How Many people have NOT Flattened/Reset their islands and/or have no intention of doing so?

Who here is keeping their OG island and doesn't plan on resetting it whatsoever?

I've been working on MY Island for more than a year at this point; THERE'S NO WAY I'd ever consider resetting my island; and undoing all the hard work I did to make My Island what it is now; not to mention; making it take even LONGER to get/re-obtain the 2.0 Update additions/perks than If I were to keep my island that I've had for more than a year at this point!

are there any other people on here who share my sentiments and/or Also have not reset their islands; and have no intentions of doing so?

I had my island since day one of release, but reset about three? weeks ago.

I hated my island. I would run around it for literal hours, around and around on the border of the whole map. It was completely flat and I didn’t know what to do.

Resetting was the BEST thing I could have done, I have a really cool idea that I love and I’m really glad I restarted.

I have no interest whatsoever in restarting my island. I've accomplished too much, paid off all my player characters' houses, filled up too much of the catalogue. If something happened to the save file then I would simply stop playing and probably sell the cartridge.

I'm not much for terraforming either and, if anything, the terraforming I am interested in doing is on the second and third tiers. Never once felt the desire to flatten the island.

I will never restart. Sometimes it's tempting, but then I think of all the work I'd have to do. The work I put into my New Leaf Town when the original cartridge died, and the work I put into my secondary town that kiiinda got abandoned. Whenever I think of all of that I can't help but feel a little queasy.

I love my townsfolk, I love my layout. Sure, I have done BIG overhauls before. Every tree on my island was placed there by my hand. I got rid of near every flower at one point. There's been MUCH outdoor AND indoor rearrangement, with me making the entire island completely seasonal (sticking with mostly a spooky theme year round with big splashes of whatever was in season since last Halloween).

My cliffs are mostly the same with some rework (I wish i had my original map handy ngl), and I deleted a whole river coming off of my left-hand cliff to make more room. Amazing idea ngl, needed that space.

My island simply will not be reset and thats that! And it definitely wouldn't be flattened. If I flatten it I'll have to reset purely do to not knowing what the absolute heck to do from there.

I voted "I am not" but in fact for me its "I have done it already"

Reset my island about a week before 2.0 came out.

Wasn't even a hard choice for me.

I had had my island since the day the game launched and I was tired of its layout.

I could have flattened it but I really hated my airport colour.

I have a second switch and on that island I made an island that was basically perfect for me.
So I knew how much better it felt to have an island with a map you love.
But it was locked to another user profile (so I could trade with myself)

So I couldn't play my second island as my new main island as it wasnt linked to my account.
And my main island had things about it only resetting could resolve.

I reset and... I got a map that is nearly identical to my second island. Only resident services is in a much better position! About 2 tiles off where I would have placed it if we could control that.

I am so glad I reset.
It was 100% the right choice for me.

I used to be pro flattening should you want changes.

Now I'm a firm believer that people should reset if they're not happy about parts of their island they can't change. Don't settle for anything other than perfect.
Because it could eat away at you as it did me.

(But if you're just bored of how things look but otherwise like your airport and resident services and stuff just flatten)

I'm keeping my island. I've had my island since release. It would be painful to start over again, considering all the time that I've dedicated to this save file. I am giving my island a makeover, but only a decorative one. I don't plan on "flattening" everything, but I may make some new creative themes and use the terraform feature again.

I'm with you on this. I've only started my island this year, so there's still plenty of things to do/collect for me. I'm also not much of a perfectionist when it comes to layout, native fruit etc, so I usually stick with one of the first options given (I'm probably one of the few people that actually like having RS close to the airport).
The "what if" has crossed my mind a couple of times, but I just can't. Not only because I've grown attached to my island and its inhabitants, but also because of all the work that's gone into it. I don't mind taking this game slow, but the early game is just such a boring grind, I'd hate having to do that again, even with time travel. Overall there's just no benefit in it at all for me.

I restarted once because I was really unsatisfied with some stuff on my first island : namely me flattening my island and my town's name. Don't regret it a single bit, but man getting back to where you were progress-wise was a bit of a pain. I understand why people do it, but I don't think i'd restart just for a huge ol' update I won't be able to immediately access like, 40% of the stuff of.

I would never restart my main island. I've had it since the game came out, and its too special for me to consider restarting or changing it. I've also only barely terraformed it. I mostly have the same map I started with.

I may restart my second island at some point, but I'm not sure. I'm attached to that island as well. I really like the beginning of the game before KK comes though, and wish I could play it over again.

I'm never resetting my island/redesigning it. Besides it taking too long to redo all that progress... I once reset my New Leaf town and was so unhappy with the new layout (I reset for 3 days and STILL never got the same one as my original, so settled for s similar but worse one) and missed my old villagers and QR patterns so much that I never played New Leaf again.

I'm afraid that if I ever reset or redid my NH island, I'd immediately feel miserable and lose interest.

I'm keeping my old island because I put a lot of work on it and it would be a waste if i reset it, and besides I'm already content with some of the villagers i have. I could flatten, but not reset everything if I did have the time

I have not flattened or reset my island and this would be the last thing I'd ever do. I came up with a plan in the very beginning for my island and I shall stick to it!

I decided I’m not going to be deleting or restarting my island. I really like my villagers and don’t hate my map so for me it would make more sense to just flatten it and rebuild rather than restart.

I think that would result in a huge waste of my time and resources too. I wouldn’t want to waste what I’ve gathered or burden friends with having to hold my items. The other thing is the nook miles and achievements would reset. I don’t want to grind and could never hope to amass all the items I donated to Blathers, adequate nook miles, bells, etc to restart an island and have it be nice quickly.

I’m planning on doing some big construction projects but keeping all my villagers and some elements the way they are!

I'm not at all trying to convince you to restart your island. But in new horizons you dont really have to worry about that stuff.

You can change most everything about your island layout compared to the completely static map of new leaf.

And getting villagers in this game is so much easier as well.

I remember the days of resettling to get the perfect new leaf town layout well. It's nothing like that thank god.

I flattened my island only one time but I don’t think I would do it again. I really enjoy the natural look and wouldn’t want to mess with it too much again.

I reset my island a couple of weeks before the direct came out because my previous island was already completed and there’s nothing to do there anymore. Also, I wanted to change the theme and wanted a new map so I reset my game. I’m happy now with my new island although I’ve held off decorating because I prefer to do that when I have more of the new items and new techniques from HHP so I can just go crazy decorating my own island when the time comes. :)

I thought about it but I decided to keep the same island and just change what I don't like as much. I didn't feel like starting over.

I reset once on release day and have had the same island since. At this point I think part of my connection with NH is my connection with this one island and the time I put into it, so I don't anticipate resetting.
