I've been thinking about my villagers and I don't think I'm going to have all dreamies. I still have a handful of favorites but I want to experience new villagers.

I'm just going to take my time. I'm planning on playing this game for a while, so I don't need to rush through and complete everything as soon as I can. I'm just going to progress as fast as I do playing the game as least stressfully as possible. I'm also planning on keeping a bullet journal to keep teack of all the progress I'm making.
I'm going to go at it slowly. I'm not going to rush into completing projects. For example, after the Welcome amiibo update, I just scanned the cards of the villagers I wanted in. It took me a few weeks, but I did. And once I had the ones I wanted, the game became dull - oh so dull - I stopped playing it.

Not get tired of playing after 3 months and make a beautiful town.

actually, there's a lot i want to do differently!
-no time traveling
-don't reset your town/island all the time (i probably won't now, i just got bored of new leaf after a few years and had a resetting problem)
-test out the stalk market! (turnips)
-try and get most items by myself (unless it's like dlc in certain regions)
-finish the museum, along with encyclopedia (or critter-pedia i should say)
i feel as if these are some pretty realistic goals for me, and i can't wait to start playing new horizons!

I'll probably try to landscape a bit more. I did in New Leaf, with paths and bamboo/bushes, but it was kind of haphazardly done. I also grew a bunch of hybrids, but they were sort of all over the place. I'd like there to be more colour cohesion this time around, maybe? I am going to try really hard to utilise the terraforming.

I had a bunch that moved in naturally (Marshall, Ankha, Bunnie, Rosie, Merengue, Kid Cat, etc) and as much as I love them, I'm not the type to purchase Amiibo cards to force specific villagers into my town. It's quite exciting to leave it up to chance, and honestly, I found a lot of my favourites this way.

This time I won't accidentally erase my 900hr town by stupidly trying to combine two memory cards onto one larger card lol
Other than that, not too much different. I took everything at a nice gentle pace, only time traveled backwards (if i missed a day, or couldn't play until evenings on a festival day, etc), and only used the amiibo cards for Happy Home Designer.

everyone's pretty much already said what i wanted to but:
1. no time traveling
2. take things slower in general, i dont want to try and "finish" everything so soon
3. ACTUALLY finish the museum, as i've never done it in any of the previous ac games
4. put a lot more effort in decorating my island and house.. i've done it in previous games but i've always been super laidback about it. the fact that we can put furniture outside makes me really put in a lot more effort.

My goal is to have a really good plan from the beginning, and focus my island on being a bit "cuter"--I love my New leaf town but there's not really a consistent theme! I'll also be focusing more on dreamies and matching a town aesthetic since I was pretty lax about that in New Leaf. (Though I do love all my villagers.) As in my past games, I'll also be working to complete the entire museum and critterpedia again! Basically, to be a lot more organised and with a clearer vision for my island~

I've always liked the slower pace of the games, and while it can be frustrating to have limits on what you can buy in the early days, it makes for a more satisfying experience to get them in the normal scheme of things, IMO.
There are a small handful of villagers that I simply do not like, and if they move in, I will do my best to make them temporary, but I don't have a certain group that I only want to draw from. There are so many I haven't met, it would be wrong to exclude them before we have the chance to see if they fit.
I want a definite plan for my landscaping and house design. It'll probably take me quite some time to figure out just where I want things to go and how I want it to look. I don't want to have to redo areas multiple times because things changed. Yes, there will always be tweaks, but the basic core things are going down once. That being said, it'll probably wait until I have the terraforming abilities.

I'm also going to try my best not to change my character's appearance so much and just find one I like and stick to that. One last thing I'm going to try to do is hoard everything and maybe possibly sell the stuff I hoard to others who need the items more than me. I love helping others out, so if there is an item a person needs on here, I'm more than happy to help them out. ^o^
Like many others, I'm not gonna time travel excessively or reset. I'll probably still time travel within the day if absolutely necessary, like if I miss something. I'm also not going to actively look for villagers other than inviting one or two from my amiibo collection.
I'm seeing a lot of people talk about how they don't want to time travel and I really want to do the same for my island. I will have a lot to do outside of ACNH considering I'm in college so it may not be a bad thing anyway. It just seems like it'll be hard to do because I'm so used to time travelling. I do it a lot less now, but still. I want things to happen naturally but I also don't want to run out of things to do. I don't know

I want to do as much as I can on my own before resorting to asking other people for help getting what I need/want.

i don't know what i will do differently, i am planning on doing most things myself and playing "organically" or whatever, which is what i did when i first started playing new leaf as well.
I don't really remember starting New Leaf, but I have a feeling I didn't reset at all.
This time I'm probably going to do some resetting - not for my nap, but maybe for my airport colour (I'd be happy with teal, blue or yellow) and definitely for my starting villagers. There aren't baby Jock characters I like and I'm not keen on most of the tall villager species! I like the little cubs and squirrels and other small animals!
