Pokémon Pokemon General

Didn't know you could be promoted to General in these games. That's awesome, leading cute chibi animals into battle.

I decided to participate in ranked battles again in Sword/Shield since they've updated the rules since the last time I played. It's funny how people are hellbent on throwing legendary Pokemon into their team to try and force the win. I took out someone who was using as many legends as possible, including a Kyogre, using literally just Dragapult, Haxorus, and Garchomp. And in another battle I got set up on my Naganadel with boosted special attack and speed, and used Flamethrower against someone's Zacian (which they probably weren't expecting), and fried them like some BBQ ribs on a hot summer day.

So far I'm at six wins and three losses, which is the same ratio I started out with the last time I did Sw/Sh ranked battles. I'll probably play more before July ends and try to achieve an even higher tier than the one I previously reached.

This will also probably be one of the last times I play Sword/Shield before Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet release (still need to finish my Steel-type legendary/mythic playthrough on Pokemon Shield as well).

I am thinking of buying either Sword/shield or Arceus and i am not sure which out to go for  or i guess i could wait for the new one coming but that is such a long way still. What do you guys recommend me ?

Sword or shield! Definitely one of them. They’re really good games! :D

Arceus is difficult in my opinion.

Both Sword and Shield are solid games. It all comes down to version exclusives if prefer one mon over the other. Legends Arceus is very different from previous games. Its a different experience and there are different game mechanics but at least you'll be able to get every pokemon in the game without trading. If you're still considering to buy either Scarlet or Violet I would suggest to play either Sword or Shield first.

Arceus is very different to previous games, but honestly? I love it, and would highly recommend it. I've poured more hours into Arceus than I have Sword, even though I've had Sword for over a year longer.

If you enjoy the regular gameplay, then go for Sword/Shield. But if you're a bit tired of the format, or simply want to catch more Pokémon (with less emphasis on battling), then go for Arceus.

I would suggest Arceus. When it comes to catching pokémon, you have so much more variety in species, time of day, and environment. Sword and Shield’s wild area and its real-time cycles pale in comparison to Hisui and its much quicker day/night cycle (although the sunsets are beautiful in Galar).
Plus, you can see shinies in the overworld, and you don’t have much of a strict path to follow. The biggest downside of Legends Arceus is that has no online battle system though.

i have read all your suggestions and i am highly appreciative, but i am still highly doubtful hahahah ( perks of an incisive person ) what i might do and if i am still good in cash and in the mood to still play pokemon i might get the Oled nintendo with the new game ( i know I know kinda pricey ) but I bought my switch for ACNH and this way i could have 2 islands <3 and i think the new versions of pokemon starting from Arceus would be more fun to play in console rather than hand. What you guys think? 😅

I think you making a mistake by getting Arceus

no , no, my new plan is to wait for the new one to come out and get the game with the oled switch, because i think the new games coming now starting from Arceus and continuing with the one coming soon profit a lot about console gaming rather than han-hold gaming. I bought when COVID started the switch lite but it slowly heats up and makes my hands sweaty :( and i also think with the new catching system using the joy cons separately from console could be more fun

I honestly can’t say ‘cause I amost never use the joycons seperately (although I do plan on hooking up my switch to the tv soon and trying it out like that). Sorry!

well let me know what you think about it when you do. I mean for Arceus and the new Pokemon game coming i think playing with the joy cons separately might be more natural and comfortable since you need to through poke balls, I just thought it would make the game bit more enjoyable

I played through Arceus almost exclusively on the console, although I used a Pro Controller rather than the joycons. Perhaps due to the bigger screen, I found it easier to locate whatever I was looking for on a proper screen rather than the handheld version.

I think I used the joycons a couple of times, but mine have drifting issues now, so I can't answer fully with this one!

There is a 99% chance there is a new SV trailer or Presents next week and it feels like the days are going by so slow. Any day now we’ll get that announcement.

I'm planning on trying to complete my Pokedex in Pokemon Sword, never completed a Pokedex in any of the games before, came very close to it in Let's Go Pikachu
