Pokémon Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield General Discussion

How are we going to transfer Pok?mon from our 3DS games? It doesn’t look like the 3DS can connect to the switch. Only other way I can think of is micro sd cards...

I think it looks good, based on what little bit we have. It?s still a bit away so I?m sure they will reveal more and add more content to it as time goes on. I?m excited though and with switch capabilities I?m sure it will be a pod sized game! I missed out on sun and moon for the most part so I?m excited for this one

the worst idea they ever had omg it took a lifetime to get the pink sunglasses in Moon through festival plaza

I know right? I had to use a friend's spare ds and my other copy of Ultra Moon to collect all the clothing in my Ultra Sun game. It was a pain.

Now that it's been a couple days and we're past initial reactions, has anyone's opinions on the starters changed?

Right now I'm really liking Grookey. Before it was just a slight leaning, but at this point I think I have a good chance of picking Grookey as my starter.

Sobble has grown on me since my first reaction. It was originally my least favorite out of the 3, but I find myself liking it a lot more as of late.

I really liked Scorbunny to begin with, and I still do to a point, but right now it's probably my least favorite right now out of the 3. I see a lot of things that could go wrong in its evolutions. Though I also see potential for it to evolve into something decent so let's hope it's the latter.

Honestly, if their final evolutions end up being bad, I might just pull an Ash and not evolve my starter fully. I did this with Torracat in Moon and would be fine doing it again here. Of course I would prefer if their final evolutions were something I would want on my team, but it's not the end of the world if they aren't.

My opinions are pretty much the same. I like all three, although I like Grookey the least still. Sobble is best boi, though.

I'm not paying for Pokemon Bank when it doesn't even allow Pokemon to hold items.

I don't think they are ever gonna allow you to transfer held items, tbh. since they seem to very specifically *not* want you to have all of them right from the start, and instead earn through normal gameplay. plus whatever the the battle facility is at the time for the really notable/quirky+trade evo items

even before bank, they never allowed this, to my recollection. so I see no reason for them to suddenly change course now

edit: ok, actually decided to check, and it looks like pal park transferring allowed held items to be kept, but that's been it

so yeah, everything about bank finally allowing held item to be retained probably not ever happening still applies pretty much exactly as I said

best shorthand, we got it now

I'm with you here. I wasn't too fond of Grookey before, but now that I look at it more, I think I'll do the same thing I did with Moon and will go with the grass type starter. I always go with a female starter in every Pokemon game, so Grookey will definitely work for that. :)

I am so ready for a new Pokemon adventure! It looks fantastic! The new starters are so cute. Wonder what their evolutions will look like? And what other new Pokemon and places will we get to meet/see? I'm so excited!

Then they will lose customers.

The only reason I would purchase Pokemon Bank is to store Pokemon with held items.

I already have just about every Pokemon there is stored in Ultra Sun.

So I know we know next to nothing about this game but I was really hoping they would do something revolutionary with Gen 8. Like open world or making the combat more interesting then turn based battles. I know that's a lot to ask for but we're on gen 8 of basically the same game. Just another new region with more new pokemon.

I'll still have fun with the game but I just think the Pokemon series has way more potential. And the decisions to get rid of wild Pokemon in the overworld was a bad one honestly.

Also, I really like the starters. Grookey is silly and cute and I'm picking him. Sobble is an adorable sad boi and I love him too. Scorbunny is cute but his name is weak. I normally pick the fire type starters but Grookey is too OP and I can't resist his Gang influence.

Nintendo of America's twitter account just tweeted out some information related to Pokemon Sword and Shield, it quotes as followed:

"It appears in #PokemonSwordShield that gyms in the Galar region are now bigger than ever! What types of Gym Masters are waiting for you to challenge them? You and your new partner Pok?mon will have to train hard and find out!"

EDIT:

I should also mention that leaks are supposedly happening, some looking to be rather credible. So be careful.
