Nintendo has revealed the Nintendo Switch 2

Their problem with the Wii U was naming it the Wii U and advertising mostly the controller and less the console itself. Slapping a 2 at the end worked great for the ps2.... and ps3 and 4 and 5. Just an anecdote but my family could never grasp that a 3ds wasn't just a ds but with a 3d screen, or that the xbox one was newer than the 360. Never had any issues with discerning that the ps4 game they seen wouldn't work on the ps3 or vice versa.

At the end of the day most people with consoles, especially Nintendo consoles, are families and children. And although something like Super Nintendo Switch will always be an awesome name, realistically speaking Switch 2 communicates what it is x10 better to grown ups and children simply will not care.
The problem with Super Nintendo will only really bring nostalgia to people in my age group.
I think naming it 2 shows the switch is a current like ps1-5. Just my opinion.

have to say i was also majorly underwhelmed. the only thing that interested me even a little was the brief MK9 gameplay, because i've been waiting forever for a new mario kart, but even then, it didn't really look any different from MK8. it's certainly going to take seeing/hearing more about what sets it apart to entice me to buy. everything else was kind of... meh. i remember seeing the leak about the joycons functioning like a mouse, and it didn't really interest me -- it's probably a functionality i'd try to avoid using lol. idk it just felt like a LOT of padding to show off a design that doesn't really look much different from the pre-existing console. i thought the direct about it was set for the start of next month until i realized i was watching a nintendo of america video, and it's actually april rip which seems insanely far away considering all the leaks etc. especially.
This!! a thousand times!!! Like literally down to thinking the direct was gonna be in february lol.
I'm still extremely excited but I recently watched the switch 1 trailer and it is nowhere like the switch 2's. We got to see a lot more games, so I'm kinda disappointed with what they gave us today. I have been waiting for a new mario kart game even before the DLC for MK8DX came out (which I was really mad about), so of course I wanna see more of that!
I literally cannot wait, but the leaks talking about a march/april release got me fooled I gotta admit lol.

I'm so underwhelmed over it. Maybe it will change when there's something I want to play shows up on it (which I know will, but still. 🤷🏽‍♀️)
i feel like this shouldve been released about 1 year after switch as a switch slim, or switch xl.

Honestly I don't blame you for those feelings. I think that if you have no interest in Nintendo's IPs, you may as well hold off on buying the Switch 2. Those games are the only reason to buy a Nintendo console anyway since their hardware sucks major butt lol. I wish I wasn't interested in Nintendo IPs so I wasn't trapped dealing with them as a company being behind in like... everything haha.
maybe ill hack my 1st gen switch and grab the games and own them for real :D

I mean just from the pictures provided it looks pretty cool. For now though I won't be getting it as there is only one game coming out that I want for the switch.

I also like the black colour and less of the red and blue. That's mostly cause black is my favourite colour/shade.

In terms of marketability I think they made the right move with the Switch 2. I do hope for a Lite version purely because it is so much more comfortable to hold!

Whether or not I pick up at launch will be entirely based on launch titles.

i think nintendo has dropped the ball. Money making schemes, drip feed;(which is a play on term for morphine in hospitals for addicts). Flimsy hardware and I was caught by drifting controllers. I finally got a 3rd party controller plug in for portable and has handles which made it really nice to play.

Shovel ware, I lost track of cool games that came out cause you have to be there to know it exists and then itl get buried under IOS/android level quality games.

Warning guys, our trust has been taken advantage of. New mario kart looks cool tho. NOT worth it

given that they announced last may that we would be getting an announcement within the fiscal year, for some reason i thought that we would see it fully revealed before april. maybe it's just the curiosity that's making that feel so far away, but considering the abundance of leaks in the last month especially, i would've thought they'd show more or have the direct be a little sooner. (then again, it's not like the leaks made this announcement come any faster.) maybe having it right at the start of the next fiscal year is deliberate for investors or something. (idk anything about finances lol.) i'm intrigued but not necessarily all that excited at the moment. MK9 does more for me than the console itself, but even the footage of that is so compressed that i can't tell whether or not i vibe with the slight art-style change asdfghjkl. the likelihood of 24 player races does have me 👀👀👀 though!

you're thinking of the gameboy advance sp, but also, the color was a different console with its own lineup of exclusives. otherwise, I wouldn't have brought it up

(and hey, on that subject, the dsi and new 3ds kind of fall into this camp too)
Yeah I knew the color was a different system compared to the gameboy. I just meant I wasn't sure if the color sp was like the New Nintendo 3DS that had a few games only compatible to it. I didn't realize it was actually the Gameboy Advance SP. I got them mixed up, sorry!

Well, we weren’t going to get one but we’ve been talking about it a little today. Would definitely wait 6 months to a year though, because we both always fear “initial bugs” with new releases of stuff like this. The trailer looked really good and I like some of the things they’ve addressed, such as a dust guard for joycon drift.

So I just saw this and audibly said "ok-" and then saw Mario Kart 9 and OAKFJALDNFNGURN. Cute! Daisy Circuit NEEDS to come back!

Other than that, April 2nd will tell us alot of exciting things, I think everyone knows I am not a huge Switch fan despite owning far too many games- but hopefully this will be different and they can stop rehashing expensive ports.

Switch 2 looks good!

Glad to see backwards compatibility is confirmed.

Would like to know more about what games are coming out around the launch!

i felt that way too about new mario kart. Looks pretty rad

You can already presume Mario Kart 9 will be a launch title. Would that do it?

Then, if rumours are to be believed, 3rd parties will show up with better support than for the OG Switch.

Finally, we can reasonably expect Nintendo supporting their new console with new releases every 2-3 months, just like they did for the OG Switch in 2017.

I knew they weren't going to change much, but this is disappointing to say the least
Nothing even remotely different to make it its own design…. It looks lazy to me.

I really hope they don't take away special edition coloured joystick releases like they done with the New Horizon console set

So the leakers weren't lying after all, and I assumed that today would just be another normal day for us Switch fans (Which I would have been okay with)

So on how the Switch 2 looks, it's not bad, but one thing that worries me is the kickstand. I'm afraid the way it was designed means it would snap off at any moment with only tape placing it back together.

Other than the Switch itself, the new Mario Kart game (I refuse to call it Mario Kart 9) looks insanely good. With the Karts, the new race track, to the redesigns of the characters (DK looks questionable) it's a breath of fresh air.
The fact we haven't gotten a true new Mario Kart title in a decade and a year, we surely hope this newest title in the franchise is the best one yet with supposedly new features and gimmicks.
Speaking of new features, it seems that we got 24 races as an option. (Or a permanent feature) Seems that Nintendo has been keeping notes with the mods featured by fans in Mario Kart Wii, that's a nice touch.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that Rosalina's new vehicle looks completely different to the other vehicle types seen in 8 Deluxe. What looks to be a snowmobile may in fact be one of the new types of vehicles you can choose from in the new Mario Kart Game.

Only 24 characters have been revealed so far, but I'm sure more will be revealed later. My guess is that all 48 racers from 8 Deluxe will be brought back in the new Mario Kart Game, including the Crossover characters if possible. (Praying that Male Villager returns)

My guess for the title? Probably Mario Kart Maximum Overdrive. I mean, it would make sense if they choose to add almost everything in this game, and the possible reason why the game took this long to get revealed. But if that's a mouthful. Then just Mario Kart Maximum would do.

I agree with the name it shows switch is Nintendo finally ending with the switch as it’s flag ship console like PlayStation for Sony with just 1-5 numbers.

And yeah I’m a hand held only player so I hope they make a lite. But I’m going to buy as soon as what ever model is out anyway lol I’m gonna start getting ready to sell my steam deck to save the funds I hardly play it anyway

I think it looks okay. I didn't fell the same way I felt when I watched the original Switch release video. While I'll admit it might be a cool console it just doesn't seem nearly as innovative as the Wii or Switch 1 did.

None of the announced titles as of now spark my interest except for MK 9 but I'm not going to buy a console just to play Mario Kart.
The stand looks a lot more sturdy than Switch 1. Hopefully they've fixed joycon drift.
I might consider a purchase but only if/when they announce a new Animal Crossing or if some other titles seem interesting.

I wonder if we'll ever get another non-portable console again, something reminiscent of the Wii.

I hope not I don’t care for being tethered to a tv screen I like portable. That’s why the switch is great it caters to both and is a proper console and proper hand held at the same time

Nintendo has revealed Yoshi Diner

I think those look like Wonder Seeds and Nintendo could use these as the main MK9 gimmick ?
