The My Nintendo rewards have been updated for May! The discounts are all different, and I think a few things may have been removed, other than that, I haven't noticed anything else new.

The discounts are nice and everything, but I was hoping for more game offers you could get with Platinum/Miitomo coins.

For those who are too lazy to check My Nintendo rewards page, here's the list of the recently added discounts:

North America

  • 15% off Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - 600 Platinum points
  • 15% off Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 300 Platinum points
  • 15% off Pikmin 3 - 300 Platinum points
  • 15% off Dr. Luigi - 230 Platinum points
  • 15% off Mini Mario: Minis on the Move - 150 Platinum points
  • 30% off Triforce Heroes - 100 Gold points
  • 30% off Tomodachi Life - 80 Gold points
  • 30% off Wonderful 101 - 70 Gold points
  • 30% off DKC Tropical Freeze - 50 Gold points
  • 30% off Metroid Prime Trilogy - 50 Gold points

Europe

  • 10% off Fire Emblem Fates - 20 Gold points
  • 20% off Captain Toad - 600 Platinum points
  • 40% off Captain Toad - 100 Gold points
  • 20% off Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 600 Platinum points

While there's no denying that the North America lineup there is pretty solid, I already all of those games but Mini Mario: Minis on the Move. I might consider getting the latter near the end of June, since I believe I might enjoy this one and I could bag 20 Gold Points just by spending around $12 CAD with the discount (which would be at $14.09 CAD otherwise).

European's newly added discounts are pretty slim, but I can see why they would appeal to some people. Since it's easy for someone to get 20 Gold Points, Fire Emblem Fates discount seems to be an interesting choice.

Ugh, I practically own all those games for North America. I signed up for My Nintendo thinking it would a lot better than what I went through with Club Nintendo in the latter years. Now I wish I never bothered. All I want is physical rewards again, not this digital crap.

Bill Trinen from Nintendo of America has mentioned during a recent interview with IGN that My Nintendo doesn't reward physical purchases just yet. They might eventually offer anything else than digital rewards as well.

Initially, the focus is going to be on digital, but we do have a lot of ideas for what roll out down the road for packaged goods or real world interactions. I think we’ll continue to look at My Nintendo and how we can grow that as a rewards program, so that it really is trying to encompass all the different touch points of how people come into contact with Nintendo products.

Here's hoping we have actual games planned in the future for Platinum points. It's nice that they offer discounts, but even with a 99% discount I still have $0 to spend.

I also hope they offer rewards for physical because I hate digital games. I've never gotten anything digital, I've always had case in hand when I pick up a game. With digital I feel like I don't actually own it.
