Hate it? Love it? Both? I personally have a love gate relationship with cottagecore because while it is really cute and aesthetic, the suffocating amount of players doing cottagecore has led me to dislike it a little because thats what i see everytime when i open up my AC feed. Like, does majority of the community have no creativity to do something else?

I like it, I think it works really well with New Horizons. Personally I have my island set up with a town on one side of the river and a spooky forest on the other, so it’s kinda like cottagecore in that I have a forest lol. I think right now with the amount of items we have they just seem to fit the easiest with cottagecore, unless one would like to take the hours upon hours it takes to make those city islands

I like how peaceful it seems and personally although I enjoy looking at them I would never attempt to make a cottagecore island myself because that's not the theme im going for for my island.

I think they're really pretty! It's not my theme but I love to visit them. I think enough of the people I visit have other themes (some are city, colorful, dark colors, etc) that the cottagecore ones I see in person are really cute! I get though that it feels like everyone online has that theme!

They're pretty in my opinion, not really my thing, but it looks nice.
Although I might mix cottagecore with other themes as well.

I just looked it up basically that's what I was going for with my island in a sense. Love it!

But what does cottagecore mean...? I think I'm closer to fairycore

I see it as the new "pink and white town" in New Horizons. I really love the look and was doing that sort of thing before I came across the term "cottagecore" because I am also interested in the classic lolita and mori girl (or mori kei) fashion styles. The more natural mix and match items in New Horizons really go with the look too, so I think it is natural that it would be super popular. In New Leaf, the natural look was getting to be super popular during the end of the life cycle, so it is only natural (ha!) that it would come over to New Horizons too.

I have a prediction that something more curated and "put together" will eventually evolve as a backlash to the cottagecore popularity when more items are added into the game through updates. I just have no idea what that would look like right now other than "rural Japanese city".

It fits animal crossing really well so I get how people do it a lot. Personally want to do it myself, sadly it’s very challenging for me. I wouldn’t get tired of it personally cause it’s just very attractive to the eye. I love other themed islands like city and japanese islands too. Another new favorite is the medieval themed islands!

I don't know if cottagecore means what I think it does.
I prefer forestcore

I like it. People might say it’s a bit overdone at this point but it’s okay. Personally, I prefer a more natural aesthetic than a heavily manicured urban aesthetic. But it’s all just a matter of preference.

I feel like its only natural for the game for people to design this way and it kindve irks me that a term is being used for it I dont like labels at all..

It looks really nice, but it's too much work for me XD I have a beach town: All villagers live in a neat single row next to the beach, I've decorated a few backyards for them too. The rest of the island is filled with fruit trees and flowers, but definitely not something I'd label cottagecore, it's not 'designed' enough for that.

I love it, most of them are really beautiful! There are so many items that fit that theme, It works really well for this game. If I ever reset my island in a couple years I may do that.
I won't like or dislike something just because it's popular or not!

It's cute and I like it, however I think I've seen enough cottagecore island tour videos at this point. I mean, there are entire Youtube channels dedicated to just that! I do prefer cottagecore over more urban themes, I think that I use elements of it myself, but I feel just a little oversaturated with the hype surrounding it.

I like it and am trying to make my island cottagacore now. I do believe that it is a much used theme though. Which, imo, has to do with the limited furniture we have. Just imagine the variety of island looks if we had all the other furniture sets and/or more (PC stuff as well)! That’s why most of the islands look very much the same, which is sad....

i think they're really cute! definitely some of the inspo for my island, but i also find myself looking for different kinds of islands these days for inspo. i've seen all that i can see w/ cottagecore. i'm leaning more toward overgrown ruins these days and i want to see more examples like that... think breath of the wild lol. i want things in my game to look old and it's proving difficult to execute that.

there will always be trends and i'm not overly concerned about that at the end of the day. i would love a larger selection of items in-game bc the selection right now definitely lends itself to cottagecore.

I’m not a huge fan but I love how creative everyone gets to emphasize a theme they’re creating on their islands!

I think cottagecore can be cute depending on the island, it's just not my style for my own.
