One of my favorite YouTubers just defended the tradwife movement. For those who don’t know, you might have come across their videos online— they’re young, mostly white ladies in retro clothing, baking bread and meal prepping. But it’s not like how most women are homemakers; they are usually very religious and claim that women should submit to their husbands, enforcing traditional gender roles. They believe this is a woman’s ultimate goal in life, rather than working or getting an education. (Although people can do what they want, this type of life has no plan B.)
Some TEA.
️ So she usually posts a new video on Saturdays. This new video randomly pops up on my subscriptions so I listened to it while working.
As I said, she defends the tradwife movement. I am a bit confused about this— she calls it “self-care” and it’s good these ladies are using as a “business.” Maybe she doesn’t get that this came from the far-right religious fundie world since she’s Canadian? Then she says if women want to stay home or work it’s fine— all while criticizing modern feminists. (Ironically, the freedom to choose your lifestyle is a feminist idea in itself.)
Also a lot of these tradwife pages think ALL women should be religious and submit to their husbands. They won’t “live and let live.” It’s also hypocritical that the tradwives say women shouldn’t work and then make a bunch of money off their videos.
One of the pages she posted in there had a Trump 2024 thing in the profile so is this her way of hinting she’s conservatve? Even though she’s Canadian and can’t vote for him— and right after the election.
Yikes, girl. Can’t wait to read the comments.
