pet peeves / lil stuff you cant stand

I don't like when someone needs to ask me something but goes through someone else to do it.

If my contact information is available I'd rather just be spoken with directly. Rather than getting another family member to ask me the question you needed.

In some situations it's fine.

But if you have both me and my mother as contacts and you text her to ask me something, urk.

When people aren't direct with me in general.

---

this is kinda dumb, but I hate when people go into a roundabout and turn on their turn signal. like, you don't need to do that my dude lol, just drive into the roundabout and go wherever you're going.

speaking of roundabouts, I also hate when people stop before entering a roundabout even if no one is coming. like they don't know how a yield sign works lol.

one more thing, and I've had this happen multiple times since my path to work includes quite a few of these. when I'm in a roundabout and I have the right of way, and someone almost runs into me because they didn't yield!! just decided to keep on driving like I don't even exist.

like, people, please learn how to use a roundabout properly, thank you 😂

I have... only one thing to say to this.

I feel bad for the guy at the Texas vs. Georgia football game who went viral for his “appearance”. (Honestly, he just has really thick hair. Pretty typical in my family.) He was just watching the game— not drawing attention to himself or anything. This is straight-up bullying.

It’s fine if public places have cameras, but I don’t like people filming others without their consent and posting it for the world to see— especially if they’re making fun of them.

I feel “the writer’s barely disguised fetish” meme goes too far at times. Yes, it definitely applies in some situations, but sometimes people want to depict something serious, and it’s insensitive in that regard.

When a childfree person by choice craps on anybody who wants and/or has kids of their own and kids in general. It's like okay, we get it! You don't wanna get pregnant or have kids! You don't have to be a dick about it! 🙄
This! I love babies and little kids, but I don’t know if I’m able to have them. I wouldn’t want people to criticize my choices, so I won’t criticize theirs.

Push notifications. I don't mind seeing notifications when I log, say, into a forum like here, or into Pixiv/another site, but push notifications on the phone or the laptop? They stress me the hell out. Bonus if they have a little sound attached to it. This is why my Discord/Telegram notifications are always turned off and my phone is on DND unless I'm waiting on a call.

Also, in the same vein, good morning messages aside from romantic interests. I just like to be left alone while I emerge from sleep and I tend to feel pressured to reply.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm starting to get really sick and tired of hearing the word, "unalive" in youtube videos. I get that youtubers are trying to avoid getting demonetized, but I just can't stand the word, "unalive" when it's being used in place of words like "dead" for example. I don't mind it when other words are used instead, but "unalive" just sounds so weird and off-putting.

Especially in serious videos, it just completely ruins the tone because unalive sounds so goofy lol.

"We were the last to play outside"

No, we are not. Please stop with the egotistical ignorance.
I am so sick of people my age or older (even younger than me) saying this. This is so far from the truth and I'm pretty sure they know that, just want to feel special.

In my neighborhood, the kids are almost always outside playing. We have a playground and it's usually occupied with them. They're either running around, throwing a football around or playing at the playground.

It's suuuuper annoying. We all know what the word is, just say it already.

People who shove adoption down infertile couple's throats when it comes to pregnancy loss and infertility in general. Whenever a couple is having a hard time ttc and/or has a miscarriage and/or stillbirth, they'll be told to "just adopt" or how they're "so selfish for not wanting to adopt". Adoption is incredibly expensive and it can be a long process. Plus, not every couple wants to adopt children. You're not a terrible person for not wanting to adopt and have your own biological children. I swear, people like to treat adoption as if it's like shopping at Walmart and throwing items in a cart.

The stupid stupid stupid youtube thing that shows the comment jumping from one to another so you have to scroll down to avoid it or watch it full screen (I usually prefer half screen) and when you scroll down you just get shorts and more vids to distract you. It’s all one big distraction and they won’t change it because that’s the whole point. It’s especially obnoxious when you just want to watch the video without clicking it and you watch it long enough and THOSE STUPID SCROLLING COMMENTS!!!!! UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

When it comes to gender reveal parties, some people would outright throw a goddamn temper tantrum over the baby's gender just because the baby's gender wasn't what they expected, especially in cases when it comes to parents or siblings who react to expecting a baby that's the opposite gender of them or vice versa. Like, holy crap it's not the end of the world! Just be glad you're expecting a baby soon!

Gender reveal parties in general are stupid to me lol. Like what does everyone talk about? Its private bits? Why not just share it at the baby shower? Kill two birds with one stone?

I remember one YouTube comedian’s joke, “This is whiter than a gender reveal at Cracker Barrel.” 😂 Unfortunately, it wouldn’t surprise me if those happened.

One of my favorite YouTubers just defended the tradwife movement. For those who don’t know, you might have come across their videos online— they’re young, mostly white ladies in retro clothing, baking bread and meal prepping. But it’s not like how most women are homemakers; they are usually very religious and claim that women should submit to their husbands, enforcing traditional gender roles. They believe this is a woman’s ultimate goal in life, rather than working or getting an education. (Although people can do what they want, this type of life has no plan B.)

Some TEA. ☕️ So she usually posts a new video on Saturdays. This new video randomly pops up on my subscriptions so I listened to it while working.
As I said, she defends the tradwife movement. I am a bit confused about this— she calls it “self-care” and it’s good these ladies are using as a “business.” Maybe she doesn’t get that this came from the far-right religious fundie world since she’s Canadian? Then she says if women want to stay home or work it’s fine— all while criticizing modern feminists. (Ironically, the freedom to choose your lifestyle is a feminist idea in itself.)

Also a lot of these tradwife pages think ALL women should be religious and submit to their husbands. They won’t “live and let live.” It’s also hypocritical that the tradwives say women shouldn’t work and then make a bunch of money off their videos.

One of the pages she posted in there had a Trump 2024 thing in the profile so is this her way of hinting she’s conservatve? Even though she’s Canadian and can’t vote for him— and right after the election.

Yikes, girl. Can’t wait to read the comments.
