I agree with this. There are less uchis than any other personality. At least we know there's 1 new uchi, though that doesn't help too much with the lack of uchis problem.

These are datamines of the game's files - mostly people looking for the prescence of models, dialogue files, etc. to verify whether certain items/characters are in the game. They're in the really early phases of digging and haven't found everything yet, but there are indications that a LOT of essential characters are missing - like Brewster, Rover, and gyroids.

Well, yes, that would be the best case scenario. But some of the early reviews corroborate things like gyroids are missing.

I am not too bummed at only 8 new villager if is true because we do have so many villagers and I haven't met most them still.
They couldn't find it yet but also said just because they couldn't find it yet doesn't mean it is not in the game. 3 weeks in doesn't mean you going to see all furniture in the game.

Regarding furniture - we don't see the word 'cabin' in the dateline BUT there's been a cabin table shown in the trailer. So it doesn't mean anything that certain characters are missing.
Also GameXplain (IIRC) saying that Resetti wasn't in the game was based off the fact that his Amiibo couldn't be scanned in, Nintendo addressed this earlier with the KK Slider example in the direct yet we still saw him in the game in screenshots.
So I wouldn't be too worried.

Wow. If true that’s actually a big disappointment for me ;ェ;
Knowing that all along would’ve been less upsetting, since the few new ones that they showed definitely made me expect at least triple that amount. Now I kinda wish I hadn’t seen them yet—I was really looking forward to running into others while I play.
No new personality or species, and just a handful of added characters? At that point why even bother?
I suppose I’ll try to stay optimistic and hope for future DLC villagers.

I'm not too worried about furniture/sets. They've changed how villager houses work, but I imagine the sets are still used in their themes. Those are probably one of the easier things to add in updates.
oh i guess i was misinformed all this time. i mean it was honestly a surprise to have new villagers considering they literally had to update all the graphics for this game. i'm not really a fan of any of the new ones; some of them seem too similar to older villagers.
Has the personality type of the wolf Audie been confirmed? I've been looking around and haven't seen much about her outside of a brief glimpse of her dialogue in a review video.
