What is the meaning behind your island name?

Evershine doesn't have a specific meaning, I just wanted a light-themed name that looks and feels right. I randomly came up with it a few days before release and after failing to find one I liked for weeks (the only one I did like, Corona Bay, was out for obvious reasons)

Wackiki is an island based off from the Bugs Bunny episode made in 1943 called "Wackiki Wabbit". It's a comedic episode where two castaways become stranded on an island and they chase after Bugs Bunny in an attempt to cook him to survive on the island. I love to watch the Looney Tunes shows even when I was a kid, so I decided that Wackiki would be the perfect name for a Bugs Bunny episode that made me smile and laugh so much.

My current island name is Epsilon. I like space and space themed names. Just find them cool. Otherwise, no "real" meaning other than I just like it. Haha

My island's name is Bisovia, I basically made it as if it was a country named after bisexuality lol

i had three, but i had to delete one as i only have two systems lol

first is sleeptime, which i made launch day. it comes from the fact i like to sleep a lot lol

second was raindrop, which is now gone. it was named after my first stardew valley farm. i just like the sound of the rain

and now there is andromeda. i want a space themed island and i love the name andromeda, i also have a canine oc named that

Agasha for me. Apparently, it means 'good' or 'beauty' in ancient greek but I choose it for other reasons (actually, I just looked for the definition for this thread); but Agasha is a young girl in Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas, a very minor character but whatever, I loved her name and found it more original than just 'Sanctuary'!

Every since the original animal crossing for the Gamecube, I named my island after trees. In New Horizons, I named my island "Hackberry." Not a super interesting story, but there it is! Haha.

I named my island Avalar after the world of Spyro 2. I also named my town in New Leaf Avalar, kind of wish I named my island "New Avalar" or something like that, but it's too late now.

My island name is Sanditon, after a fictional resort town from a British TV drama of the same name as well as the unfinished book by Jane Austen. I'm not sure if there's a meaning of it, but I love it. :D

i named my island palmalak! when i first played animal crossing wild world, i wanted to name my village “palm lake”, but it wouldn’t fit. i condensed the name and called it “palmalak” and i have been going with that island name ever since! haha

My island is called Lemongrass, and I was set on that name several months before release haha. I actually chose it on the day of the Animal Crossing direct when the 10-character limit was indirectly confirmed. Lemons are kind of my “thing” and I love the aesthetic of the word “lemongrass,” so my idea just stuck. :p It fits the semi-cottagecore, semi-regal island theme I’m going for!

My islands name is Goosfraba, like the mantra Jack Nicholson tells Adam Sandler to repeat in Anger Management. Kinda an inside joke between me and my fiance. The kids think it sounds exotic and I like to make people laugh. ;)

My island is Fireleaf, which was the same as my most recent New Leaf town. About 2 years ago I was waiting at a bus stop in the middle of winter. As I stood there freezing, I had the idea of filling a New Leaf town with torches and bonfires. It still seemed like a good idea when I was back home, so I made a new town and called it Fireleaf. I ended up abandoning that town but still liked the name, so I gave it to my island.

Mine is named Nara, after the city of deer in Japan since I originally planned on having an all-deer island
