Well yeah, English.
First language being Danish, I also had German in school, can't really speak it, but I can understand it if other people do, I know a bit of French too, also had that in school.
Other than English, I speak some Spanish and Korean. My parents are Korean and they were born in Korea but they moved abroad when they were on the younger side (high school/university) so they spoke English in my house when I was growing up. I wish I could speak it better. My Spanish is rusty but I was surprised at how much I remembered when I was traveling in Spain with my mom and there were some people who didn't speak English but I was able to get by with the Spanish I knew.
I only speak English fluently, but I fully understand Russian and partially Belarusian and Ukrainian. (I am Belarusian). I can speak slightly higher than basic Russian and I know if I commit to it I can be fluent bc both my parents speak it fluently to me (and i reply english haha)
I can also read, write and understand a bit of Simplified Chinese characters and French. Speaking them is hard though.
- i speak english fluently
- i know some gujarati because i'm half indian and my dad spoke in gujarati a lot when i was growing up
- also, from watching loads of tv and listening to music, i know a bit of italian, spanish, french and japanese (i can't speak it but i kinda know what it means when i hear it)
I'm native in German and Finnish! I also speak English fluently. I also know Swedish (six years in school), Farsi (from family) and Japanese (from my stays there, anime and random studying) all to some extent (let's say I'd survive in any of those languages no problem). I have learned a bit Chinese (Mandarin) as I lived in Shanghai for a year but it's really hardly worth mentioning. I'm currently learning Italian because of my partner (or more so his family) and am basically planning to become fluent at it at some point.
Being half Mexican, I understand Spanish completely, but I have a hard time speaking it at times. I was learning both languages growing up, but my English developed much better than my Spanish did.
If I could learn a third language, even if it's rough and broken, it would be Japanese.
I know some French, I've been learning it for around 5 years (on and off) but I've recently stop learning it due to a lack of free time - I have so much exams this year D:
I'm really interested in learning Japanese or Korean when I have more time. I find them really beautiful languages! I feel so boring when I only know English fluently :'P
I was born in Malaysia, but my parents and grandparents are Indonesians so i think I'm still an Indonesian. Therefore Indonesian is my first language and maybe a little bit of Arabic and of course English.
I speak English, but because I was born and raised in Hawaii, it was required to learn some Hawaiian (to at least pronounce street names or know historical names etc). I'm also part Japanese so I had to learn some japanese to speak with relatives. In college i learned a bit of Korean (i was on that korean wave hype train in 2014) and study abroad in South Korea for a semester... but no languages are spoken fluently </3 only basic or phrases at most. If anything my Japanese might be intermediate as I use that more often
I am a native English speaker. I also grew up learning French, but for lack of people to speak it with... my conversational ability is lacking. Though i try to read books in French often to not lose it. I’ve taken roughly 6 years of formal French classes.
I also understand an elementary level of Hindi spoken. I can’t read Devanagari, though. I never took any classes... i just watched so much Bollywood that eventually it started making sense
My native language is English, and I speak German basically fluently, but I could definitely be better in both languages. Oh well.
I also understand some individual words in Japanese from watching so much anime, lol, but obviously that doesn't count. It'd be great to be able to speak it at least conversationally.
i was born in the us so i'm an english speaker but my parents are from the philippines so i can kind of understand what theyre saying (especially when theyre yelling at me LOL) but i cant really speak back or i can talk back but in very few words. It's kind of a weird thing where I can listen to and understand their long sentences but i can only speak like 5 words max LOL. I'm also learning to speak korean and japanese
I do not. I took French for a couple of years (since I'm Canadian it was mandatory in my province from grades 4-7, but the grades you take it from vary from province to province) but I didn't really retain any of it. I think that's mainly because I hated French class. A lot of learning & grading in French relied on your ability to pronounce/speak the words so we had to do a lot of French presentations, skits, verbal tests, etc and it was horrible, lol. I'm really shy and hate presentations at the best of times but having to be extra nervous about whether or not I'm even pronouncing what I'm presenting right? Total nightmare. I'd love to learn French though, so that I have more job opportunities and whatnot but I have such a terrible time with pronunciations. I cannot roll my r's for the life of me, lol.
