i have a dog & he's sweet and nice, but i prefer cats. my friend's brother has two cats that i get to see when i visit and they're so great.

Definitely dogs. I don't know why it is, but the older I get the less I like cats. Like the older I've gotten the more cute I find dogs and the less cute I find cats. Also, I don't really like how cats climb all over everything and follow you in the bathroom. I've had to ask friends to get their cats out of the bathroom when I need to go and that's really awkward, because they think I'm just being silly.

Not to be a hater, though. I do love animals, and I'm sure cats are great pets for those who have them and they deserve a lot of love!

Definitely dogs. I like cats too, but I generally prefer my pet to not ignore me 90% of the time unless it's time for food.

cats, loud sudden noises scare me and all the family dogs bark at everything

both are cute but dogs just won my heart. i think they already had it when i was born and i never even had one as a pet lmao. my first word was actually hund (german for dog) and i've been in love ever since :')

Dogs! They're all so sweet but the only reason I wouldn't get one is because they're so high maintentence.

i am absolutely 100000% a cat person but big big dogs are an exception i just cant stand little dogs

I definitely prefer dogs over cats I have nothing against cats though my sister has one but they're just too independent for my liking.

cats, i like my alone time and my cat likes his. also i hate loud sudden noises (even knocking scares me) so having a dog who constantly barks is not my cup of tea T^T

I like them both in a general sense of the animal.
But as a pet, I prefer dogs. I'm just over the days of litter boxes and litter. No thank you.

Cats prefered, dogs are also great! I also really appreciate that cats don't need to go out to use the bathroom, don't get a funky smell like dogs can, and aren't loud like dogs. I do wish my cat has the portability as most dogs have, but my cat does go on walks outside with me on a harness.

"We're kool 4 kats.. (ooooooOOOOooooo)"

But seriously, I'm probably gonna be a crazy cat lay when I'm older...

My cats don't wake me up by barking at ungodly hours of the night, unlike all of my neighbors' dogs. I know it's not the dogs' faults that their owners aren't giving them the attention they need, but geez...

I do like dogs, don't get me wrong!
I just like cats a little more.

I'm neutral, for a few reasons. I've never owned either a cat or a dog; the family had a dog for a while, but she got run over a few months before I was born and they never got another one.

They both have their downsides to them. Particularly big dogs can make me a bit uneasy after a childhood experience when I was really young (didn't get hurt, just scared), and I don't like the idea of having to pick up and dispose of dog poop when taking them out for a walk (but I wouldn't just leave it on the sidewalk either, people who do that suck). As for cats, I don't like the idea of their claws scratching you or your furniture up, or them getting into the wires of your electronics. I feel like I'd be too paranoid about letting a cat wander around unattended outdoors and would only let it stay inside. I've also heard tell of outdoor cats bringing in rat or bird corpses to offer their owner as gifts, and that doesn't sound fun to deal with either.

They both have their good aspects too. Dogs can be pretty friendly and fun to hang around, and they're a good excuse to exercise since you need to take them for walks. I have friends who have told me about their pet cats over the years and they seem good in their own ways too, and they're pretty cute.

But yeah, as I mentioned at the start, I've never owned either. I've only been around other people's dogs when visiting people, never actually encountered a friend's pet cat so far. I don't expect I'll ever own a cat or a dog though, or really any pet in general, to be honest. I don't think I'm a pet owner sort of person.

If I absolutely had to pick one to answer the question, I guess I'd lean toward dogs because I have more firsthand experience with them. But, since I don't have that experience with cats, I don't feel it's an entirely fair statement for me to make so that's why I said I'm neutral to start off the post.
