im too tired to sift the thread but was there any specific way to solve #3? i got it by making a wild guess that the first word would be "dear" and that let me decode the rest lol

Yeah you decipher it that way, or at least that's how I did it. You kind of have to use to use the letter format to your advantage. Then, right after, two letters show up in the sender's name, and then by looking at the doodle, I was able to tell it's Mira. I don't think there's any TRUE way to find it (or at least I don't think so); I think it just comes to checking all the clues given.

The grammar helps a lot too (with apostrophes and such) it’s easy to piece it together like that and progress of elimination

I didn't even use the cipher for the first two; my initial thought for the fruit cipher ended up being right but for some reason I abandoned that idea and figured it out without a code, and then I didn't even think to look for a cipher for the second one - I solved them all by guesswork and process of elimination, but I still ended up doing them pretty fast and got everything right, so I'm proud of myself. I really liked solving these, even though I made some of them harder than necessary - I think it actually made it more fun!

I actually didn't decode #3 using catchphrases - I started with apostrophes and short words and went from there, since there's a limited amount of combinations those could be.

For example, a one letter word is either going to be "a" or "i".

Yesssss, the "__'_ __, ____" gave away the whole "It's me, Mira." Definitely very helpful!

I somehow got all three rounds right. I didn't expect to get a single one when this event was announced so I'm proud of myself and my one brain-cell.

I got the third one by brute forcing it after solving her catch-phrase. Not sure if that was the correct way but it worked!

woohoo!! got it all correct!! i was afraid putting "passive" would make me wrong since idk how a "passive infrared laser system" differed from a regular infrared laser system 😂

yeah the flowery painting question couldve been worded a bit better, had I submitted earlier I wouldnt have gotten it right since I misunderstood the question the first time around. But with a little better reading comprehension, it's all good! :] Thank you Kaiaa & staff for hosting, decoding was loads of fun and I hope this comes back in future events!! 💕

I’m still mad about Round 2’s question. I figured out the whole message after hours of working on it but because the question was confusing I didn’t get any tickets. :’(
Same thing happened to me. the actual question was a but confusing and I put "art in the museum" as the answer but it wasn't accepted. They said the museum was being raided, which indicated he was going to take more art than just the flowery painting. Oh well!

I really enjoyed this event, probably my favorite out of them all. Thanks for all the fun Kaiaa ☺

Rip I got messed up by the wording of the second question too

doesn't really sit right with me that I'm not getting the points because of this, I clearly deciphered it and I even put the entire deciphered message in the body of my post. oh well

Here it is, what you’ve all been waiting for the
Answers:

Code 1: North Beach

Code 2: Flowery Painting

Code 3: Infrared laser system

Hi staff! I answered code number two correctly (I thought I was losing my mind thinking it was wrong) but it never got accepted :(

Oh oof, that was my answer as well and I had the exact same thought process. I was basically thinking about the situation with too much logic because my brain was like "Well why would he raid the museum for only one painting? That makes no sense, he's obviously going for all the art he can get his dirty little hands on." Which wasn't the case lol. I'm honestly just glad to know I wasn't the only one who got that wrong. It really just depends on everyones thought process.

I agree it is upsetting to decipher the whole message only to get the wrong answer, but this is a new event so there was bound to be some trial and error. Hopefully some adjustments will be made if they bring this event back in the future. :0 I forgot who said this, but someone suggested that getting some kind of compensation (like one ticket?) for deciphering the message at the very least, and I honestly think that would a great solution so people don't feel like they completely failed?

I got 2 right, but I wasn't confident about my answer, so I can see why other people got it wrong. I actually wondered if I'd read too much into the message and if the answer was supposed to be just "the museum" or "art at the museum." Because of that I tried to cover the museum part in my answer just in case, so my answer was "the Flowery Painting that's at the museum."

I think people had the dilemma that:
a) Flowery painting was already stolen, so Redd was going to ‘raid the museum for more artwork’
b) Flower painting frame was empty, and Redd was going to raid the museum to fill the frame with the ‘flowery painting’

To answer the question, ‘What is the crook going after’, I still feel like there was no absolute indication of whether it was a or b, and it was solely on how you interpreted the context.

Or maybe I’m just not understanding? idk I’m still kinda confused, sorry if I sound dumb

I just knew instantly that the first part was 'dear' and the first sentence was 'it's me, mira'

then from there I just worked out the rest after I plugged in all those letters everywhere and gradually figured out what other words were supposed to be

hold up wasn’t round #2’s question “where is the crook going to steal from next” or do i not know how to read LMAO

I think it was “What is the crook going after?” but don’t remember if that was the exact wording P:

aw shoot I was between answers for #2 and I put the wrong thing d: I'll be ready for next year though! Thanks for all of the fun, the last one was my favorite to decode c:
