What was the biggest scandal at your high school?

I remember at least one scandal at my high school way back when:

This scandal involved a nerdy photography student who was assigned to take photos of the cheerleaders and pompom girls(do they still call them that?)during the school Christmas pep rally thingy. The cheerleaders and pompom girls made special holiday uniforms just for that event and some of the new outfits didn't uh.......fit all that well. After developing the photos from the Christmas pep rally thingy, the nerdy photography student noticed something about the uniform of a cheerleader he photographed. Her new-for Christmas,ill-fitting cheerleader outfit left a certain part of her anatomy exposed. But instead of destroying the negative, the nerdy photography student started showing off the developed photograph and if I remember correctly, even sold a few of the prints. He was caught,of course and booted out of his photography class but I don't remember what other punishment he received.

One of the kids in my grade got a metal pipe and hit another kid in the head with it. It was shocking cuz I knew him from years ago from church.. you never know who would turn out to be so violent as to nearly kill someone like that.. the other kid ended up being okay in the end but damn..

someone deliberately stole chemicals from the lab and started a chemical fire in the boys bathroom. our security guard went in there to put it out and people were just filming and laughing at him. he ended up going to the hospital and the school was obviously evacuated while the fire department came. the fire got pretty big and a lot of people felt bad afterwards and started a gofundme to get him new shoes.

also, my freshman year (2015) some girl who was "Miss Texas" something-something who was the cheer captain at our school was on the news and stripped of her title for making new cheerleaders suck her toes as "initiation".

oh,, i haven't finished highschool yet + im homeschooled so nothing really happens to me. all this stuff sounds terrible tho ;-;

Geez, I had my own problems during high school, but nothing that amounts to any of these crazy stories.

my maths teacher was fired for being transphobic to one student and would apparently instill his discriminatory beliefs onto others in classes and clubs, mainly the christian club, a complaint was sent in and he was suspended. he actually mightve not been sacked if he didnt go on a morning show to talk about the situation, that went viral, it was a pretty huge scandal at the time. he tried to paint it like he accidentally misgendered this individual but with what ive heard from others he treated him like **** for months on end and "didnt believe in transgenderism" somehow he got hired at another school after all this..and then fired again for telling people that muhammed was a false prophet on his youtube channel under his name lol. he was always unpleasant to work with and kind of a nutjob but i never thought he would end up like this

Not much that I can think of. A few events stood out like a few people getting pregnant, someone pulling the fire alarm which led to police coming to campus and said student getting suspended, etc., but in my final year of high school during the opening assembly, the principal got upset because everyone was being too loud and she gave everyone a lecture and threatened to cancel a bunch of school events. Someone recorded it and a bunch of random news websites across the country made articles about it and the principal was put on leave indefinitely after that (I think for something unrelated but I'm not sure, I couldn't care less at this point in my life).

I dunno, but we had some right-wing party spreading their **** once and it got on local news, my classmate filmed it too.

it's not big but one time, there was a shooting threat at my school. apparently, there was graffiti that said like "november 14th will be remembered" with a gun drawn next to it, or something cheesy like that in the washroom.

when i went to school that day, (there was a school trip to see a musical i really wanted to see and we were able to go shopping later.. you can really tell my priorities were in check 😃👍) it was nearly empty. some police were on watch around the school. two days later, we had an assembly where the teachers basically just clowned on everyone who didn't go to school that day. as it turns out, it was all a big hoax or something taken outta context. a girl in my music class told me that november 14th was gonna be remembered.. cuz the dude who wrote it was moving away, therefore, he wanted to remember it. idk why there was a gun beside it, but it was pretty crazy.

Lol which one? My Catholic school is no stranger to scandal. I’ll share the worst one.

Senior classes past 2017 are not allowed to have senior quotes because someone quoted a racist historical figure (who I will not name because I’m not trying to give away my location and there are many articles about it) and the yearbook staff and teacher that year somehow let it slide. It made national news. All my school’s administrators did about it was send out little stickers to cover up the offensive quote. The teacher was not fired, but she retired the year after it happened. To save face, my school has donated and lent the auditorium to the local Minority Federation once a year ever since.

I don’t see how punishing all senior classes after 2017 is a good idea, but that sounds about right for my school. I can’t wait to graduate.

- There was this one fight between two girls at my school that ended up with one girl slamming another girl's head into a mirror, which broke. This was all over a dude.

- There was also another fight that happened literally right next to me while me and my friends were eating lunch. Ended with one kid getting his shirt ripped off and people were clapping and yelling "GIBBY!!!"

- There were several bomb threats happening at my school because some students were writing bomb threats on the stalls of the bathroom. they got caught though and were doing it just so we could get out of school.

- Someone in my school actually got suspended for getting an additional chicken nugget and it actually kinda caught on with the media. You could probably find articles on it on Google.

- Apparently some people who were also in my grade also had STDs from doing....stuff....after prom night.

- The principal that was at my school at the time also got caught having an affair with the vice principal, so his wife left him.

And all of these are nothing compared to the worst one I held up for last.

During my 4 years of high school, there were around 7-8 suicides at my school. I know that one of the first students who passed away did write a suicide note to one of the English teachers but instead, the teacher sent the letter back with a note criticizing his proofreading and his grammar. Also, when parents of the victims wanted to add a brick for their child in the school memorial garden (yes, we have one), the principal denied it, saying that it would romanticize suicide and such. In turn, the parents ended up pulling a lawsuit against the school and the school district for not doing anything for the mental health of students as well as not allowing them to place a brick in the garden in their memory. The school lost the lawsuit so the ended up firing the principal and getting a new one, which was much better imo. Either way, I've never seen anything so ugly. It got so bad that even people from other schools were getting really concerned.

Pretty happy that I got out of there imo.

I'm genuinely not too sure. I didn't have many friends at all during high school and I would never really socialize with anyone...

I do remember some POS beating up some kid who was considered the "weird kid" and it drew a massive crowd. Most people seemed pretty sad but didn't step in, the POS being the bully was a known gang banger at the time.

there was a shooting threat at the beginning of my sophomore year, i was absent but i don’t think anything happened

but something bigger was when it was revealed that a cross country coach was having inappropriate relations with a student .. his daughter was on the cross country team too :( i don’t know if the student he was having inappropriate relations was on the cc team too, but i remember my friend who was also on the team felt bad for his daughter. i was on the cc team for a few months freshman year and tbh he always gave me weird vibes 😳

I was homeschooled so there weren't really any scandals at my school (I was a v boring teenager)

We had two teachers who were seeing each other in a certain extracurricular fashion... both of which were, as a result, taking part in an affair. Needless to say the school board didn't think too highly of this and they were both fired from the political fallout that ensued. One of the teacher's significant others (who was the victim of said affair) was a faculty member at the school. Definitely an ugly situation. The only reason this was such a serious issue that involved them getting terminated is they were using the school email system to discuss these things. It more or less gave the school board free reign to just wash their hands of the both of them.
