Inspired by The Polar Express, an Animal Crossing Advent Calendar train!

Featuring Engineer Porter and Engineer Kapp'n and some of my other favorite AC chars.
Made with carboard, origami paper, paint, construction paper, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, and markers.

The base is a paper grocery bag that I slit open and set on a piece of a cardboard box.
I used origami paper and wrapping paper scrap to make the cargo boxes.

I had to make several decoy boxes for my overly curious children. The origami tutorial I used was this one.
The train car origami was for a rectangular box instead, using this tutorial.

I then painted the paper bag base with some basig landscape colors, and then cut out some construction paper for the hills and the grass. I hole-punched a bunch of the green paper to let the lighter green paint pop through, like the AC pattern, but it didn't really pay off.

Fortunately, with the holes in the grass, the pipe cleaner train tracks could be threaded through.
I then cut some unrult circles for the wheels and attached everything. Porter and Kapp'n were drawn by hand.

@Chris Technically these are boxes instead of doors, so if you need me to add lids as doors to the boxes for this to count, I can certainly do so.
Or if the whole thing is somehow in violation of the rules, I will set fire to my train just have to draw a digital version of this. 🥲

I'm afraid this just won't do. Please send video footage of the tiny train fire so @Mick and I can watch the destruction. 🔥

(I'm kidding. Your entry will be accepted in a few minutes.)

Isabelle is busy at work decorating the tree in the Plaza!🎄💚

The handles on the "doors" (ornaments) are hard to see, but they're there. Sorry it looks so poorly made, I messed up quite a few times. 😅
Hi @vinnie! I'm afraid I cannot accept this because you added your name to the image digitally. We ask for name cards in physical submissions as evidence that you really made them yourself. If you could please resubmit your entry in a new post with a physical name card in your photo then we will be able to accept it.

Without further ado, I present my Animal Crossing advent calendar!

I was inspired by the advent calendar my late grandmother made for my mom and her siblings, and decided to go the sewing route on this one. Shout out to my sister, who taught me how to crochet and use the sewing machine just for this project. The calendar itself is made from flannel with a small set of lights sewn in. The stick is a dowel I made little clay balls for the ends of, and the string it's hung up by is crocheted yarn. The villager heads are made from felt, tiny pompoms, and a singular button, painted with acrylic paint. (Stitches' "eyes" are embroidered.) The felt heads are coarse and stick to the flannel, so they can be placed and removed as desired.

And here's a close-up of their happy little faces!
(please excuse any stray kitty hairs, they were all over this thing)

The villagers in their pockets. There's 25 heads, but that's just because Timmy and Tommy share a pocket of course!

My calendar in the works, before being sewn together.

Sorry about that, it completely slipped my mind. The picture's extremely blurry and dark, but here it is with my name card.

Thank you for taking a new photo. I've edited this into your original submission, and accepted the entry there, given the previous photo better shows off your entry.

I made my advent calendar based on a Christmas tree with dated ornaments. I drew each illustration individually in my very outdated WiiU art program/gamepad (I should probably upgrade) and then trimmed them down somewhat to keep the shape of a circled ornament. Each one is something you may do during the holidays such as building a snowman, staying warm near a fire, spending time with loved ones, decorating trees, and Santa's little helpers. That last one isn't something you would do, but I wanted to add them.
