I’m in the whenever it breaks, or becomes a security risk. It feels like upgrading a phone now is very little of an upgrade, so why not wait till it feels like you at least upgraded

I have my phone as long as possible. I really try to avoid getting a new one. I feel like it's not worth it to spend a lot of money on a newer version of a smartphone that is almost the same as the previous generation.

usually when it breaks or when i break it, been using my current phone since 2021.. the headjack on my previous phone eroded on the inside which is why i'm using this phone

I am happy with my phone so intend to keep for as long as possible. I have an iPhone XR that I got new. Just checked when and can’t believe it is 6 years now. The battery isn’t great now and has been frustrating losing charge after a few hours so I treated myself to a cute new battery pack.

I keep it as long as possibe, got recently new phone but haven't done anything with it yet lol

I feel like 5-6 years/whenever it breaks? My current phone is an iphone 11, but before that my previous phone was an iphone 6s iirc, so it was a pretty big upgrade in that sense. I tend to get the older models if I can just because they're cheaper + I don't see a need for the latest models. My iphone 11 is 3 or 4 years if I'm remembering that right, and I've had no plans to get a new one anytime soon unless it starts having issues or breaks.

Whenever it breaks. I try to keep my phone as long as I can. My phone right now has a weaken battery so I know I give it maybe another year or so but I've had it for 4 years now and it works well. I always get Androids because they seem to last longer imo.

every 1-2 years, but that's because my family's current postpaid plans come with free phones every few years, some loyalty promo thingy as long as you're subscribed idk. my mom's line of work also has her managing the cellphones they use at work so she pretty much gets to decide who gets the new phone/s. granted (1) the free phones are not new models, and (2) mom usually gives the new phone to either other family members or replaces the one at work, so what i get every 1-2 years is more often a hand-me-down.

i do plan on actually buying a new phone next year, something i've never really done before. the phone i got rn was free from the promo but it's like, pretty substandard. it can do bare minimum at least, but man the camera has gotten me in trouble at work esp since sometimes we're tasked to take pictures and my phone camera is just. really bad (by "in trouble" i mean multiple seniors keep telling me to retake the pictures and i tell them thats literally the best my phone can do, so i end up asking someone else to take the pics for me and just send em to me)

Every 3 to 4 years, roughly? Whenever mine gets particularly sluggish I start thinking about buying a new one.

Whenever it breaks or stops being serviced! I’ve had three phones over the past 10 years, the first I stopped using because it was old enough I got alerted that it wouldn’t be usable anymore, and my current phone I’ve had for about 6-7years now? But I’m thinking of swapping over soon as the battery issues are getting bad again (I’ve already replaced the batteries once)

unless there is a phone that releases that I really want and can’t wait to have, I’d only replace if it broke or if the battery starts to get bad. my current phone is the iPhone 14 Pro, before this I had an iPhone X so I’d say it could be anywhere from 5-6 years for me depending on the quality of the phone.

My last phone was an iPhone 5S before I finally got my iPhone 12 (a 7 year gap I think?).. I still miss my 5S honestly. I don't know when I will get a new phone, my current one works just fine though!

every instance that i’ve changed my phone was because either the battery no longer lasted or because it just couldn’t perform properly, i never felt the need to change it unless it was a last resort

I got my first phone senior year of high school and that was like 11 years ago LOL I was very reliant on my iPod touch

Since then, I've been through 4 phones, currently on my 5th

I use my phone for around 4 to 5 years before I consider buying a new one. The main culprit for this is usually the battery.
