Pokémon Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield General Discussion

11 days AFTER game releases:
"Starter evolutions revealed!!"

k then lol

Am I the only one here who is not a huge fan of Eternatus? The design of this Pokemon is so weird, does it even have a face? And it's Dynamax/Gigantamax (not sure which one it is) form is even weirder, like it's just a mess for me, reminds me more of a Ultra Beast since they also had all such bizarre designs.

Just finished the entire story of the game. Now I am interested in doing online raid battles and having a hard time doing raids with anyone online in my first half hour of trying. I just want to make sure I understand the process.

You can either:
1. Search your wild area for red beams of light, and initiate a raid by making sure you're online and then clicking start. You then wait for people to join your raid, which can take some time, OR
2. You can use the stamp searcher and find open raid requests and try to join them.

With #1, does the game ensure that several people get the same Pokemon in their wild area, and that's how matchups happen?

With #2, it seems most people are impatient and quit trying to match fairly quickly, because I keep getting an error about no communication partner being present.

This is frustrating, because things like surprise trade work great and match in less than a minute. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything about how to join raid battles with real people online.

Edit: I discovered watching someone on YouTube that you can throw wishing pieces into the dens to attract Pokemon. Good to know.

Was that supposed to be the space chicken?

What do you think of that exploit online users are doing to farm for Watts or find rare Pok?mon? Where they approach a den, invite others, change the console’s time, then go back into the game? I admit that I have done this before, but I only did it because I was trying to get rid of the gigantamaxed Pok?mon I find frustrating to battle (especially Drednaw and Sandaconda). I don’t do it for personal gain. I also don’t like if the same Pok?mon shows up the next day or when the AI allies in Max Raid Battles use status moves when the opposing Pok?mon has its shield up. Or when the allies flinch when the opposing Pok?mon has its shield up. One of them flinched three times in a row, so when my Pok?mon shrunk down, I attacked that ally, causing it to faint, because it flinched three times.

I find the exploit frustrating because I will find a stamp where someone is looking to do a raid, enter it, and then they will leave. I can only assume they are utilizing the exploit and this is what results in these stamps. I initially assumed this only occurred because people weren't interested in the Pokemon, but then I discovered that simply exiting the screen does not generate a stamp. Only starting the search for other trainers generates a stamp. It would be nice if it got patched and once you're online the server time is considered authoritative, not the console's.

At the same time, they should also introduce items that can scare away Gigantamax Pok?mon in case if you find battling them frustrating. I’m also tired of AI battlers using status moves instead of helping us take down the barrier, dynamax Pok?mon making three moves per turn, and getting blown out of the den after just four losses. Exploiting the glitch to avoid that is understandable, but doing it to get unlimited Watts or to play the lottery multiple times in one day is inexcusable.

I completely agree with that. An opposite item of the wishing piece would be much appreciated. I would be okay with a cool down (that is server-controlled) to rate limit people playing the lottery if that is what they desire.

Are the gigantamax Pokemon limited to just one? Can I catch multiple gigantamax butterfree/Drednaw and Snorlax when it’s released?

And when do fairy dens start showing up? My soon-to-be Rapidash needs play rough

I have a question - if anyone can help i'd appreciate it!

I was told that applin's evolution is not only limited by the item it gets, but also the game it's in. (Ex. If I am playing sword, even if someone traded me a sweet apple which I then used on my applin it wouldn't work). However, if I traded someone with shield an applin originally from sword, would they be able to evolve it into appletun in their game? Or is it locked as a flapple forever bc of it's origins?

I wanted to hunt for a shiny applin to evolve into appletun but I'm not sure if it's possible since I have sword haha. Hope this made sense

just finished the main story (took my time haha) wanna start looking for HA pkmn now but have some questions hoping some1 can answer:

-does any pok?mon that appears in a den have a possibility of possessing their hidden ability or is it only ones you summon with wishing pieces or whatever? (still havent tried that yet)

-can you reset for abilities? like, if you save in front of a den before you battle the pok?mon can you just close the game and battle it again for another chance at it having its HA?

-do you need to invite others or can you find HA pkmn with the NPC trainers?

-is a "max raid battle" different from a raid battle or is that just another term for it lol can't seem to find clear answers to any of these q's on the internet at the moment.

Just got a tinted lens giganta max(I think) Butterfree using a wising piece. It is different from the others I've seen. I don't know any of the other stuff.

Just this past night I beat Leon in the Master Ball Tier of the Battle Tower. I defeated his Aegislash, Rhyperior, and Gmax Charizard with Gmax Alcremie, Turtonator, and Barraskewda. Gmax Alcremie, Turtonator, and Barraskewda received the Tower Champion ribbon. Has anyone else tried out the Battle Tower yet? What team or teams works best for you? :3

In the previous games, I lead with a dragon dance Salamence as recommended by youtube people.

I'm tempted to start breeding before post game using a probably outdated IV calculator. Just got a destiny knot from the event meowth's pick up.

trying to trigger the post game without googling what to do... lol. I’m hoping there’s some conclusion to the plot, since they never did explain a few things.
