Don't you think some villagers popularity is dwindling?

Ohey guys, so I've been on this forum a while, and I hang around the villager trading plaza a lot.. And it seems to me that some villagers who were popular when I first nosed around here aren't as popular anymore.. I think the main one to me is Shep.. He used to be super popular, being auctioned for tons, and now he doesn't seem to be traded very often at all, and he's given for free a fair amount..

Another main one is Julian, he's nowhere near as popular as he used to be.. Maybe it's because everyone who wanted him got him, or, like me, they realised he just sucks

Some villagers also seem to be increasing in popularity too.. Marshal particularly, he wasn't anywhere near as popular as he is now.. As well as Tia, she seems to be increasing too..

I dunno, was just a random thought I had, and a trend I've been noticing.. Anyone else agree?

I agree. I think a lot of it is that people have already achieved their dreamies, so they're not feeling the need to bid on villagers as often as well. I've noticed that Marshal, Merengue and Ankha are still really popular, but the rest don't seem to be as popular as before.

I don't mind Peanut. Had her in previous games and me and my sister made songs about her… I don't understand her popularity though, she's nothing special… neither is Merengue. Especially the fact that she's a normal.

I know I have Merengue, but I'm planning on giving her to a friend soon - she's alright but I don't like her as much as I thought I would now the novelty of her being a shortcake rhino's worn off, aha. Peanut's sweet, but I definitely preferred her on WW - her personality was better. Stitches grew on me to be honest, I had every intention of getting rid of him but he eventually grew on me and now I really like him. I know I have a few popular villagers, but I'm also planning on keeping my options open for new villagers too, as I find it really boring having the same villagers forever
I don't understand the popularity of the wolves though, I have 2 and I like them (Freya's one of my favourites) but idk why people go mad for them!

Exactly. There's other villagers with the same personality I'd rather have in her place - I much prefer Aurora to her ^^

Tangy has an orange for a head (and somehow that's a good thing)

I still feel like the unicorn should have been a female.
Maybe a white unicorn with pale lavender tips or something.

More of an elegant unicorn rather than a weird blue one with closed eyes.

Anyway, I think Jacques was also kind of popular at one point? But now people pretty much ignore him... I think.

And I don't think it's "gimmicks" that make those villagers popular, it's themes. Orange theme, Egyptian theme... or just something about them.

Honestly, I still don't understand how Marshal is cute; I just see frowny-face. But that's just me.

People don't seem to care about Frita a ton though, and she's french fries. So I don't get it.

I don't really like the popular villagers, except Diana. She was just one of my starters and I wanted to keep her in my town. Other than that I don't see the need to spend a bunch of bells on super popular villagers. But that's just me. I don't want my town to be like all the others, villager-wise anyway.
