Anyone here who doesn't use social media? (Or not often)

I have a Twitter account, but only for uploading screenshots from the Switch. Other than that, I have Snapchat and Instagram and spend time on Reddit sometimes. I wouldn't be caught dead on Facebook, though.

I don't use social media at all (this forum is probably as close as I get), though I did have a Myspace account years ago when it first came about, not that I ever really used it. I'm sure there are many people that really enjoy using social media and it can be a good way to keep up with friends and family but I generally feel it comes with too many downsides to get involved in it, I'm happy to keep up with my friends and family in other ways.

I'm on a few social media sites but I rarely post updates on any of them, instead I just lurk and use them as various sources of news. I mainly use Tumblr for my fashion blog as it suits what I want to post without feeling like I have to make a personal statement for the world to see etc.

I'm really trying to stop wasting my time on Twitter and Reddit... so far no luck....

Instagram i feel was the worst for me, all I did was compare my life with others in communities I followed.... but ended up deleting my account for good and feel better about it

YouTube is pretty much lame to me now, just drama, commentary channels, Switch Pro rumor each day..... all I do now on YT is watch trailers, music videos & history videos lol

I have a Facebook but uninstalled the app from my phone and never get on anywhere as I have zero desire. The amount of fake news, negativity, its even overflowing into pinterest since they added comments. I can't. I don't even watch the news. If it's that important I will hear about it at work. That's how I heard about covid. I work customer service and interact with people during the day that I just don't want to add more to that. I think I'm mainly just done with people as a whole unless it's necessary for survival. It's all saddening to me and makes me afraid for the human race. I don't seek the stuff out. It's just the majority of the crap popping up in my news feed.

i havent had any social media for about,,, 4 years ? ive been off n on of ig n twitter i believe but im not on them at all anymore

i don't use social media at all, really. i went through a huge mental health episode last year and deleted every platform i was on and haven't gone back. the closest thing to social media i use would be this forum and youtube, but i don't consider either to be true social media.

I use tumblr, but that's it

I stopped using fb ages ago because I hated it so much, and I've never used instagram or twitter

I don’t really use it. My friends think I’m weird. I just don’t like it , and I don’t really like to share my life much.

I try not to use social media. I browse Facebook from time to time, but I rarely post anything.

i only have facebook but i don't use it, i'd delete it but i use messenger to text my sister

i could use the regular messenger on my phone, but then i won't be able to send pictures, videos or business fish stickers and i'm not ready to make that sacrifice 😂

I got rid of social media not long after COVID hit last year, and I don't miss it at all. I'm Zuckerberg's age, and I remember when Facebook hit it big among us collegians in 2006; the early years were fun, and even the early part of the 2010s were good, as I connected/reconnected with lots of family, old school friends, and such. I think I had around 200 friends in 2012 or thereabouts. But as the political times became more and more fractured, FB got out of control, and it became downright intolerable in this last crazy year. I don't plan to return. I'm too old for all the nonsense that goes on there. I'm happiest with my beloved and our two cats at home. Been there, done that, moved on. It had some nice times while it lasted, but I don't care for what social media has become anymore.

I dont have any account but I enjoy searching Twitter and Reddit occasionally at baked sweets and goods. I mostly use Pinterest for that now so I normally dont use social media other than this website and YouTube.

I'm trying not to. I deactivated my Instagram and deleted my Twitter, but I still spend too much time on Reddit 😅

I'll maybe browse the spammy timeline that is Facebook for maybe 5 minutes. I'd delete it but I feel bad about it because that's where my family/teachers are at. Though no one really talks to me on it anyway..

Personally, I use social media. I’m most active on Twitter and Instagram, as I use them to share my art and writing. I stay in that niche, so I don’t get too swept up in all the drama and negativity. I’ve found that staying within your interests, you’re less likely to encounter as many trolls and/or rude people as you would with general off-topic posts. (Not saying they aren’t there…I just personally haven’t encountered any.)

On Insta, I mostly follow drag queens and cute zoo/aquarium accounts. So stuff that makes me happy. I understand if people don’t like it though; Instagram has become bloated with TikToks and I really can’t stand that app and the robotic girl voice that narrates a lot of videos…. Nevertheless, it’s still fun for me lol.

Funny how this thread randomly popped up from the abyss. I was just thinking how much happier I’ve been since deleting social media. I recently deleted my last one in Snapchat. I use nothing but forums now, and Discord to communicate with people I’m close to.

Social media is just mindless scrolling and you’re basically bathing in negativity. I don’t need to advertise my life and I definitely don’t need to see other people advertising their life. I just worry about myself.

Edit: Oh, look, I commented a few posts prior to this one years ago. I no longer use social media, like I said. I consider myself a happier person because of it.

I've got accounts a few places, but I don't really use them. honestly not sure why I'm on twitter... well. it came in handy when I decided to commission someone once. but my social anxiety prevents me from posting or anything. has prevented me from even commissioning that same person again for some reason. I find social media to be really boring unless you interact with people on it.

I dislike social media and don't have a single account on any. The closest thing I have is Discord and a few accounts on various forums and fanfiction sites, which I'm content with.

Social media is a good way to connect with others, I suppose. But I already have my friends on Discord, so I don't see the point in having other apps. I just don't wanna get sucked into negativity, drama, and mindless scrolling. I really don't need to share my life either, because it's honestly pretty uninteresting.

I actually used to have a TikTok account a few years ago, and I even made videos. It was simple stuff showing off some Zelda merch I had, but still. I deleted my account a month later though because I hated the app (and still do - I won't go on a tangent about it, though).

I don't have much against Snapchat and Instagram I guess, but I cross the line at Twitter and Facebook. Those two social media apps in particular just seem really toxic and I never wanna make an account for either.

I guess if YouTube were to be counted as social media, then I'll admit that I use it frequently. But I only use it to listen to music, watch videos from the few select YouTubers I like, and post my slowed + reverb mixes of video game music (although I haven't posted anything in over a month).

TL;DR - I don't like social media.
