Who Else Time Travels?

Yup! Like I said, you do you 😁

My apologies. I misunderstood your thread. I will see myself out after this. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, I can share to you what my friend told me about time traveling. It makes moving villagers easy. In a nutshell, it does improve the overall game experience because you eliminated the gruelling "waiting" part of game.

In a subject of being questioned, my friend told me to "steel" yourself if someone tells you that it's cheating. Don't take it offensively. It's their personal opinion and belief. (Technically, I don't believe that it is cheating. Otherwise, developers already patched the game a long time ago.)

i time travel...but this is the first time that ive done so in any animal crossing game.
i just want to build my town and not worry about catching the fish needed for the museum once ive re-arranged the rivers.

I use to time travel in NL but it killed the whole game for me. I made my whole town perfect and got all my “dreamies” (just the villagers I found aesthetically pleasing) and after that I Put the game down and never picked it up again. So I’m not going to time travel this time around. Even tho I do benifit from other people time traveling by buying things I couldn’t get unless I TTed (like Mom items and such) so I have no problem with other people doing it if it makes them happy.

I time traveled a lot in the beginning because I was stuck at home due to Covid and was playing about 9 hours a day. And after about 4 hours, you really run out of stuff to do (especially in the early game), so I would play 2-3 in-game days for every real day.

But when the Bunny Day update was released, I went back to mostly playing in real time, just because I want to get updates alongside everyone else. That said, I still TT maybe a couple times a week when I miss a day because of homework, or don't get time to play until late at night when all the shops are closed.

i've been TTing since Wild World, and I don't see anything wrong with it at all. For me, it makes the game less stressful and more fun because I don't feel like I have to play every day or like I'm going to miss out on something because real life had to take precedence.

Also, in a couple years or once I feel like I'm close to being "done" with the game (ie. tired of it), I will probably TT just to fill up my art gallery. I've never completed it in any game, and I really want to collect everything this time!

Oh! I guess I misunderstood your reply, since I thought we were just agreeing with each other 😂 Or, I guess, agreeing to disagree on whether or not we time travel- but agreeing that there's nothing wrong either way!

I have no shame anymore either. Sometimes I’m too lazy to time travel though. Lol
Yah, I admit, I find it a tad annoying that you need to put so much effort into it in this game. But, I guess since some events are gonna be timed (again, still not thrilled about it) it makes sense it needs to go by the system clock.

Lol, that makes sense! I've been being careful messing with my ponds since I've heard if you make them too big the game counts them as rivers.

I just don't think I've ever gotten my town "perfect" There's always SOMETHING I can find to do. Even when I felt like there wasn't anything to do in NL... I'd just start over. But, I'm weird, in that I restart games A LOT. Even games with actual plots, I'll get bored and restart. I... I don't actually finish many games  But ACNH feels especially different because I finally realized one day... my town will never be perfect. There will always be something I can improve on or change.

Which is an AWESOME thing, because it means I can always have goals and things to do!

See, that's a big reason I do it. Even without Covid, I spend WAY too much time playing video games, so spending all that time playing one day... eventually, I really do run out of stuff to do 😅 I though tACNH was maybe gonna be different, since I was working leading up to the release, but then -just- before the actual release all the schools in my state closed. So... I've not had a ton to do besides replying to emails (I'm a tutor, not a teacher, I have A TON of respect for how hard they've been working)
(also, I love your avatar- Tangy's one of my favorite villagers!)

Me but only if I feel like it, like in the beginning I just wanted everything done and over with (also bc quarantine, might as well abuse it while I can). I've pretty much completed everything that requires TTing on my island so now I almost don't TT

Yeah I also don’t be feeling like cleaning up my island when I go back to current date. But that’s just part of the price to pay when I TT. I still love it and I’ll wear my badge as time traveler proudly. I remember seeing comments on another animal crossing website and people were just bashing time travelers saying that Nintendo needs to add a badge that says “cheater” for people like us. It trips me out that people were really bothered by this.

I know the feeling! I got NH really soon after I got my Switch, so I didn't have many other games for it. Luckily I got a few more games now, so I can avoid TTing by switching between a few different titles. I also work in education (as a paraprofessional, studying to become a teacher), and with summer school being online this year (and thus not needing paras), I have a lot of time to kill, even with my grad school homework. I imagine tutors are in the same boat as paras, with much less to do than normal due to lack of students. Hopefully things will pick back up (safely) in the fall!

Thank you - Tangy's my absolute favorite! I swear, she just gets cuter every game. (Plus her house is extra-adorable and well-themed this time around.)

I usually do, but there's a catch for summer, or rather, winter (Southern Hem). See, when you make snowboys, perfect or not, and you go backwards (I usually like to jump forward a week and then bounce back to the actual date to randomize the NPC for the day), all of the snowboys you have previously built, disappear. They're like turnips in that fashion -- go backwards & they "spoil". Which, for me, wouldn't be great. See, I've now mastered the way of building perfect snowboys, the ones that give you the DIYs, and every day until they melt (4 days including the day they were "built"), they give you a large snowflake. Which is required to craft the frozen set. And you can have 4 on your island at a time. So getting 4 large snowflakes a day, assuming you keep building perfect ones in place of the one that had melted the day of, is pretty nice. Losing all of them because you went back 1 measly minute... not worth it.

Sorry for the rant. I don't think I'll be TT'ing until the snow is gone. 😅

Yes, I do time travel. It is currently 11 am on July 18 on my island, for whatever that's worth.

There's three main reasons why I started time traveling:
1. Catalog ordering - The 5 item / day rule is incredibly annoying; in New Leaf, you could get away with TTing within the same day by hopping before / after 5 PM within the same day to order a large amount of items. You could also order ten at a time, which is twice more than New Horizons allows. I don't know why Nintendo decided to impose this restriction, but it's a barrier that can be easily overcome with TTing.
2. Redd - Redd basically never shows up on my island, but it's possible to get as many paintings / statues as you want in one sitting by getting him to spawn, TTing forward one day, and then TTing back one day. I honestly haven't used this that much, but I hope to do so in the future.
3. Turnips - Turnip queues and the like on Sunday / Monday take forever, even as the game's popularity has died down. Also, since I TT all over the place, I can't buy turnips on Sunday and hold them for several days. By TTing, I can look for good prices on low-demand days (Wednesday / Thursday / Friday), set my in-game clock to Sunday morning, and make as many runs as I want.

Oh! I guess I misunderstood your reply, since I thought we were just agreeing with each other 😂 Or, I guess, agreeing to disagree on whether or not we time travel- but agreeing that there's nothing wrong either way!

It's my mistake of not reading the entirety of your post. Anyway, I added an appropriate response this time. We're good here! :ROFLMAO:

I timetravel. not a lot because i like to experience the game on a day by day basis. but I timetravel when I want to kick some villager out. usually when someone I like is looking for a new home.

I used to not do it, and even then I agreed with OP. Why are people mad at timetravellers? it's a solo game mostly. it doesn't affect anything. if they want to play this way and are having fun, then why not?
so, then, is timetravelling cheating? yes. but really no. why not? Animal crossing has no real goal. no endpoint. no win condition. there is no competition in getting the island you want as fast as possible. so, with none of that, can you actually call something cheating? using an exploit, sure. but that's not the same thing ^_^ unless you are suggesting "you are cheating yourself"

I tome travel every single day now...technically.

My work schedule for the last couple months has been insane and I just don't get the chances to play throughout the day the way I did at launch. So I don't actually travel forward in time to achieve anything. I just have to change game clock to differing hours throughout each day so I can do normal stuff like get to my stores before they close, hand out gifts to everyone before the go to bed etc.

I do, my house and island would be bare if I didn’t🤣 and honestly I don’t think I would enjoy the game as much if I didn’t. I haven’t time travelled too far though, like I would like to experience fall and winter in real time! But that being said ARE WE ALL SUPER HYPED FOR THIS UPDATE, bring me allllll of that mermaid furniture🥺🥺

I am! Can’t wait for the mermaid furniture too. And yayyy swimming!!!

I haven’t time travelled ........yet 😊 was thinking about it as was getting a bit bored. Then new update was announced so excited!! Can’t wait 🎉

I didn't time travel the first 3 to 4 times I redecorated my island because I was too scared to.

Since then I have done it and I'm like.. why the hell did I not do this sooner?? It just sort of brings new life to the game after for me and made it a bit more exciting again. I mainly time travelled to move buildings and swap my villagers out.

I never time travelled for bug and fish collecting though I'm waiting for those to come naturally because it's something to look forward to every month! Also didn't time travel to different seasons for the same reason
