pet peeves / lil stuff you cant stand

Gender reveal parties in general are stupid to me lol. Like what does everyone talk about? Its private bits? Why not just share it at the baby shower? Kill two birds with one stone?
The person who invented gender reveal parties regrets inventing them.

When people announce “I’m unfollowing” in the comments or complain about someone’s content: “too many nature photos”, etc.

Like…it’s not YOUR page. You can just leave and not say anything. When OPI nail polish announced their Pride collection on Instagram, a bunch of Karens were commenting stuff like, “Now you’ll NEVER see a dime from me!” Umm…OPI must have thought, Oooh, I’m sooooo scared some random lady stopped buying my nail polish because we support LGBT rights.🙄

Also, some older conservative ladies who follow famous gay male celebrities act all shocked when the guys have liberal views. What did you expect, Nancy from Ohio? Some of these guys are famous drag queens, they get called “groomers” by other conservatives…did you really think they would be MAGA? The lack of awareness is appalling.

One of my favorite YouTubers just defended the tradwife movement. For those who don’t know, you might have come across their videos online— they’re young, mostly white ladies in retro clothing, baking bread and meal prepping. But it’s not like how most women are homemakers; they are usually very religious and claim that women should submit to their husbands, enforcing traditional gender roles. They believe this is a woman’s ultimate goal in life, rather than working or getting an education. (Although people can do what they want, this type of life has no plan B.)

Some TEA. ☕️ So she usually posts a new video on Saturdays. This new video randomly pops up on my subscriptions so I listened to it while working.
As I said, she defends the tradwife movement. I am a bit confused about this— she calls it “self-care” and it’s good these ladies are using as a “business.” Maybe she doesn’t get that this came from the far-right religious fundie world since she’s Canadian? Then she says if women want to stay home or work it’s fine— all while criticizing modern feminists. (Ironically, the freedom to choose your lifestyle is a feminist idea in itself.)

Also a lot of these tradwife pages think ALL women should be religious and submit to their husbands. They won’t “live and let live.” It’s also hypocritical that the tradwives say women shouldn’t work and then make a bunch of money off their videos.

One of the pages she posted in there had a Trump 2024 thing in the profile so is this her way of hinting she’s conservatve? Even though she’s Canadian and can’t vote for him— and right after the election.

Yikes, girl. Can’t wait to read the comments.
Okay. Some of the comments were agreeing, but most were expressing my similar concerns. She is doing some backpedaling in the replies.

Anyway, I checked who she follows on Instagram and she is definitely conservative. I am disappointed but not surprised. I love her channel for the vintage fashion and Old Hollywood stuff, but this?? I’m torn.

Some people announced on a body-positive Instagrammer's page that they're unfollowing her for being feminist and expressing disappointment in the election. I didn't know conservatives were into body positivity, but OK. Like...what were you expecting?

Sometimes TBT makes me forget how bad the gotcha culture of the rest of the internet can be. like man sometimes I set one foot out of this site and it's just a "I like pancakes"/"oh so you hate waffles?"/"hey OP just wanted to let you know my grandpa choked on a pancake : )" hellscape out there orz

and I've always been one to prefer enjoying fiction myself/with friends over larger fandom spaces, so it's wild whenever I walk into a pancakes-waffles fandom discussion like
"man I love Darth Vader. I think Darth Vader is super cool"
"glad to know you think it's okay to Force-choke subordinates for incompetence! I hope no one ever has to work for you 💕"
like ?????????

This is why you're just better off being a lurker on most mainstream social media like me lol, there's really no point trying to reason or talk to strangers on the internet cause it never ends well.

Right?? Like nothing you say is the right answer. You're always wrong somehow.

I remember commenting about how I like x and I'd get responses like "I deleted that app. It was boring." Like cool dude, I didn't ask lmao.

The amount of hate that beginner artists receive on the internet is really sad. People would outright bully and shame beginner artists simply for, well, being beginners.

Not a single artist came out of their mother's womb as a good artist. Art, like many other things, takes time and practice to get better at.

It's almost as if your art skills have to be a certain level in order to post your art online or something, which sounds extremely gatekeepy.

I have to agree with the above. I mentioned on a YouTube comment that a 7-Eleven I used to work at got robbed on my shift and the person was armed. I had to run for my life. Someone replied to my comment saying that I likely deserved it because bad things don’t happen to good people??

This is why I don’t comment on YouTube that much, or any social media for that matter.

This is why I never want to post my art on social media like Twitter or TikTok or wherever.
I also noticed they also have a very weird visceral hatred twoards beginner artists with super cartoony artstyles, like if it's not anime or realistic it's automatically bad art to them.

Istg it's like whenever I put certain tags on a blacklist, if I'm searching things up expecting for said tags to not be shown, some of those things STILL wind up showing up untagged! This is especially annoying when it comes to searching up fanfics online. Ugh! 🙄

I saw a kid, no more than ten years old, walking around with a shirt that said “**** Kamala Harris” on it.

I’m all for freedom of expression, but I’m pretty sure that kid had no idea what he was wearing. His parents wearing MAGA hats told me everything I needed to know.

All in all, I hate how parents dress their kids in political statements.

Whenever articles say a pregnant female celebrity is “showing off” her baby bump. Like…yeah, those things are gonna stick out. Where else is it supposed to go?

Social media brings the worst out of people. There's a reason for all of the negativity. The people in charge know what they are doing. The algorithm is set up so that anything negative or hateful trends the most. How many times have you ever noticed something positive or wholesome trending? That doesn't usually spark a lot of discussion. Hate begets hate. It rubs off on dumb people and dumb people are impressionable. So they join the hateful mass and add to the never-ending cycle of hatred.

I don't even bother checking on Twitter anymore. If my friends over there can't leave, than that's on them. Every time I log on it's always pushing stuff that I don't want to see on my main feed because Elon wants to push that agenda.
