juggling reading books on education.)

… but I also started reading Bunny by Mona Awad with my brother. Haha. We’re only a few chapters in, but it’s pretty funny so far. It has some obvious similarities with Mean Girls going on.

i really enjoyed Bunny, but fair warning it gets weird quick haha

i'm currently making my way though "things remembered and things forgot" - it's really beautiful and charming and the short story format suits my life right now since i can't make a lot of time to read

I'm reading The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix. It's a horror novel based on the concept of the "final girl" common in horror movies, the one that survives, it's a group of women in a support group that have each survived their own real life horror movie-esque murder attempts/massacres. There's a lot of nods to the classics such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream, etc throughout. It's a really cool concept for a book and I'm enjoying it. The plot is that someone starts killing off each of the final girls from the support group, and one character trying to figure out who is doing it and trying to survive

Perfect for the Halloween season

Books I've read recently (with ratings):

  • A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (3/5)
  • Iron Flame (4/5)
  • Fourth Wing (3/5)
  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (4/5)
  • Project Hail Mary (4.5/5)
  • The Woman in Me (4.5/5)
  • A Court of Silver Flames (5/5)
  • Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow (4/5)
  • A Court of Frost and Starlight (3/5)
  • Everything I Know About Love (2/5)
  • A Little Life (4.5/5)

aaaaand what I'm reading currently:

Red Rising (about halfway through and enjoying it so far! quite hunger games-esque)

I have been so hyper fixated on books lately and I have read all of these since the middle of October 🤪 I have so many I still want to finish by the end of the year!!

Knife of Dreams, book #11 of the Wheel of Time series. Started it a couple days ago, I just finished chapter 1(there was a VERY long prologue before it). This was the last book the author wrote before he died...Sanderson took over on book #12 though I heard he ended the series beautifully!

Hidden Figures. I already had to watch the movie twice for two different assignments in school.
