Your AC Rep?

I never know how to answer this. My rep isn’t really a “character” in my mind, just a blank slate that I play through, so of course they’re kind of based on me, because I choose clothes and furniture and haircuts in styles I like and I answer villager questions honestly. But I definitely don’t think of her as me, either. She has a different name, wears lots of things I find cute in-game but wouldn’t be interested in for real life, and I do imagine her as having a few in-game hobbies.
Aside from using the name I go by on the internet, that's how I do it. My character is a role I play in the context of the game, not me. Appearance-wise, the only thing that doesn't have a more precise real-me option is their eye color.

My other characters are actual characters and OCs from other contexts and they look as close as I can get them, and one is completely original to NH.

He's more or less me. He shares my name (Chris) and wears the same styles of clothing I do (goth/punk) although I certainly dress louder. I don't have the blond mohawk IRL anymore but I did in 2020. I'm too lazy for the maintenance and styling required for that so currently it is dark and tied up in a top knot 99% of the time - although admittedly every time I see my rep I'm inspired to go back to the mohawk. 😂

The key difference is probably temperament. I always screenshot him looking angry whereas I'm a fairly happy and laidback person.

My island rep is supposed to represent me. I usually keep the hairstyle and colour similar to how I currently look and I tend to wear outfits that I could see myself wearing… but I also wear a lot of dresses/skirts, which I rarely do in real life. I’ve always seen AC games as “me living with my animal friends” 😂

Kind of, in the sense that I consider my rep to be me even though he doesn't always resemble me. He has my name, but I use whatever hair style/color and eye color I want (I change it often to match my outfit, but I usually keep the hair color brown, which is my actual hair color). Doesn't dress anything like me, though, lol! I'm boring irl and just dress in comfortable cotton things like T-shirts and sweatpants because of sensory issues with other fabrics. I dress my rep up in anything I think is cute or cool. Sometimes I dress my character up as a girl because I like feminine customization options in games much more than masculine ones most of the time. Here are some pics!

That depends. My rep resembles me in most days and sometimes do not (cosplaying). Choices of clothing are skirts, dresses, and shorts (only in late spring and summer).

My character looks like me, but I recently gave her blond hair. I've never had blond hair and wanted to try something different.

I have a character named after my husband. I made him look like him.

I have 6 other characters....

Smokey the Bear
Papa Smurf
Honey the honey bee
Daisy- she lives on a farm and looks like a duck.
Hazel- she owns a hotel and looks like a cat.
Reseti- I had originally made this character look like Reseti, but he looked so funny, so I changed him to a female version. She's very cute.

I try and make my island rep look as close to how I look irl as much as possible, but there are some limitations to that unfortunately, like none of the hair options I currently have look like my true hair (the one I currently use is close but not nearly as long as my real hair) is a big issue. Other than that he's pretty close, like my winter outfit in Animal Crossing is pretty much exactly what I wear outside irl during this season, especially the grey peacoat being a staple of my outfit

My rep is Panda and sorta looks like me (brown hair, brown eyes) but I'm not that pretty or cute lol. My other character is Milly and looks nothing like me, she's very colorful and alien-ish

I base her off of myself and she even has my name. ^^

in previous games, my character never resembled myself — she always looked completely different, had a different name, etc. i wasn’t trying to make ocs either, though — i just chose whatever name/s and appearance/s i liked at the time.

as for my new horizons rep, she has the same name as me, but she doesn’t look like me at all. we have the same hair, eye and skin colour, but otherwise she mostly looks like what i wish i looked like.

My rep sometimes resembles me I guess? I gave her my real hair color, and I generally put clothes on her that I think look cute. Her name is my nickname. That‘s it with the similarities. I change her eye color depending on the clothes she wears, and I wouldn’t necessarily dress like her in real life.

I make my ACNH rep resemble me, though the outfits I choose don’t always resemble what I’d wear IRL. 😊 One of my go-to outfits is the “colourful striped sweater” in orange, yellow and black. I don’t think I’ve ever owned an orange piece of clothing. You’d be far more likely to see me IRL with the black, coral and pink version!

My rep is me, but wears all the cute outfits I can't pull off in real life.

I match skin tone, eyes, and hair color/style as best I can. It's fun to imagine myself living on the island.

Both of my characters look similar to each other but one is wearing a custom outfit with a different color and the other has different eye color.

All of my AC characters in all games are ME. I make them wear what I would wear and look like me! I also name them all Garrison. In New Horizons my character is super duper ✨fancy✨ but in NL I actually have two characters. One is the one that wears green clothes and fancy stuff but my second character in my second town I wear tons of rainbow clothes as my town of rainbow is super colorful. In CF WW and GCN the characters looks kinda like me buuuut not SUPER DUPER like me. CF is closer though. I do have side characters that have houses in my towns though that are based on my family members or favorites characters like Kaito or Daisy.

I tend to consider all of my PCs in the games to be their own separate characters, rather than personifications of myself. Despite Animal Crossing not being a role-playing game, I still enjoy dabbling in role-play through my main and alt characters. So far, I've only have my Rep in NH. Just as my Mayor in NL, he dresses in skirts and dresses (because skirts and dresses are fun to wear and I'm so glad clothes aren't gender-locked in these games), initially had a black bob hairstyle, until I changed it to a bright purple side-ponytail to match his dopey eyelids. His skin is somewhat brown in color, and his eyes are black. I think he turned out well.

I don't care much for making my avatars look just as I do, because it seems more fun to experiment with the options the game has for you. Though there's nothing wrong with trying to have it both ways, I think.

My resident rep looks like me - same hair color and eye color, and her name is Fox after my nickname. I dress her both how I do dress and how I wish I was bold enough to dress, though the latter is much less common.
I felt the need to update this because of how much I love my pocket camp rep (my avatar). I tried to modify my NH rep to resemble my PC rep, but even with all of the new hair styles and colors available, I still can't get her to look similar enough to make the change. Though, I haven't yet tried using Harriet's styling services. If I'm able to achieve the same look in-game as my avatar, my rep will no longer resemble me.

my ac rep resembles me a bit but not entirely. we have the same name, and most of the time i like to dress my rep in cozy clothes because thats my favorite way to dress most of the time haha. i also gave my rep the same face mole i have lol. we both have short hair, but my rep has light gray hair and light gray eyes while my hair is light brown and my eyes are hazel. i guess my rep is more ghostly looking which i think matches my personality more haha. i dont feel the need to restrict my ac rep to look similar to me though, sometimes ill change their outfit to something fun and random or something id never wear in real life, but overall i think my rep is fairly similar to me.

None of my animal crossing reps look like me. The one on my avatar has some features that resemble me ( dark hair, dark eyes, big eyes, birthday ). That’s about it. I do not wear braided pigtails, and I don’t wear much black in real life. Though I love wearing black, I have a dog that has white hair, and dog hair on clothing is just not my thing. I try to wear clothing that the hair won’t show lol.

All my reps tend to be more on the gothic side, so I guess that’s something that resembles me. I love gothic things and decor. Mainly I make them up. I come up with a theme for all of them, and then I sort of give them matching name, clothing, houses, etc. They weren’t made to look like me.

Yes, definitely. My character has the same tan skin, dark-brown + long + wavy hair, and brown eyes as I do. Even the clothing style is the same; Sweaters/hoodies/jackets, sweatpants, and slippers. I named my character Zelda, which I chose because a) it's my favorite video game series b) it's also a nice name, and I wanted to change my name to Zelda. (Decided against it because it seems a bit too feminine. I considered Link but I thought it was a bit too masculine, even though he's one of the most gender-neutral characters I know.)
