Who Else Time Travels?

Slight bump, found culprit. Sleuth days are over.

I feel like time traveling being an issue is really only a thing that become prominent with NH. I don't remember anyone getting their undies in a twist in NL or the other games. Like seriously, maybe it's because I joined the AC/NL community scene in 2017 when the newness wore off for everyone and everyone was fine with it then, but I don't recall ever seeing as many TT hate topics. So part of me feels like people who joined the game due to covid/being off work/school came into the mix and were trying to gatekeep how the game should be played when they just joined themselves.

Since I can’t play the game every single day, I like to time travel back to the days I’ve missed and do everything I need to do to play until I catch up again. I don’t think I ever time traveled in the gamecube one, only because I was too young at the time and time traveling never occurred to me. I believe I did do quite some traveling in New Leaf though. All in all, I’m not against it. Everyone should be able to play the game however they want to.

I do sometimes. For instance, in early October I was too busy to play, so when I finally had time (around Oct 9th) I went back to October 1st and made sure i collected my candy and spooky furniture piece everyday. I didn’t want to miss out on that stuff just because I couldn’t commit to playing daily.

It's been a debate since WW. Haha the only one where no one really cared was gamecube, because there was almost no connectivity. But I remember reading fights about it over a decade ago 😅

Like I said, me joining the scene in NL's later life was probably why I pretty much avoided all the hate topics if they were there (and were) I got NL on Xmas 2014, but I pretty much didn't get into any social sites until way later.

I’ve been playing since wild world and this is the only game that I time traveled. I only do it occasionally when villagers move out or when I get decorating ideas and want to complete it right away. I’ve decided I won’t time travel to get seasonal items or holiday events so I get to enjoy them real time. It hasn’t affected my enjoyment of the game and I think I actually enjoyed the game more when I started doing it.

I've time traveled since the first AC title I picked up and played. Some titles I'd time travel more, while with other titles, I felt less of a need to, but I still did on occasion.

Wild World is one AC title that I rarely time traveled in because I didn't feel much need to. I was enjoying reading the quirky and funny things villagers had to say and how unique each personality was, and there were a lot more request from villagers to complete. Watering flowers, catching bugs, fishing, reading and sometimes I would just stand idle and enjoy the music. 😊

In AC GCN, I also didn't time travel that often. There was just so much to do and enjoy that I also didn't feel the need to Time Travel. The music was so great, I didn't ever get tired of listening to it in the background while I did tasks. Completing villagers request was also more challenging because the map was bigger and there were more villagers to work with.

New Leaf is where I started Time Traveling more. The music was not bad, but it just wasn't vibing with me. And every personality was so similar that it was hard to tell them apart. Even the cranky villagers were overly nice, which to me made talking to my villagers boring.

New Horizons is a huge improvement in many ways and a drawback in others. I don't time travel much in New Horizons, except for collecting DIYs and certain items. There's so much busywork in NH that I only manage to time travel once that day if I able to. The dialogue has definitely improved, though it can use a little more spice IMO. The music isn't as good as GCN or WW but I still like it. For some reason I can tolerate it more than NL. Idk why. My favorite is 9am-12pm

Anyway I've never had any direct conflicts over time traveling myself, though I have read a few heated comments about it.

I don't super religiously, but especially as of late I'll time travel to the past couple days if I'm not able to play for a bit. I also used to much more religiously in NL because I've lost some of my favorite villagers if I've left for extended periods.

I originally planned on trying not to tt for NH, but that didn’t last long lol. I usually tt a day or two forward (and then back to regular time) the most. I haven’t tted much lately though.

I do some time traveling - mainly if I'm trying to move in a villager, or when Redd visits. Once I realized how infrequent Redd's visits were, I decided I wanted to work on my art gallery with TT. I don't see a problem either way, play however makes you happy :)
Oh dude I just did this and completed it today lol took 4 days to complete the art gallery with time travelling. Felt like forever but it was so worth it. :3

Time travel has been my preferred method of play since my days of playing the GameCube game in my youth. Up until New Horizons, I'd tend to play multiple in-game days per real day to get new items and whatnot from the shops. Now though, due to the content of the game being added piecemeal through updates, I still time travel but I instead generally lag behind the real world by a few days. That is, except during special events like the upcoming Halloween. I'd usually try to play the in-game holiday on the actual holiday for most occasions, though for this year's Halloween festivities, I'll be playing the in-game Halloween early as I don't intend to play the game at all on Halloween day itself.

I tend to prefer to lag behind because it grants me the ability to basically play the same way I always have if I so choose, without fear of outpacing whatever content they'll add to the game through the updates.

i do! i don’t do it as much as i did in wild world and new leaf but i still enjoy doing it sometimes aha. back in april, i tt’d to june as i really wanted to catch a shark and i didn’t want to have to wait two months to do it in real-time and so,, i did a lil tt, caught a hammerhead and tt’d back to the actual date once i was satisfied :). other than that, most of my tt’ing came after a hefty hiatus and so i spent a while trying to catch up to regular time aha c’:

I time traveled a day ahead for the first bug off, because I couldn't play on the actual day.

I time traveled a couple days ahead when I was moving 5 villager homes.

And I time traveled a few times this month, because I was impatient. I wanted my pumpkin patch to grow so I could make diy's.

I'm not against time travel, but I'm trying not to do it in New Horizons. I've failed a few times.

I am a time traveller mostly because I work weird hours so when I eventually get back home I have missed a few days from being to tired or I just want to play in the day time. I never used to be a time traveller as I did not know about it in new leaf till a friend told me so in the last months of me playing new leaf I would time travel.

Yes and no. I just see it as a feature of the game and I think when people have a problem with it it's their problem.

I did it a lot in the beginning to unlock things like the museum, instantly have public works projects completed and also to kick out villagers I didn't want to then hunt for my dreamies. A personal rule for me though was I'd only ever time travel within the month it actually was because for my personal experience I want it to feel like the year is actually progessing, and the same for fixed dated events; so I haven't played on Halloween night yet. I've basically stopped now because I don't have much I need to do. But say if I want to move something or build/demolish something in future I probably will time travel just to have it instantly.

For some people it enhances their enjoyment of the game and for others it doesn't and both ways are fine. Actually from what I've seen of this forum's community whenever time travel comes up it seems basically everyone gets that and it's been nice to see.

I still don't.

I might start doing it after the official 1 year point. I want to at least complete my base museum before I do it. By which, I mean...the insects, fish, and fossils. My fossils have been finished for months...but I still need a few winter fish and insects to be complete. After that, I very well might start TT'ing to finish the art (because it takes forever otherwise).

personally, i don't care what anyone else does to their game because it doesn't have anything to do with mine. i'm just not fond of when things get spoiled for me due to TT'ing. luckily, i know not too much will be spoiled because i imagine nintendo will drop updates as they come into play, the way they did with the halloween, but.. idk. spoils a little bit of the fun for me when i'm a normal player, just grinding through my days, and then all of a sudden i know the DIYs i was supposed to get on an event, etc.

i think if i was to ever start TTing, it'd most likely be to speed up the process of my building arrangements and decorating c:
