How have people IRL responded to your enthusiasm for NH?

I get belittled a lot in real life due to my age and the people I speak with, being family mostly, do not care for video games so they have very poor opinions on the games I play, mostly due to the lack of knowledge. Which really stinks, because without going too much into my younger years, they were pretty supportive of the games.

Not so much now. Oh well, I play what I want to play. If people wanna try to get under my skin about it, let em'. I'll tell em' they're dorks and move on, lol.

Not much to be honest. Most people here aren’t interested in video games, and if they are, Animal Crossing usually isn’t one of them. It’s unfortunate, but it happens.

They do not care for the most part, if I am ever even asked about it.
Then again, I do not know really anyone outside of online stuff.

I have 3 in my family getting the game, so I talk to them about it. My mom doesn't understand games at all but she's always nice about me looking forward to something.

I don't mention video games to people unless they bring up the topic first.

One, my best friend who is just happy that I'm happy/excited for Animal Crossing! xD She's never played one herself, and she doesn't own a Switch, unfortunately.

To be honest I don't talk about it that much to my friends and family. Like yeah I'm hyped for it but not enough to vocalize it all the time. I'm also quite reserved with my interests so I don't really talk that much in general about things I like or am excited for.

Also I think it's been so long since a new AC game came out that my true excitement won't surface until I actually get the game and play it for myself.

My family and boyfriend are very aware of my enthusiasm for this game to release. My sister and I grew up playing wild world and city folk together so we?re both equally excited about it!!
I?ve never really received any negative feedback from people when I mention AC. It?s just one of those games that?s hard to hate on lol.

Im in college and i've had about 6 friends approach me about never having played the game but are excited to buy it, and the majority of the other people i talk about NH with haven't played ac since city folk but theyre excited for it to come out. Even last night some guy two years older than me at a party told me he doesn't have a switch but was considering getting the new animal crossing switch. Never met him prior

Not sure what it is, gaming on the switch isn't really considered weird at my college I guess, and it seems like everyone I've ever talked to about it can agree that New Horizons is gonna be like one of the biggest games to ever hit the switch. Everyone i know is excited for new horizons and that extends to my friends, my older brothers friends, the people I live with, and most people in my course major! hype

Very supportive actually, though it may be the fact my mom used to game a lot when she was younger and our family is a gamer family, so almost everyone plays games of different genres, hoping to get a few playing with me, my mom and sister are who I’m hoping to get to relax with this game, my sister for the most part

My friends are SO OVER IT, haha.

My boyfriend especially.

But he said he will play with me to make me happy so, that will be new.

Well I don't have irl friends sooooo and I don't hype games to my parents....and even though I do have two online friends whom I've been friends for years I haven't been hyping the game but they know, they're going to purchase the game, we'll be playing.

I don't really have any friends anymore, as I've only recently moved to a new state about five years ago and there isn't really anyone around that's close to my age, so I haven't really had as any reactions other than my dad. He's not too fond of video games, but I like to tease him about his hobbies just to get even with him about him teasing mine. xD

So, I guess everything has been positive so far. :)

I never really even bring up this specific game to them. To my loved ones, I'm just "gaming" no matter what game it is - they can't really tell the difference between them. All I tell them is that I'm excited for a new game, and they accept and don't berate me as long as I can pull it off money-wise and as long as I keep up with my young adult responsibilities :)

My brother and father are actually pretty excited because we used to play AC together on the Wii! I also have a friend who is into AC (not as obsessed as I am though lol) and can't wait for the game to come out. The rest of my friends don't really care or know about it and it's fine, we all have some niche hobbies we don't have to share with the rest of the world. It's nice to have something just for yourself, I think.

The only people I ever discuss video games with IRL are my parents. No one else I know in person seems to play games, which makes for a somewhat lonely hobby. My parents have absolutely no interest in playing games themselves, and I’m pretty sure their eyes glaze over when I discuss them. That said, they seem to like the idea of Animal Crossing as a franchise (and have from the start when I first researched and decided to buy the GCN game), and see it as neutral-to-positive that I play it. They also seem to take it for granted that of course I’ll buy any games in the series, even when I’m still busy debating whether to get them or not. (The same goes for Pok?mon and Mario games, and I do tend to be fairly heavily influenced by nostalgia.)

some of my friends and my mom play so i fangirl together with them. also my father had to hear a lot of stuff about new horizons so i suppose he's very annoyed. overall i'd say everyone has noticed and they're kind of annoyed

Most of my friends are 30 year old gamers as well, so about half of them are all getting hyped right along with me. I have recently been obsessing more and more about it though, which I have turned into amiibo card collecting, and they dont quite get it.

There is something about being an overworked adult and then sitting down to chill with a game l Iike AC that just hits the spot. Srangely enough, most of my adult friends get into AC more than any other games. There are actually two people I know finally getting a switch for it.
