I'm just curious! Everyone I've known in real life time travels, but on here it seems most people don't? If anything, I've seen more people who seem to think it totally ruins their enjoyment of the game, which I guess I don't get  And, while I haven't seen it on this website yet, I've also seen some people who get, like REALLY offended by the idea. As if me time-traveling somehow affects their game, or as if they want an award for playing more "ethically" 😆 (to clarify, I have nothing against non-time travelers- I just don't like people who judge how I play MY game) I mean, it's "cheating" in the sense that it's not technically how the game is supposed to be played, but it really doesn't give you much of an advantage- yes, you may end up with more items and a nicer house than other players. But how does that effect them? It doesn't.

Frankly, time travelling has always been a big part of my enjoyment of every single Animal Crossing game! While I don't time travel to holidays anymore- partly because I didn't like being "away" from my town for so long, partly because I can't (I'm still annoyed that they didn't just put the holidays in, feels like they gave into the holier than thous who hate time traveling 😒), but I still play through a few in-game days per day. Even with having more to do in ACNH, I still would get bored if I just stuck to the same day. Plus, sometimes I want to hunt night-time bugs or fish during the day, or day critters during the night. Or I want to be able to sell things to the store, but can't because it's too late.

So, yeah. Basically my questions are- who else time travels? Why (I don't need reasons you don't time travel, I feel like that's all I see 😛) Has anyone ever judged you for time travelling? Etc, etc...

Also, just to note, in case anyone takes this the wrong way- I'm in no way trying to start some sort of heated, nasty debate about time travelling. I'm just wanting to chat with people who enjoy a part of the game I enjoy as well, since I feel like I don't see a lot of other users on here who do (maybe they're all just hiding 😝)

If you're a time traveler, cool. If you're not, also cool. Play the game however you want to play, THAT'S the only "right" way to play Animal Crossing games 😉

I TT like 9383737732 times a day. Mainly cycling lots of villagers and changing things on my island. I’ve been real stumped with needing 2 inclines but having 1 to work with (I keep changing its location) and TTing to see if it’ll be ideal for what I want. I don’t mind it, don’t mind people who prefer not to, don’t mind if people hate the idea.

I've said this before but I've time travelled since I played the gamecube game as a kid so it's just normal to me. I'm okay with being a lil cheater.

Same! And, like I said, I just don't really see it as cheating since... it really doesn't HURT anyone.

Like, exploiting a glitch to beat someone in a Mario Kart race, or in an MMO, or something? Not cool, 'cause you're kind of taking something from someone else, in the process. But each Animal Crossing game is unique, and nothing I do in mine affects really affects anyone else's 😛

Yah, I'm remodeling a lot of my island now (getting close to the end, though!) and I can't IMAGINE doing it without time travelling 😯
And I don't mind people who hate the idea, I just don't like when people get all "holier than thou" about it. But I hate when people get that way about ANYTHING 😆
I also feel bad for, and don't really understand, the people I've seen on here who really beat themselves up about it. There's just... no reason to, you know? If you don't wanna do it anymore, than stop! But you haven't committed some grave sin by doing it, either.

(and I feel you on the inclines... just ONE MORE and I'd be set. BUT I've run out of inclines to place, I guess 😒)

I do some time traveling - mainly if I'm trying to move in a villager, or when Redd visits. Once I realized how infrequent Redd's visits were, I decided I wanted to work on my art gallery with TT. I don't see a problem either way, play however makes you happy :)

I do it! I did a little for the original AC, a little bit for WW, and some for NL. But I've been doing it a lot with NH but I really enjoy doing it. I have more completed and I like the change of pace.

I time travel a bunch on Eureka. I don’t want to have to wait two days for a museum to open up. I want to get to the cool stuff where I make robots and build silos!
Nobody here has bashed me for time traveling (although I don’t think I told them) but I know that it happens. I don’t really mind if anyone hates TTing or not, as long as they’re kind and respectful and stuff. You bought the game, play it how you want.

I’ve always time traveled ever since GameCube ac.
I’m a pretty impatient person in general and the way I game is all at once or not at all. It’s my way of enjoying the game I bought :p

I don't time travel. I think I ruined my experience in New Leaf by time travelling and messing with villagers and trying to get dreamies. I enjoy waiting until things are completed the next day, and I have other things I can work on whilst im waiting.

It's hard to resist TT'ing though!!

It's late and that opening sentence was way more exciting to my increasingly sleepy mind than it should ever have been.

Anyway, I don't personally touch the clock on my game, or rather, I haven't yet. Partially because I like to take it slow in order to not burn out on the game, and also because I usually don't fail to find stuff to do while I'm stuck on the same day. (If I let myself time travel, I bet I'd never get around to things like managing the wild spread of flowers...)

At the same time, I don't discourage others from doing it. If I want to trade with someone and they go "Let me get this villager in boxes for you" or "Let me order this real quick" I won't ever say no and will gladly profit off of that. Double standards? Maybe. 😂

I think in general more people on here are taking the no-time-travel approach because this is where all the people who care a lot about the game gather, and they are likely to have some quirks to their playstyle.

I'm not going to get into whether it is right or wrong because we have had that discussion too many times to count. :p

Yah, Redd is annoying if you don't time travel 😟

I just spiffied up my area for him, though, maybe he'll show up more now
(JK, I know he won't 😛)

The change of pace is big. Just playing one day a day feels so... dull. I need something new 😆

My thoughts exactly! Everyone on here has been super nice, but I've seen some people who get just so offended by the idea, and I remember meeting someone who played in real life once and one of the first questions they asked me, with a super serious face was, "Do you time travel?" I kind of gulped and was like "...Yeah?" and they just let out a sigh of relief and said "Oh, good, I just was hoping you wouldn't judge me for it!" That's when I learned some people are weird about it 😝

Same! I don't have the patience to wait for real life days to pass when I could be getting SO much more done, and be having so much more fun

See, I just don't get how it can "ruin" games or experiences. I'm not trying to be mean- I just don't get it. Like, if you do it and decide you don't like it, you can just... stop. I don't know why it would ruin anything!

I think in general more people on here are taking the no-time-travel approach because this is where all the people who care a lot about the game gather, and they are likely to have some quirks to their playstyle.
I mean... I care a lot about the game, too, though 😛 (I'm sure you don't mean it like that, that phrasing just kind of annoyed me, lol) I've been passionate about the Animal Crossing since the first one... but time travelling has always been part of the experience. Just as much a part as fishing or bug-catching for me!

And I don't see how there's even a "right or wrong" debate! It's a game, not a moral thing? Play it how you want, you literally can't play it wrong. Even if you buy the game to use the game card as a bookmark... you do you! Have fun

I always time travel when I'm designing my island to see how a certain bridge or incline looks.
Yah, if nothing else, when remodeling it would be super annoying not to, in my opinions!

I only did it on my second town just to catch up on my main.
The second town was set on April and I TTed until I reach the current date.

I TT less than I did in new leaf but still do it sometimes to get rid of villagers when I feel like island hopping lol or when I am in the situation I'm in now where I've had little or no time to play for weeks so I will need to set the date back in order to not be overrun by weeds and hurt villagers. I've also done it occasionally when I've been working towards completing my island theme and have the time to keep going, that way I can get the project thingys built without having to wait over night. I had a few weeks when the game first came out where I wasn't tting at all but yeah, I still do sometimes. No reason to feel bad about it, I agree with you, we should be able to play the game we bought the way we want to as long as it doesn't negatively impact others (eg: spoilers)

Ah yes, the phrasing is kind of wrong on that one. :p What I was trying to say is that when you gather the people who care most about something together, you're going to see some really passionate opinions from some of them, probably more so than you would when asking around in real life :D

It seems like the random TTing hate has ebbed, thank god.

I TT sometimes to speed up demolishing something or building something or if I missed an event. Otherwise I play day to day.

Right, I wouldn't post spoilers or anything! Couldn't agree more. I'm also lucky that I have nothing but time right now (Was working at a school but... well, you know. And now it's summer anyway) but I can't imagine not time-travelling if I would miss days, ESPECIALLY event days or something 😲

Lol, that makes sense. I guess my real life friends are just kind of weird, then? Or maybe it was just that... everyone seemed to time travel, and no one was judging it.

I TT sometimes to speed up demolishing something or building something or if I missed an event. Otherwise I play day to day.
Yah, it's super convenient, especially when you've got a lot of stuff to move or build! I keep time travelling back lately because I'm nearing the summer fishing tourney and I'd like to get all my houses in place right now, and I'm moving nearly everyone as I remodel!
Also, the fact that we can't move a house over a square or two, drives me NUTS. I time travel extra to make sure I don't have to leave someone in a really weird place for a day when all I wanted was to move over a teeny bit 😒

I only did it on my second town just to catch up on my main.

Yah, I don't plan on restarting anytime soon, but if/when I do I'll probably go back... depending on when.

I normally restart my game a lot, probably more than I should (and THAT I get regretting and getting upset over), but I'm trying to hold out in this game. I'd love to see if I could go a whole year in this town!

I don't. And that won't ever change.

I have nothing against people doing it. Players can enjoy whatever they want with their game. :)
