pet peeves / lil stuff you cant stand

Spotify is annoying anyway, I've never used it before and I don't intend to ever use it. Ads don't really bother me that much, and even if they did, various adblockers exist. I'll continue using YT until the day it's no longer usable (or there's a better alternative), lol.

I suppose it does depend on each person and how they feel about it.

I had YouTube premium for a little while. I felt the difference from being able to click and skip around on any video without ever seeing any ads or interruptions.

Some will notice and others won't. I like having a music app for lengthy car rides and walks. I can shut my phone off and let it play. The ad free YouTube is a nice bonus.

Either way, I lost love for Spotify today. I don't see myself ever returning.

I miss dad bods and thicc women in media. 😭 Not to get controversial, but it is hypocritical how the media claims to be diverse and then promotes people with the same face and body type.

The permanent daylight savings time vs permanent standard time argument. I know a lot of people hate clock switching every year (me included), but seeing the intensity of arguments for which to switch to is a bit crazy.

I prefer standard time way more, as that's just more natural to me. Plus perma-dst was tried in the 70s, was a nope. But I'm not gonna be mean to someone who wants permanent dst. It's just a bit annoying to see such intensity and aggression over an hour. 🙄

But if dst does become permanent, I'm not waking up in the winter until around 9am.😂

Personally speaking, I don't care which one we switch to, I just want us to switch to one and STICK WITH IT. There is perhaps nothing I hate more in this world than the time randomly changing by an hour twice throughout the year. I want the time to be the same the entire year, regardless of whether there's light out or not. DST is so outdated anyway and was originally introduced during military times. So sick of the inability of the government to make this change, but given that the government is the way it is, it's not surprising.

When people say misogynistic or misandristic things and play it off as a joke. Like no, women shouldn't have to do everything you say just because you're a man and no, men aren't "simps" (idk if I'm using that correctly) if they're polite to women or just genuinely nice people.

Waiting for the bus for a long time on your side only for the one on the opposite side to always arrive first. It's like a big **** you and it aggravates me every time.

I don't think anything gets under my skin more than the 'vaccines cause autism' crowd.

1. It's illogical

2. Even if true, it's nice to know you would rather have your child potentially get polio or even die than get a vaccine and risk them becoming autistic.

It also indirectly spreads harmful rhetoric to those who do have autism. As if it's some kind of monstrous disease. It's also selfish to children who are placed at risk when denied access to prevention of illnesses that could kill them.

'Vaccines cause autism'

Me: "Okay" *gets vaccine because I already have autism*

This is just me being goofy I 100% agree with you

It would be nice if they would just stick with one and be done with it. It's so stupid because (I can't be bothered to find the actual article) but some senator showed up in like a sweater or sweat pants or something? And the next day a bunch of grumpy old fogey senators changed the rule that attire like that wasn't appropriate and could not be done. Imagine if they actually passed useful laws/stuff that quickly? It was during the government shutdown from I can't remember what year? Because neither side could agree on anything, but hey at least they can tell us what appropriate attire to wear. What a joke lol.

When older people explain older technology like VHS and stuff to younger people but feel the need to be really annoying about it. Like yeah I didn't grow up with it really but you don't have to act like I'm a moron just because I'm young, I have Google and I can easily look it up lol. It just comes off as really pretentious and annoying to me when older people pull that crap just to feel more important when in reality nobody will give a **** about what you grew up with in the next 10 to 20 years so stop acting like a dick about it lol.

As someone who have used a VCR (and learned how to record with it at a young age) and some others.

Don't worry about those kinds of people. Really, don't spend your time worrying about people who latch onto a rose tinted past (most of the time, they were no older than 11/12 years old). It's not worth it.

But yeah, as we grow up. Lots of people after us are not going to give a single care about what we've done back then. Because it's outdated or useless for whatever may come up next.

Thank you for that, I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand those kind of people.

It also annoys me cause despite me being 16 I love learning about old outdated technology from the 1980s-2000s all the time, cause I just find it really interesting. I grew up watching a lot of game reveiwers on YouTube and it got me intrested in learning about old games and tech, but whenever older people constantly act like an ******* cause they grew up with it or because younger people didn't, it just really bothers me a lot.

Just ignore those knuckleheads, lol.

Laughing so hard at this because - as an older person who used all the old tech as it came out (and remembers how crappy some of it was), I don't remember how to even set it all up, much less how a lot of it worked! 😂

No joke. We have a vhs player now (long story), but whenever it needs work or to be set up with a new tv or whatever - it's one of my kids who handles it. I'm completely clueless with tech - be it from the 70s, 80s, or today. My kids are better at figuring it all out. (And i really wish we could throw the vhs out.)

Looking back is fun for nostalgia, but that's about it. I like looking forward, and today's stuff is so much more (better) useful. If I'm gonna brag about something, it's gonna be something from today, and something everyone else probably already knew how to do. (Like discovering layers in an art app. Ha.)

I grew up with VHS so for me, it's usually people laughing at me for not knowing how to use records and the different names for each different kind.

Wouldn't this be a good time to show me with excitement about what you grew up with? Share your love for it all with me? But nah, it's better to prove to me how much better you are than I am.

In your example, I'd have loved to chat with you all about VHS's and older technology and showed you my nostalgic love for my childhood! I'd never think to laugh at you for it. Eventually streaming will be old news and people will be all like "omg remember streaming from netflix?? Throwback!" It all comes and goes with new stuff in the horizon.
