I kind of mentioned it in the OP. It really just came down to wanting to doing something nice for the community, because I know there are those out there who want to play multiplayer, but may not have the means to buy a subscription (Especially now with COVID-19 and all).

Originally I wanted to give out 1x 12-month sub, but I figured for about the same price I could make 3 people happy, and it felt right that on three-twenties day, I could give 3-months to 3-people
