What is the meaning behind your island name?

My island is Halcyon, which means a time that was happy and peaceful. It fit what I wanted my island to feel like but is also a homage to my NL town!

Melemele, after the Pokemon island, and because I wanted that tropical island life!

I wanted something Maori so I looked up the different words for cloud and Okewa sounded the most island-y

My island’s name is named after Skyhold in Dragon Age Inquisition. According to Dragonage.fandom.com, “Known as Tarasyl'an Te'las ("the place where the sky is kept" or, more specifically, "the place where the sky was held back") in ancient elvish.”

windfall, and not much behind it tbh. wanted something somewhat botw-ish and it turns out it's the name of a location in wind waker. my island looks nothing like that but hey, i think it sounds nice at least. picked it when i wanted to do a cottagecore/natural island and now i switched to more of a fancier/city/royal type vibe but it works well enough lol.

I named my new one 'Portofino' because I'm currently obsessed with retro/60s-80s Italian aesthetic and I plan to theme it after that once I finally get around to playing more consistently. :,) I wanted REALLY badly to name it "Porto del Sole" (Port of the Sun) but it was too long :(.

Mines called Wildshore. My first ac game was Wild World so I wanted a name that sort of incorporated my love for that game whilst also still having an islandy feel.

Magicant, taken straight outta a location in Earthbound (Mother 2, and also a location in Mother 1)

A few months before acnh was realeased I completed my first ever playthrough of Earthbound on New Nintendo 3DS XL Virtual Console. The game left a huge impression on me, with its zany world, funny characters and imaginative yet interesting story.

Magicant in particular stood out to me, both its name and setting. It's a place in your mind made up of all the different aspects of your life, the things that you remember/forgot but still are a part of you. In Earthbound Beginnings (Mother 1) Magicant is a realm of pink clouds, having taken shape and life within the subconsciousness of a queen. Similar idea to the island of Koholint from LoZ Link's Awakening (funnily enough I named my town in New Leaf after it)

In acnh, Magicant is whatever I want it to be. Just a bunch of themes/aesthetics I like in one. That's mainly why I chose the name. It's not like I dedicated my island to be Earthbound themed just because of the name! ☺ Most people may be surprised to come visit my island yet find nothing Mother 1+2 related. I just really like the name ^^

My island is called Schellwood which includes mine and my partners last name. I wanted something that used our last name and would represent both of us!

Mine is named Woodland. It's... not as fancy as most other names here, lol, but I like it. I wanted a simple name that would fit any theme, should I choose to do a theme. Also, when I think "woodland" I think "woodland animals", so that fits. And I knew wood would be an important resource in crafting, AND I knew I would want a big forest. I'm also not the type to want to name my island after something from another game (which seems to be a hugely popular idea, lol) because I kind of like to keep games "separate", if that makes sense (like, if I wanna play Pokemon, I'll play it... but when I'm playing ACNH I wanna be fully focused on Animal Crossing).

I decided on "Woodland" awhile before the game came out and, so far, I have no regrets! Which, at over a year in, is pretty much a miracle for me, lol

i’ve had many islands before but my current one’s name is yoshi because i thought it was cute. yoshi is also one of my favorite mario characters and was my main on mario kart Wii

While mine isn't 100% original, I named my island Utopia, because I attend to make it my and my villagers' piece of ideal paradise. A place of happiness and perfection. A slice of heaven. Utopia.
When I first played new leaf u named it mineton so every game a play I use the mine prefix (yes Minecraft reference) so for acnh I named mineland mine + island.

They both mean something in Italian, that relate to their theme, and lore

I'm learning Italian, so I came up with this. Just add a little mystery

Mine is Elderidge, which is just a name I like a lot lol
it means sage ruler, tho

I named mine Coleoptrea, which is a play on Coleoptera (scientific order for beetles) although I really hate how it sounds now. If I could rename my island I think I would just call it Coleop

Unless I decide to restart again. My island is Shin Jidai which means New Era in Japanese. I was suffering from burnout and heated a name with a new start feeling and I used the online Japan dictionary and that popped into my head. As well as being the name of the first opening for Yashahime.

I really like the new name and because of that my island feels so much better than my others.

My islands are called Vylbrand and Swanstone.

I had intended to make my island a pirate's cove. In Final Fantasy XIV, Vylbrand is the name of an island that hosts the city-state of Limsa Lominsa - which was founded by shipwrecked pirates. Even though I didn't go with the pirate cove idea after all the name still fits the overall vibe.

Swanstone is named for Neuschwanstein Castle. I wanted my second island to feel more clean and regal to contrast Vylbrand. I had wanted to use Schwanstein as the name but it was too long, so I used the shorter English translation.

For my island reps, I use my nickname on Vylbrand but my full name on Swanstone, again to lend into the contrast of one being more grunge and the other being more polished.

My island is called Melursus. My second town in NL was called Melursus as well. I got the name from the Sloth Bear - scientific name melursus ursinus! I just liked the way it sounded
