I've reset my game only once since I got it. I was looking for a specific villager at the campsite after I already passed them up once and they never showed up there again even after I went through the entire villager list. I also gifted several villagers really dorky stuff that I regretted. I felt it was better just to start over fresh and I'm not sorry I did. I got the same map and native fruit as my first game. Getting my 10 dreamies was a pain but it was worth it. I never want to go through it again though.
