Definitely not for a WHILE. I'm very fortunate that funds are not an issue and that it is purely by choice. I absolutely loved my Wii U and 3DS growing up and frequently purchased games and got excited for new released. I didn't have that magic with the Switch...
I loved Splatoon 2, Pikmin 4, Hyrule Warriors AOC and Mario Wonder but many games disappointed me strongly. I never got into the booster course pass of MK8DX due to it's quality, New Horizons felt more like a reboot rather than a continuation of past games and Mario Party wasn't good until Superstars. Splatoon 3 also heavily disappointed me.
I truly am not really excited for the next Nintendo system and am in no rush to purchase new games. Many great things came out of the Switch but I feel like the quality of games and even the controllers / merchandise by extension dropped exponentially. I really thought this would be an unpopular opinion but it seems many share the same opinion! I may not even buy the next Nintendo system unless they really go back and make some stuff that interests me and COMPLETELY fixes the controller issues.
Perhaps? I'm not quite sure how it'll turn out despite the leaks which should be taken with a huge grain of salt to begin with. The only further improvement I could see is better performance compared to the current Switch which it desperately needs. Then again, Nintendo isn't really known for their gaming consoles being very powerful compared to their competitors, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're still behind.
I would need to know more before coming to an informed decision.
Yeah, I need it to feed my Nintendo (Pokemon) addiction.
I'll get it as soon as a game I really want comes out for it. I held out for so long for a good Pokemon switch and it never happened, so I don't know if I'll wait for a special edition console or not next time around.
Definitely not at launch, I’d wait for it to be on special. But it depends on what the release gaming library looks like, as tbh I’m in no rush to get it, I’m still happy with my switch and have a big gaming backlog! Maybe a year into release?? We’ll see at the time.
most likely not. i purchased the switch in 2020 when animal crossing came out, because before then i didn't have that much of an incline to its current games. right now im still using my switch regularly for splatoon, animal crossing, and pokemon, and until they release a new splatoon or animal crossing game (or if legends z-a is gonna be good) im most likely not gonna buy.
Well I'd buy it if a games comes out that I'm interested in, that would probably be an Animal Crossing game, or a special edition console, or a bundle comes along that I'd like to get.
i usually get most nintendo consoles but would guess that i will get the switch 2 but it’s unlikely to be straight away - probably any time between a few months and a year after it gets released, likely i’ll get it when a Pokemon game or whenever the next animal crossing game (if that comes to the switch 2, i’ll hold out hope!) comes out.
I might buy one when the next Animal Crossing game comes out, but I’m not going to stand tall like I did for the Nintendo Switch. I definitely can’t get one at launch, even if it were a birthday present or a Christmas present.
seeing as to how i don't use my lite as it is, that might change if i start getting back into mh/ac again. have a list of switch games that i've been wanting to play, but never get to since i use my pc and ps5 more. we'll see!
It'd really depend on the startibg lineup. Switch had Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when I got it but not much after that. Also, it was rather difficult to get a switch so I'd say a few months after release, at least. Especially with how tight money is right now.
Honestly not until they make me (when the new animal crossing comes out). I feel like I used to be such a nintendo kid but lately most of my gaming is on my PC. I love my switch and i'm in no hurry to upgrade. I feel like only an animal crossing would tempt me.
I definitely will be unfortunately, since I like Nintendo's IPs, however I'll be waiting until an Animal Crossing or good Pokemon game comes out for it.
After getting the 3DS, Wii U, and Switch all within a month of release I think I realized I never want to buy a console right when it comes out again. All three of those systems had very bare libraries around release and for the first two I was mostly just playing games from older consoles on them instead of games for the consoles themselves. My Switch was purely for Breath of The Wild for a good while until Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released. Buying a console on launch also increases the chance of getting hardware issues. In the case of the Switch I ran into every single hardware issue that people complained about at the time (dock scratching the screen, the kickstand breaking off, joycon drift etc.).
I'll wait at least several months until the system has a decent amount of games available. The only things that would make me want to buy the next console right away are either a new Mario Kart or Animal Crossing. Otherwise I'm going to wait on it.
