Besides, wasn't it like last year that we got a Direct in September and then didn't see another until February. We shouldn't expect any general Directs any time soon, going by that. January could happen maybe.

Directs do happen in early-mid November, but they're never guaranteed.Someone just looked at the dates in that past, chose one close to it for the current year, and created a rumor based on that. It's stupidly easy to do.

I just looked it up, and the last general Nintendo Direct we got in a November was in 2015. Since then, there has been no general Nintendo Direct between September and January/February.

It doesn't mean that Nintendo won't change that up, but I think after four years it's pretty much a pattern now. I've become accustomed at this point to expect a dry period of info during this time.
