What is the meaning behind your island name?

I've always been a fan of the Jurassic World/Jurassic Park franchise. And in this franchise, the islands all start with the word "Isla" meaning island (in Spanish the word means island).

I'm also a night owl, I feel most happy and comfortable at night, as soon as the sun sets. I loved the Sailor Moon manga/anime as a preteen and as a teenager I enjoyed reading the House of Night novels. Both of these franchises had me fascinated over their use of the crescent moon 🌙

So I named my island "Isla Luna" or Moon Island in Spanish. It's a Mashup of good memories, so the name just seemed fitting ♡

I love island names that start "Isla". Is your username also intended to be a HoN reference?

Oh yeah! 😅 I had to double check what my username on here is, but yes!

I loved the religion/spirituality of Nyx in the HoN novels. I found it very interesting, along with the consorts and affinities. The beliefs and stories told about Nyx and how things worked in that series were brilliantly written.

Though, I was a teenager when I last read the entire series so im not sure how well that last statement holds up if I were to reread them. 😅

Oops! Sorry for rambling on!🙈

Mistfall. I wanted something sort of original (though I did find someone else who had the same island name) and something simple without over thinking it. I also wanted something island like rather than a town. I thought of stuff I wanted on the island and the thing I wanted most was multiple waterfalls. Thought of terms other than just "Waterfall" and thought about how some waterfalls seems to have mist falling or surrounding it. Then came Mistfall.

I have 2 islands right now and I'll explain the names:

(New Island) Destiny: Named after the world "Destiny Islands" from Kingdom Hearts 1 that was destroyed by the darkness. I like think of it as like my own personal island where I can express what my interests are with no limitations.

(2nd Island) Twilight: Named after of the world "Twilight Town" from Kingdom Hearts 2. I figured that it would be sequel to my now deleted island "Traverse" so its a reminder of all the old stuff I carried over from that island to this island. With it being set in the South Hemisphere unlike Destiny that its in the North, I can always visit that island whenever I am feeling too bored of being on one island.

Mine is named after my blog on Tumblr called Evermore-Fashion (minus the fashion part) and I've always loved the ethereal vibes associated with the word evermore... before Taylor Swift made it more trendy. 🙄😂

My newest island name, Hurawalhi, is named after a resort in the Maldives. This island is going to be a tropical atoll, and I adore the more tropical-sounding names, so after doing some research on different types of resorts, I found the name and it stuck.

In New leaf I named my town Kiwi. There was no big reason other then I liked the sound of it and I do like kiwis. I am not the best at naming things so when it was time to name our islands in New Horizons. I ended up using Kiwi Isle because I still liked it and as a homage to my past town.

I had many islands 1 was called anime land because anime is my comfort place when I was in my depression state and another one was called ryuk, ryuk is from death note one of my fav animes and my current one is called sprinkle because I love sprinkles on cakes cupcakes and reminds me of magic

Mine is Ragnar-ö-k

”Ö” in swedish means island so i thought it would be perfect for my island.
i just like the idea of an island already being doomed by its name

I was completely vapor-locked when I went to name my island. It was the oddest thing. I chose DragonLand since, well, DragonAce but after too much thought realized I should have named it Passione, but also wasn't sure if passion was allowed.

It's the same name as my New Leaf town name. Also Lobelia is significant because I got the name from one of my favorite anime, Ouran High School Host Club

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about my island name. My island is called MilkyWay. I really wanted to choose a name that would be dreamy and meaningful. I ended up very happy with it.
it was also the first time that I’ve used this new nickname, Lyrica. It really is a part of who I am right now and it meant a lot a to me.

Vesperia's name is based on the Latin word for evening and the other island is Tristesse, which means sadness.

My island is called Twinleaf! I named it after the starting town of my frist Pokemon game (Diamond). I wanted my island to be filled with childhood nostalgia and nothing is more nostalgic to me than my old Pokemon games :)

My island’s name is El Mirador, I named it after a park I used to go to when I was a kid. :)
